Michelangelo (2005) by german writer Alexandra Grömling.

Chronological timeline over the life of Italian sculptor, painter, architect and poet of the High Renaissance: Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni. The artist known simply as Michelangelo.

In his lifetime, Michelangelo was often called Il Divino ("the divine one"), which isn't surprising when you look at his mesmerizing art.

3.5 stars, this was difficult to rate because there was no synopsis so i don't know exactly what it was setting out to do. I definitely learnt a lot from this and do feel i better understand Michelangelo's art and how it progressed. However i was surprised how little of his life was actually spoke about and how much random religious information was included. Unfortunately it was written very stuffy and a very old way, i think due to the age of the book the graphic design, page layout, font size inconsistencies and general format also left a lot to be desired.

Pretty comprehensive, and nice. Noticeable typos which is kinda cool to see in a published text but also like c’mon.

The writer Alexandra Grȍmling’s illustrated biography of Michelangelo Buonarroti is a beautiful introduction to the “Life and Work” of Michelangelo. “Life and Work” is the book's subtitle. The book is part of the Art in Focus series. The book was translated from German into English by Peter Burton with the help of the firm named Goodfellow & Egan. Michelangelo lived between 1475 to 1564. Each of this short book's eight chapters begins with a timeline of events in Michelangelo's life and events in the World’s history during his lifetime. The book is only 91 pages, but the book covers a great deal of ground. The book does an excellent job of describing why Michelangelo’s work is significant and why Michelangelo’s work was different from his fellow artists. The book includes a glossary of terms used in the text, such as the definitions for vocabulary, such as aureole and a Styx. The book consists of many aspects of Michelangelo’s life and the artistic influences on the work of Michelangelo. The book covers Michelangelo’s legacy as an influence on 19th-century artists such as Eugene Delacroix and Auguste Rodin. The book has large print text and is very readable. Grӧmling and Burton’s book is a beautiful introduction to the “Life and Work” of Michelangelo.
