When she accepts a job as the personal chef to a mysterious recluse, Rose Pisano, determined to one day open her own restaurant, is stunned to discover that her new boss is Declan McDonald, a dangerously sexy pop star whom the world believes is dead. Original.
Cute story!! Rose Pisano is an upcoming chef who takes a job cooking for a man who has been a recluse for the past 2 years. The fact that he is paying her an outrageous salary will help her dream of opening a restaurant become more of a reality.
Then when she meets her mysterious boss, she is floored to find out it is famous pop musician Declan MacDonald, who was presumed to be dead, was very much alive, but harbored some big secrets.
I loved Rose and Declan's characters! The sexual tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife!! And their constant bantering made me laugh out loud in parts of the book. If you like Rom-Coms, then you'll love The Sexiest Dead Man Alive.
This book is gripping and has had me lazy with chores for want to finish it. Rose had a peculiar character
First twist, accepting to work at a remote location with an amazing pay package... Second twist, having to work for a boss she'd never seen.. Third twist, the meeting, emotion outpouring, anger, make-up and eventual rediscovery.
Here is a blend of fate, love, passion, commitment, courage, resilience, music and food.
It was cute and had some funny, endearing, and sexy scenes but definitely not one I would read again. The main character Rose isn't all that likeable and neither is her love interest, Declan. The storyline is a lot of will they or won't they that feels repetitive. Also they do a split storyline thing that connects in the middle and it feels forced.
The front of my book has a review on it by Kasey Michaels that says "If you can read the first paragraph of THE SEXIES DEAD MAN ALIVE, and not by this book...you may want to seek therapy." Oh god was that ever true because this book was instant hilarity. I could not and would not put this book down till I had read every last word. Rose was a warm hearted character with a penchant for speaking her mind. I loved her from the moment she was introduced in the book. I didn't know quite what to make of her BFF Jenn; I wanted to like her because she wasn't really unlikable, I guess I wanted her story line to have a better ending. Dec was a recluse with a big big secret. I bet you can't figure it out...oh okay you twisted my arm he isn't dead. But his real problem is the pain, fear, and guilt that has him trapped inside his seclusion. I loved the tug and pull between them and the chemistry was through the roof, you could feel it vibrating off the pages. I loved the angle of the attraction to someone you have never met because it made it feel genuine and not pushed. The game that they played with each other was fantastic, romantic, and hot. I thought it was great how much Rose just laid it out there for him, no holding back and making fun of him was an art for her. I wished the game they played at first could have gone on longer but I still enjoyed every bit of what I got. Dec was wonderful, sexy as hell and perfect for Rose because he got her humor and dished it right back. He was a bit dense at times and god was he stubborn as hell but I still loved him. This book had me rolling in floor, calling my friend NIKKI every five minutes telling her how much she has to read this book, crying, and gushing. It was the perfect Roller coaster ride with just enough to melt you, crank up your giggle box, and warm your heart. This is a must read for everyone.
Rose Pisano wants to open an Italian restaurant in Providence. When she's offered 80K/year to be a private chef for a recluse, "Mac", she takes it. The communicate by phone or notes. Mac is a famous singer/songwriter declared dead two years earlier after going to ground following the death of his brother. They fall in love, end it, and finally Mac/Dec comes around. Fun, snappy, unusual plot. Some steamy sex.
This was a lighthearted book all around. I enjoyed it although I did find the hero just a tad bit of a whiner. The writing was pretty good and the story moved right along. If you need something lighthearted to pass the afternoon this one would do nicely. It has that Susan Elizabeth Phillips/Jill Shalvis/Christie Craig feel going on.
This was a fun book to read and a cross between romance and chick lit. I kept wondering when Rose would find out who her recluse was and when she did, how it would affect her life.
