Young Adult Literature: Exploration, Evaluation, and Appreciation is an exciting new text developed to identify for teachers how to better connect adolescents with good literature. Comprehensive enough to ensure that teachers understand today's adolescents and the literature that will engage them, yet slim enough to ensure readers have the opportunity to read the books themselves, this text will help teachers provide a rich educational experience for adolescents throughout the middle and secondary curriculum while nourishing their love of reading.
This was a textbook for my Library Materials for Teens class. It was extensive, it covered all of the genres and the current trends within. Each chapter provided a reading list of every book mentioned, a list of resources, and further reading on their web site. A must-have for anyone working with teen literature.
I found the information in this book very helpful for my class. It covers many genres in young adult literature and explains the how and whys of using each genre to interest young adults to read.
This is a pretty good Young Adult textbook for librarians, especially if it is a YA Librarian. Clearly covers each Genre, settings for the youth environment and more.
