My newest adventure romance books are The Big Race (a takeoff on The Amazing Race) and Driven Together, a Formula 1 MM romance.

I have been a voracious reader all my life, mostly in mystery, romance, and science fiction/fantasy, though a college degree in English did push a lot of literary works into my list of favorites.

Quick note: sign up for my newsletter at plakcy.substack.com to get free prologues, epilogues and short stories.

I began writing seriously in high school after an inspiring assignment with A Separate Peace by John Knowles. I didn't know I was gay then, but I knew I was longing for an emotional connection with a best friend. That desire shows up across my writing, from romance to mystery to adventure. I am lucky to have found my special person, and I want to inspire readers to make those connections, to one person or a found family.

It took getting an MFA in creative writing to kick-start my career. That's where I honed my technical skills and began to understand what kind of storyteller I am.

I remember reading Freddie the Detective about a very smart pig inspired by Sherlock Holmes. I’ve always believed that dogs make the best detectives. They notice what humans miss — a faint scent, a subtle shift in body language, the hidden treat in your pocket. That belief inspired my Golden Retriever Mysteries, where Rochester helps his human, Steve Levitan, nose out the truth.

My passion is telling stories where community, loyalty, and sometimes love solve problems just as much as clues do. Whether it’s a cozy mystery in Bucks County, a thriller on the streets of Miami, or a romance unfolding under the Mediterranean sun, I want readers to feel the heartbeat of the place and the people.

I write because stories helped me feel less alone growing up, and now I want to give readers that same feeling: a companion, a puzzle, and maybe a laugh.

When I’m not writing, I’m probably walking one of my own goldens, teaching writing, or daydreaming about my next story.
Since then I've written dozens of books, won a couple of treasured awards, and enjoyed the support of readers.

Every place I’ve lived has made its way into my fiction: the rolling hills of Bucks County, the neon heat of Miami, the beaches of Hawaii, the cobbled streets of Europe. I love exploring how communities work — from a café where dogs guide healing, to a fraternity house in South Beach, to a police unit in Honolulu.

My goal is simple: to write stories that feel grounded in real people and real places, but with enough twists, romance, or danger to keep you turning pages late into the night.

I hope you'll visit my website, where you can sign up for my occasional newsletter, and also follow my author page on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/neil.plakcy.

Sad it pretty much darts off with sex :(

And then a history lesson :(

And now a tour of the school and a lot geography lesson. This is a really slow start, at 15% and feel like most all of this could have been cut

Eh and now a flash back do we can read about Liam listing after old navy buddy and get unnecessary physical descriptions. This hopefully picks up soon cause its quickly heading to both worth finishing

Is this going to repeat the same worthless information Everytine Adian gets naked?? We get it he's been working out with Liam for almost a year and hos body is more muscular. Got it the first time now it's just annoyingly redundant

20% still nothing interesting has happened. Most everything written so far could have been cut IMO. Starting to worry there isn't going to be a story just one pointless description/ boring info dump after another

21% sex again :(. He tosses Adian over his shoulder like he's toting a bag of rice. Is carrying a bag of rice sexy?

34% sex again :(

Don't really like how liam wishes Adian acted less gay
.
60% sex again :( also pretty boring. Almost whole story is Liam working out or them researching boring stuff.

Eh and what a crappy sex scene. Liam is only in the mood cause his friend is outside the room. Then the whole time not only does he not care if he's hurting Adian he thinks about Joey. Wishing Joey would walk in naked and fuck him. which is weird because hours earlier Liam was thinking how Joey was to muscular and he wasn't attracted to that. But now all he can think about while fucking Adian is Joey. Yeah I didn't like this.

And then all he can think about is Joey and hos cock and wanting to smell it and lick it and blah blah.

80% another sex scene :( and now Adian is wondering if Liam is thinking about Joey and wanting him to join. Then thinking that makes his dick harder. Blah blah

95% another sex scene

Just as sudden as they appear the pointless thoughts of Joey just stop. I don't see why they are even in the story? Unless the author was just desperate for word count. That'd explain all the boring and repetive details as well.

This book is slow. Until the end. Then it's just a rushed everything falls into place the end. At least that part was interesting. Too bad the rest sucked so much and Liam turned into such a douce.

In the 3rd book of "Have Body, Will Guard" series, Liam and Aidan are hired to protect a young student from wealthy family who receives threats in his country. The father wants his son to leave to US and the teenager will need to improve his English. So, while attending ESL-school, Liam and Aidan will protect the kid and at the same time, Aidan will also spend time teaching.

I think there is a switch of dynamic in this one. In the previous two books, we have Aidan being brought up to the world of bodyguard in a quick pace. We know that Aidan came to Tunisia to teach, but he never got the chance to do so. In this, Aidan finally teaches again, and he has second thought about his job. He realizes that he loves teaching and wonder if being bodyguard is the right job for him. At the same time, Liam doesn't understand the change in Aidan, and feels irritated because Aidan doesn't seem as focused in the "main" job plus he feels like he is being put into second seat.

Help muddling the problem, Joey, Liam's best buddy during his SEAL years, come to help and it brings Liam and Aidan to another question of their relationship. Is Liam truly comfortable being out, has Aidan became a good partner in the bodyguard business?

I like this change of dynamic and inner monologues of the two. This time, we get Liam's point of views about the same amount as Aidan's. In the previous two books, I feel like Aidan is the one with insecurity. In this one, it's nice to see Liam can also be baffled about his partner. I don't doubt Liam's love towards Aidan, but he still needs to learn the thread balance of relationship.

What I don't like is, with all of these inner questions between the two of them, the issues are never really been addressed properly. I don't think it will be good in the long run. Liam needs to see that teaching is another passion of Aidan. Aidan needs to communicate his worries to Liam. I don't feel the ending touch that problem at all. It leaves me unsettled.

But the pace is still good, the story is engaging. I can do with better editing, of course. It will be good to see how the two work out their relationship in the next book.

This was a very fast read, a good mix of action and eroticism. I liked that we were almost always together with Liam and we could see all his insecurities. I was also interested in Aidan and his return to teaching. In the previous books, even if he wasn't the perfect bodyguard, I had the impression that he was embracing his new profession a little too smoothly.

Liam and Aidan are still very much in love, but unlike many couples in romance that become a sort of unit after beginning their relationship, both Liam and Aidan maintain their personality. Sometimes they behave like jerks, but this makes them so real in a very unusual situation.

I liked the ancient monastery setting more than the Tunis one, because I liked the idea of an enclosed space where trouble could arise. I felt that the cast of secondary characters of the first part of the book was interesting, but it was completely neglected in the second part. The arrival of Joey, Liam's best friend from the Navy Seals, was good for the story, because it made us see what's still unresolved in Liam. It's though as if the book started in a way and then turned into something else.

Anyway, the writing is good and terse, the erotic interludes have always an imperfect touch that makes them more real. Very entertaining.

Aidan & Liam return about a year after we first met them. They accept a job protecting a young man in an ESL course in Tunisia. Aidan will be teaching for the six weeks while Liam signs up as "security director" for the class. Neither is sure the threat is serious and they take the case for differing reasons. Aidan misses teaching and Liam figures that a job is a job. This leads to their first real bump in the road as a couple. Aidan realizes how much he misses teaching and how unsure of himself he is as a body guard and in his position in his relationship with Liam. Liam worries that Aidan isn't is happy with their life as he previously believed and that maybe Liam has become too reliant on his relationship with Aidan. Throw in a spoiled rich kid, kidnapping, car chases, an ex-KGB operative and a handsome former SEAL teammate then you get several hours of reading pleasure.

This is a really great read. The adventure/mystery part of the story is believable, exciting and keeps you interested. I like the development in both Aidan's & Liam's characters from the first book. Their relationship is just growing more fun and complex. The sex scenes are, as usual with Mr. Plakcy, hot but not over done or gratuitous as with so many in this genre. I felt like I was reading a great story, not just erotica with a few lines of plot for filler. I can't wait for the next installment of this series.

I liked how well-balanced this book is: we get Liam's pov and Aidan's pov almost equally and it's nice to see Liam's take on their relationship for a change. It was interesting to see how they both feel about aging, about their job and their life together. I loved that!

My only gripe is the storyline with Joey. Liam's sexual attraction towards him was kinda anticlimactic, imo, unresolved and out of the blue. I mean he was in SEAL with Joey for years and there wasn't any such feelings involved (and Liam was single at that time) and then he suddenly started lusting after him now, when he's in a happy relationship? I don't get it. And more importantly, it's left unresolved and hanging. I'd like Liam at some point I don't know to mentally compare Joey and Aidan and decide, that despite all Joey's hotness and such he still prefers Aidan, he's content in their relationship and wants to be faithful to him. As it was I felt like the only thing that stopped Liam was that Joey's 100% straight. I just don't know why that was necessary, since it didn't add anything to the main story and Liam's and Aidan's characters (other than increasing Liam's sex drive). Although Joey himself's fun and nice guy, no objections.

I really hope there'll be more books in these great series and I'd like to read more about strictly Liam and Aidan's relationship, like it was in the first book, without anyone coming between them :)

This book was full of "life choices" questions... only, we never get the answers to those questions... weird! ;p

I am not sure why I continue reading this series, albeit at a sporadic rate, because I usually come away with more questions than answers and don't get me started on these two as a couple... COMMUNICATION!!! But, of course, what was I thinking... TWO men... need I say more? They can talk about anything and everything under the sun, but god forbid they discuss their relationship... but they got close during their walk on the beach! *grin*

All jokes aside, Mr. Plakcy writes an entertaining story and there is always enough action (of all sorts) to keep me coming back for more, so... who am I to complain? ;D

What I've loved most about this series is Aidan. I like being in his head, his way of thinking and seeing things, his bitchiness, his jealousies and insecurities. He's one of those characters I connect to and gets to me for some reason. Here we get much more of Liam's POV and while it was nice to get to know him better and see where he was coming from, I found myself missing Aidan and his powerful personality something fierce. Still a nice read, I just happen to enjoy the first two better.

I love Aidan & Liam as a couple. This third part, in this series, showed us more about Liam as a character. About how he truly felt about Aidan and their daily life. I liked to watch this side of Liam. We saw more about their relationship, which was awesome. In my humble opinion this was great story. I totally, highly recommend this series!!

Going to shelf the series a bit. Read some reviews of the upcoming books in the series and the bits that bother me in the previous books don't get resolved. In fact in this one while Leim is having sex with his boyfriend he is thinking of being with friend instead of thinking of Aidan. No.

Another romp for sexy bodyguards Liam and Aidan - joined by Liam’s SEAL mate Joey.
Though sometimes all a baddie needs to do is check on their sex life!
A bit of a remote threat at first but then their client is snatched - a bit easily, as they sometimes seem a bit lax.
Also, Aidan and Liam are making more mountains out of mole hills regards their relationship.
Probs enjoyed book 2 the best of them so far.

Neil S Plakcy is one of my favorite GLBT writers. I have enjoyed his Have Body, Will Guard series as much as I enjoyed his Hawaiian series of mysteries.

Contemporary M/M romance set in Tunisia with bodyguards Aidan Greene and Liam McCullough are hired to protect a spoiled teenager attending an English-language institute.
First love for both Liam and Aiden, so they can be a little self conscious and nervous about the relationship when events/people enter their lives that could tear them apart. Aiden loves to teach and gave it up to help Liam in his body-guarding business in Tunisia. Liam's sexy SEAL buddy Joey comes into to help with the project to protect the spoiled teenager from the Eastern Block Turkmenistan, and shenanigans ensue with another sexy buff guy with the same passion for body-guarding like Liam enters the picture.
Liam seems like a really likeable guy, so is Aidan, but he doesn't understand that Aidan is different then him and needs more then just a physical type career. Lots of cute sexy scenes with M/M and not too crazy or kinky. No cheating going on in this story, although there is temptation, but these are adults with a moral code who respect their partners which was really appreciated. But Zero at the Bone was a much better bodyguard story.

This one was a surprise.
First of all it Aiden was out of character and one was facing an insequere Liam. That was a nice change, but I missed Aiden, since he was mostly focusing on teaching and his students.
Just the whiny brat they have to guard annoys me, the one in the privious book did as well.
I liked them both on a mission more, so the first book is still my favorite in this series.

I really enjoyed that most of the story was from Liam's POV. There were times in the previous books where I wondered about something he thought or said, now I have more insight into who he is and how he thinks. I don't get the sense that they resolved their issues this book brought up but I guess I will see when I read the next book.
