Clara Fraser (March 12, 1923 – February 24, 1998) was a feminist and socialist political organizer, who co-founded and led the Freedom Socialist Party and Radical Women.
this is like my current bible. fraser is fierce, hilarious, philosophizing, dense, human, and glowing. this book is like reading a history of 20th century "left" movements, a philosophy that is deeply rich and not dry and logical and segregated into its own language and one person's own head/analysis, and a good reminder of how to not feel beaten down and depressed by what i see around me. every paragraph is full of biting wit, rich analysis, and strength.
I second Adrienne Weller’s afterword: ”She embodies the fact that the struggle for a decent life for working people is worth living and dying for. She is gloriously optimistic and can pulverise the most determined doomsayer”.
