This book is dated at this point, had a bit of a used car salesman vibe, and I am a little skeptical that all of these tips will actually result in living rich (saving money in some areas I can see, but living rich seems exaggerated). However, I think it is a handy resource because it provides a lot of tips in one place. Some are obvious, but others are less so (to me at least). Most helpfully, it also includes a great number of references to other websites and organizations which I think I will definitely use. A good starting point I think.

it's dated but a decent read if you haven't really started to go green but would like to. we are well beyond beginners so it didn't offer much for us. and we certainly didn't get rich doing these things. but we've spent smarter and been able to donate and save more money while being good earth stewards.

Although it’s outdated and a little cheesy, it is formatted in a helpful way and provides a ton of practical ways to implement changes in your ordinary life.

Go Green, Get Rich takes a financial approach to going green. The main premise is that you don’t have to break the bank to go green, and that it will actually save you money down the road. There are 50 tips, and some of them are feasible, but some of them are not. I almost stopped reading the book when one of his first tips was to buy an electric car. That’s not exactly affordable for the general public, especially at the time this book was written (2008). A lot of the tips were quite basic, as well, and I didn’t gain much from reading this book.

However, I do think Bach makes going green accessible for the general population. While some of the tips are quite elementary, Bach does provide a lot of data to support his claims. I particularly enjoyed reading the amount of money that people would save if they followed each individual tip. This provides a financial incentive for those who need that extra little push.

This book isn't without its faults. The author makes some sweeping statements that made me roll my eyes so hard it hurt.
“Walk to work. It’ll save you the cost of transportation AND it will save you the cost of a gym membership!” *sigh*

3.5 stars, rounded up because of the myriad of websites and extra resources that he had to supplement each “tip”. This book is only a first resource for many, and Bach provides ample resources for those who need additional support.

There some good reminders in this book, reminders for everyone to think about their choices. However, the ideas are very basic and obvious. I was perturbed to read Bach's recommendation to parents to use disposable diapers - I think he is way off on that one. Don't waste your money or time on this book.

By the author of the Automatic Millionaire. Good for those without a social conscience and an eye on the checkbook.

A co-worker left this book on the counter the other day, and I picked it up and have been breezing right through it, much to my own surprise. I say that because this book is part of the "do something, Get Rich" series and I'm not a huge fan. (Probably for the same reason I'm not a huge fan of the "guides for dummies/idiots" books - I think they're rather crass). But I have to say that this book impressed me by the depth of the "going green" information that was dispensed in a handy little handbook sort of way.
There are different sections to the book that describe ways in which you can simultaneously switch to a greener, more environmentally friendly, and also more cost-effective way of living. It was gratifying to find that I do some of these already without even thinking about it. I carpool to work on days when it is possible (Shout-out to Darcy!), I bring my lunch to work in our new Happy-Sacks! and other reusable containers whenever possible, I turn off/unplug everything except my clock religiously in order to cut down on phantom electricity use (if you don't know what I'm talking about, read the book, page 43), etc. But there were some things I'm surprised never crossed my mind to wonder about; things like restaurant take-out (duh, I'm saying to myself, those little containers of Chinese food can hardly be recycled), taking myself off junk mail lists, and going on "Green" vacations (eco-tourism or even volunteering vacations - not that I have the time to vacation, but you know, it's a thought). There's even a small section in the back that talks about Green Investing!
The other positive, for me, element to this book is that it gives handy little websites and side tips/notes for each write-up of environmentally-friendly changes you can make, in case you want to go find some more information. It's always nice to be directed to exactly what you're looking for rather than trying the hit-and-miss Google search (though that can certainly yield some fruitful results). All-in-all, I give this book 2 thumbs up for what it is - a brief, breezy guide that shows you how to reduce your carbon footprint, and your financial output, all at the same time.

This book outlines fifty ways to make your life greener and getting rich by trying. It has some great ideas that I can apply to my own life however there are a few that are absolutely not feasible for me. I think the few I can do will help me save money and help the environment.

Quick read. You can thumb through it in under an hour. Published in 2008. It serves as a quick guide to moving towards being more green. The money theme comes in the long term cost savings, while doing your part for the planet. A few pages are dedicated to putting money in your 401k and investing in green funds.

There weren't any groundbreaking tips in this book, but it was a nice reminder of some things we can try to save money and live greener. I'd recommend this for anyone who's looking for some ways to save money and/or help the environment. It's a quick read, and has some good resources.

This book will help me take conscious decision to save money and planet at the same time ..consider taking lunch to office and carry a steel bottle to work. In the long term I need to dispose the chemical cleaners at home and should consider gardening to feel fulfilled

This book is a great way to familiarize yourself with the true costs of our non-green living. It helps to point to the great cost saving tips that are also saving the environment. The book is a great and easy read, and I highly recommend it for anyone.

I’ve been a big fan of Bach for a while now and his Latte Factor has influenced me a lot. Despite this book being written back in ‘08, it aged very well and was very on-point with today’s trends. A solid manual, if not a bit tedious.

Too out of date

Many of the mentioned websites no longer work, even the authors own site. This book was written in 2008 and so many policies have changed. There are many more advances made in recycled and renewable resources.

This book had some good information but a lot was common sense and a lot of the ideas and statistics were oyt of date. Unless he makes an updated edition I would look elsewhere.

Simple book with some good ideas. A lot of the facts and numbers seem to be pulled out of thin air. But I fully support the idea of this book. It’s worth reading.

I finished this in one day. No new information, lots of resources though, the first two websites I tried where no longer there.

Not a lot of value left in this one. Sorely outdated website addresses for different resources, tired ideas and generally weak efforts to tie financial freedom to being green.

This book has too much outdated and misleading information to be actually useful.
Some of the information is of value, but do your own research!

The tips were very basic, the alleged savings seem grossly exaggerated in many cases, and some items were just plain incorrect.
