November 1, 2021This is truly a PHENOMENAL book about PHENOMENAL women. My brother gave me this book for my 40th birthday. He passed away a year later, unexpectedly. I am now 52 and I am making my own list of PHENOMENAL Black women over 50 and their success/survival stories, starting with myself and my story of being a teenage mom and AMAZING stories of some of my closest friends. It's wonderful to hear and share these success stories.

Beautiful photographs and essays about amazing older black ladies. Some of the essays were a bit long, others felt short, and some appealed to me more than others. (I kind of wanted more photos and fewer words, but maybe that's just me.)

I scattershot read this book of essays. Some I just couldn't get into, and I skipped around. It was lovely, but didn't catchy page after page interest.

What an inspiring book! Reading about the lives of various Black women, from different backgrounds and different careers, caused me to admire what a difference one person can make. Many of these ladies are not well known to the public, and yet are doing incredible feats in the communities, the nation, in varied fields of interest. Loved the photos, too!
