this was a very unique read. i was assigned this book for my french class last year but we never got around to it and i finally picked it up. i’m still not really sure how i feel about it. it’s quite a science-y book and i will say that despite the fact that i hate this subject, i was pretty interested and i did learn a lot. it’s easy to get through and the first act was the slowest in my opinion. i hated the epilogue tho. it wasn’t bad or anything but the writing was so blunt and kinda fatalistic that it’s on the verge of sending me down an existentialist hole. this is a french book also and i have no clue if there are translated versions available.

Uno de los libros MÁS MARAVILLOSOS QUE HE LEÍDO JAMÁS. Tuve la suerte de crecer junto a él. Si me faltaba algún resquicio donde no estuviera enamorada de la vida, aquí se llenó e incluso sobrepasó. Dan ganas de reverenciarse y/o de llorar. Lo recomiendo total y absolutamente.

En faisant la lecture de ce beau livre , j'avais l'impression d'assister a une conférence animée par des grands spécialistes dans les différents domaines de la science. j'étais éperdument fascinée par cette longue histoire de la " création " de l'univers , de ce long et lent passage de l'inerte au vivant , d'un simple particule aux organismes les plus variés et les plus compliqués .
Mais depuis l'arrivée de l'homme sur terre , et a partir duquel il a commencé a marché sur les deux pieds , et a avoir conscience de lui-meme , la belle phase de l'histoire s'etait achevée pour donner commencement a une tragédie humaine crée par les humains eux memes en devenant après les premiers victimes de tout ce qu'ils ont pensé avec leurs petites cervelles , et de tout ce qu'ils ont fait avec leurs pauvres mains .
c’était la phase de la destruction et de l’autodestruction : une évolution vers le déclin, un déclin marqué par le passage de l’homme de l'évolution biologique vers l'évolution sociale et technique qui cache toute sorte de souffrance et de la misère ..
Cet pauvre Homme qui se laisse diriger et détruire par ses propres pulsions et ses propres désirs , Et , conscient de toutes les souffrances qui en découlent ne cesse pourtant de se demander ...
Mais Pourquoi sommes-nous ici ?
et pourquoi toute cette histoire et toute cette complexité ?
est-ce le fruit du hasard ?
Une divinité qui s'amusait ?
Saurons-nous un jour ?
Et que dira-t-on maintenant ?
En nuisant assez a sa propre planète et en épuisant ses sources limitées , l'espèce humaine s'approche-t-elle de sa propre fin comme beaucoup d'autres êtres ont évolué et disparu ?

A very quick and nice read about the origin of the universe and the humanity, I like the way the book is written and organised, in scenes and acts, and as a dialogue between the authors. Another nice thing about this book is that the authors don't hide their opinions regarding God and religions, something you don't usually find in books talking about the origins of the universe, the authors are not afraid of touching the ideas of religion and saying how they believe in what they believe in.
The book was short but it covered many ideas quickly, serves well as a quick reminder for how we think things started.

Karşımızda her kütüphanede muhakak bulunması gereken bir şaherser var. 160 sayfalık bu minik kitap Evrenin başlangıcından bugüne yaratılışın,hayatın öyküsünü bilimsel açıklamalar ve mevcut kanıtlarla çok anlaşılabilir bir dille gerçekten bir öykü tadında anlatıyor. Yazar kitabı birbirinden değerli ve çalışkan üç bilim adamıyla (bir astrofizikçi,bir moleküler biyolog,bir antropolog) yaptığı bir sohbet havasında düzenlemiş. Hikaye yaşamın,insanlığın hikayesi her bölüm,her sayfa çok şaşırtıcı.
Çeviriyi İsmet Birkan yapmış ellerine sağlık gerçekten su gibi.
Telos yayınevide bu kitabı basmakla büyük bir iş yapmış onlarada ayrıca teşekkürler, kitabın baskısı 1996, bende de bu baskı var başka baskıları var mı onuda bilmiyorum. En Güzel Tarih serisinin ikinci kitabı olan Dünyanın En Güzel Tarihi de bitti ve eser bende genişlik hissi bıraktı. “İnancın En Güzel Tarihi”ni okurken anlatının tek bir inanç çerçevesinde ilerlemesi, adından dolayı yüksek tuttuğum beklentimi düşürmüştü. Bu kitapta ise Evren–Yaşam–İnsan sıralaması ufkumu fazlasıyla açtı.
Dominique Simonnet’in soruları alanda uzman olan 3 anlatıcıya rehberlik ediyor. Sohbet havasındaki anlatım, konunun ağırlığına rağmen yorucu değil. Akış boyunca yapılan değerlendirmelerin “eldeki verilere göre” olduğunun sık sık hatırlatılması ise benim için eserin en kıymetli ve öğretici taraflardan biriydi.
Evren bölümünde yıldızların ölmesiyle doğan maddeden oluştuğumuz düşüncesi ve cansız maddeden canlılığın ortaya çıkışı beni en çok heyecanlandıran yerlerdi. Bu bölümde diğerlerine göre biraz zorlandım; bunun sebebi içerik değil, konuya dair bilgisizliğimdi.

Kitabın bir röportaj/söyleşi gibi yazılmış olması okumayı çok keyifli hale getirmiş. Alanında derin uzmanlıkları olan üç bilim insanı ile kendi alanlarında yapılan söyleşilerden yine bildiğimiz sonuçlara varıyoruz: insan evrimi içinde ahlaksal ilerleme kaydettiğimize dair bir kanıt şimdilik yok ve dünyanın devamını istiyorsak kolektif bilinçle paylaşarak, birleşerek ve bir bütünün parçasıymış gibi hissederek/yaşayarak başarabiliriz.

Es conciso, muy ameno y bello. Las personas que entrevistaron transmiten su amor por su labor de divulgación de la ciencia y lo equilibran con la mesura que se debe tener. Aunque en su epílogo resulten muy optimistas(yo no lo soy) en cuanto al futuro de nosotros como especie y su ética hacia el medio ambiente.
Hay detalles que me parecieron muy bonitos como :
" Si se convierten los 4,500 millones de años de edad de la tierra en 24 horas del día, ...nuestros antepasados aparecieron en los últimos 5 minutos antes de las 12 de la noche, y su cerebro apenas se duplicó en el último minuto del día"
"Ni todo blanco, ni todo negro.El color está vinculado estrechamente a la vida"
"...el primer pez que se aventuró a conseguir alimento en tierra firme lo pudo hacer gracias a la humedad de sus ojos: le permitía ver bien tanto en el agua como en tierra . Sus descendientes serán los batracios y anfibios...
¡No estaríamos aquí si este pez no hubiera tenido lagrimas!"
Hay detalles que me parecieron muy bonitos como :

Me gustó mucho! Es muy claro y sencillo de leer.
Es una obra más bien de divulgación, no de difusión; sin embargo los temas que trata son muy profundos e interesantes.
En el libro se narra la historia del mundo, sí, pero comenzando desde lo que se conoce del inicio del universo, como la materia fue tomando forma y bajo que mecanismos y leyes. De ahí pasa a la creación de la tierra y la historia de como la materia inanimada da paso a la vida, hasta llegar finalmente a la aparición del ser humano.
Es un libro que vale muchísimo la pena y leer y debería ser obligatorio en las escuelas :3

Me ha gustado mucho este librito sobre la creación del universo, a través de pregunta - respuesta a tres grandes expertos en la materia. La historia del mundo es la más bella y si bien es cierto que hoy en día todavía no podemos responder a muchas preguntas, tenemos una certeza vital y es que dentro de nosotros, en nuestro cerebro, en nuestro ADN, en nuestras moléculas, llevamos a nuestros antepasados.

Je le lisais un peu à reculons mais c'est un excellent livre de vulgarisation sur l'évolution de l'univers, de la vie et de l'espèce humaine qui m'a beaucoup intéressée. J'ai compris pas mal de choses auxquelles je restais hermétique.

Gerçekten dünyanın en güzel öyküsüymüş, ne kadar güzel anlatmışlar dünyanın oluşumu ve insanın evrimini. Aslında kitap 90larda basılmış ancak benim yeni öğrendiğim bazı bilgilerin kitapta yer alıyor olması beni çok şaşırttı (örneğin ağaçların birbirleriyle iletişim kurabildiği o zaman da biliniyormuş!). Herkesin okuması gereken bir kitap olduğunu düşünüyorum.

Okumakta olduğum kitabı evde unutunca ve İş Bankası'nda ufak bir işime de denk gelince kitapçıya da uğradım. Kitapçıdaki çalışan okuduğum türleri sordu, epey bir tür saydım ve neredeyse saymadığım tek başlık olan tarih bölümünden bu seriyi önerdi. Çok da sorgulamadan seriden ilk gördüğüm kitabı aldım.
Benim gibi tarih okumayı çok da sevmeyen disiplinli bir tarih kurdu olmayan biri için hızlı tüketilebilir, kolayca anlaşılır ve akıcı bir kitap. İyi tarafı bu sebeplerle evrenin "başlangıcından" insan türünün "doğuşuna" kadar hızlı bir özet olması. Çok da iyi bulmadığım yönü ise kitabın kelimenin tam manasıyla popüler tarih kitabı olması olabilir. Gerçekten bahsi geçen konulara dair temel bilgilere sahipseniz tatmin etmeyecektir. Ancak yüzeysel de olsa bi bakıp çıkayım ya da başlangıç/basamak olsun diyorsanız tercih edilebilir.

Ce livre présente les grandes lignes de l'histoire du monde telle qu'on la déduite des découvertes scientifiques en 1995. Une histoire depuis le Big Bang jusqu'à l'évolution culturelle de l'homme que tout le monde devrait avoir en tête.
Le seul regret est qu'il n'y ait aucune image, notamment pour la partie descriptive des espèces qui se succèdent jusqu'à nous.

This is a book which everyone interested in our universe and planet should read. The author(s) present a highly organized discussion of the evolution of these systems throughout time ending with the long evolution of mankind. While an incredibly complex subject, the material is kept simple and straightforward enough for the layman to understand, perhaps with more than one reading of the book. There were numerous interesting revelations such as the incredible amounts of time involved even in the development of the human race, the agreement that human life began in Africa and the notion of increasing complexity from the origins of the universe to the origins and development of mankind. There were at times, issues where the authors seemed to be guessing but overall the evidence was impressive.

In my never ending question for a book to use for my freshman general science General Education class, I tried this one. The premise is it’s a series of conversations, with an astronomer, a biologist, and a paleoanthropologist, who each talk about their bit of the history of the universe. It started out OK, and I liked the format, even if the ‘interviewer’ comes of as dumb as a hammer, but when it got to the biology, and even more so human fossil history, it was horrible, and in places just plain wrong. Maybe something was lost in translation, since I think this was originally published in French. Ugh... the French...

A través de la metafísica, astronomía y antropología, entre otras disciplinas, muestra una de las historias más bellas del mundo, nuestra propia historia. Cómo de la nada hemos llegado a hoy, respondiendo preguntas que todo el mundo se hace en algún momento y contándote nuestra historia compatibilizando, sorprendentemente, las tres vertientes que siempre nos la cuentan: filosofía, religión y ciencia.
Para mí, sin duda, una obra maestra.

The first book in french about science that I read :D . This is a nice and easy recount about the origin and evolution of the universe and the story of man on earth.

September 12, 2022Le livre est accessible à tous. Il n'y a pas de termes scientifique compliquer, au contraire, ils ont essayé de vulgariser pour un plus large publique de lecteur. Le style de narration aide aussi beaucoup. C'est coupé en 3 actes, présenter chacun un spécialiste. On commence par l'univers avec Hubert Reeves, nous passons ensuite à la vie avec Joël Rosnay, et on finis avec Yves Coppens pour l'Homme. Et notre fils conducteur est le quatrième auteur du livre, Dominique Simonnet, qui transforme sous forme de dialogue. Ce qui rend la lecture intéressante, car les questions qu'on se pose et qu'on n'ose pas, il les pose trois autres auteurs. Ce qui encore plus le livre accessible et original.
Retracer dans un seul petit livre la naissance de l'univers à celle de l'Homme, offre un nouveau point de vue et une certaine originalité. Ce qui fascinant de voir l'évolution d'un bout à l'autre. Et de comprendre le temps qui c'est écoulé entre maintenant et de nos jours. On se sent tout petit.
On sent bien que chacun est spécialisé dans son domaine, et s'appuie sur des preuves ou rapelle quand ses des théories. Ils sont clairs et précis dans leur explication avec des comparaison facile à comprendre.

One can't ask questions of characters in a book, fictional or real. Such was my main problem with this otherwise interesting book. Any discussion of the creation of the universe (earth, Homo sapiens, and evolution) is bound to call forth questions from the reader. "How so? What's the evidence for that? What do you mean by ...?" Thus this discussion, even among such eminent French scientists as Hubert Reeves (astrophysicist at the Universities of Montreal and McGill ), Joel de Rosnay (former Director of Research Applications at l'Institut Pasteur (the Pasteur Institute in Paris), and former research associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the field of biology and computer graphics) and Yves Coppens (anthropologist and co-discoverer of Australopithecus afarensis - AKA 'Lucy', one of our earliest hominid ancestors), created far more questions for me than can be answered. The most satisfying, as I know little of astrophysics, was that first section discussing the theory of the Big Bang and the creation of elements, stars, and planets, and the sheer size of the universe. It reads quickly thanks to the interlocutor function of Dominique Simonet, but you may finish it with far more questions than you began , but that may not be a bad thing.
