Set in Dublin, a sparkling romantic comedy in the bestselling tradition of Marian Keyes, Jenny Colgan and Cathy Kelly. Having just celebrated her thirtieth birthday, Anna Allstone is feeling high and dry on the shelf. Even worse, she has to face the prospect of attending a school reunion hosted by Victoria, the ex-school bully, to which partners are invited. And Anna doesn't have one. How can she face the pitying and supercilious glances from her old school acquaintances when they discover that she doesn't have a man of her own? So, Anna sets out to find the perfect partner in time for the party: a Mr Right for the Night. Will it be Steve, the student from the flat downstairs? Or Rich, the out-of-work, penniless actor? Or Jake, the banker with a strange sense of humour? But fate has a way of turning the tables on a girl, just when she least expects it...
Read this on the Kindle. I am pretty sure there were missing pieces of the story in this format. At times I felt as if the author forgot to take her ADHD med, the flow between parts of the story wasn't smooth. Felt like speed bumps in a parking lot. Could be a much better read with some more editing.
The formatting on the free Kindle version I got is awful. The font changes randomly and there are no breaks to tell you that it is a new scene.
It seems like the main character Anna is totally out of control, drinking so much she can't get to work the next day, sleeping with practical strangers. Overall a rather pathetic life for something billed as a romantic comedy. This is just not my cup of tea.
Cute, typical romance novel. The formatting was horrendous and made reading difficult.
There were no surprises to the story. The main character faced turmoil and hardship on one front while prevailing on others. She was actually a bit annoying but st least she had a real feel to her. She wasn't perfect and made the same bad decisions we all have. That alone gained this book it's 3rd star.
I really liked the storyline but the writing was all over the place. It was actually a bit dizzying at times and I had to scroll back to check if I skipped some pages.Overall, it was good it just needed some work.
I enjoyed the story, but the lack of transitions between scenes made it difficult to follow. I'm not side if this was a loss in the formatting to Kindle or what... Other than that, it was a quick and enjoyable read off the Amazon free list.
Although I enjoyed this book, and the story was entertaining, the way it jumped from character to character was confusing and off putting at times. It wasn't quite the best seller I'd expected it to be but it was still a pleasant read.
My Kindle says it took me 2 hours 47 minutes to read this book. That's 2 hours 47 minutes of my life I won't get back. Thank goodness it was a free download.
Mr. Right.....
Chick-lit not made in UK but Ireland this time. Nice change, although to me it made not that much of a difference. It seems as if young woman here or there like a good night out with lots of alcohol and nice men.
The story was amusing and quite alright. Better than the chick-lit I read before. Only the very ending was, aehm, somehow stupid. Not because of with whom she finally ends up with but how.
This book was surprising good, had one main character where you had her point of view but at the same time you got an insight view of other peoples lives. This was all done without confusing the reader which can be hard at times. Splendid.
Hard to follow...scenes weren't separated properly, which meant rereading to figure out where you were. Dragged on for a while, when I finally got into it, it ended..very poorly in my opinion. It was free other wise I would beg for my $$ back and it would be a lower rating.
The writing was a bit all over, the formatting was a bit confusing, and the ending was ridiculously predictable, but I still didn't want to put it down. I should know better than to start a book at 8pm.
I loved this book ... exactly what I expect in chick-lit from an Irish writer - good entertainment, some fantastic lines of dialogue, and plenty of characters getting their come-uppance. Thoroughly enjoyable, recommended read.
Yes I did enjoy this book even though its full of cheese and a little bit confusing in places as it seems to skip suddenly. (Possibly just kindle version) but you know what us girls like a good chic flick now and again and this is one of them! :)
Maybe I'd like this better if I read it in a paperback format, but I found the almost non-existant e-formatting very off-putting. It kept pulling me right out of the story.
Very sweet, entertaining though predictable at times. A great light read. However, the book does need some serious proof-reading for spelling and grammar mistakes.
Worse than a trashy soap. The character was quite annoying, the book was hard to follow at times, and the ending was very predictable. Thank goodness it was free on kindle.
Terrible formatting on Kindle made it difficult to follow story as jumped from one scene to another. Reasonable chick lit story but only "bought" because it was a freebie.
