Lavinia Lewis

Lavinia discovered reading at an early age and could always be found with her nose in a book. She loved getting lost in a fantasy world even then. When her parents bought her a typewriter for Christmas at aged eleven, her fate was sealed. She spent hours dreaming up characters and creating stories. Not a lot has changed.

Lavinia is a Welsh Valley girl who has lived all over the UK. Today she lives at home in the small village in which she grew up, just outside of Cardiff, Wales, but ask her again tomorrow and it could very well be somewhere different. She has travelled extensively to places as far and wide as Africa, Asia, Australia, North and Central America and most of Europe. Although some of her books are set in Texas she has never stepped foot in the state but plans to spend time there in the near future. She is a proud Brit, but feels quite at home when visiting the grand ol’ USofA.

Although Lavinia is a huge fan of the romance genre, particularly M/M she will admit to reading anything and everything. She loves horror, a good thriller and if a book has the capacity to make her cry, well, all the better. She loves a gritty, angst-ridden, gut-wrenching story, but is more than happy to settle in with a lighter, fluffier tale. She loves a happy ending and the characters in her books have thus far been lucky enough to find one. She can’t guarantee that will always be the case. She has two cats and wouldn’t part with them for the world, even though they make her sneeze.

Lavinia also writes M/F romance under the pseudonym Amy Armstrong.

First I still have a bunch of questions from the first one. This one had one sentence about what happened in the first one. Like what happened to pack order? We have no idea how Kelan felt being betrayed by Rick or how it affected the pack and were there any other issues with trusting the pack? This one didn't mention how the pack was going or who was in charge while Kelan was in New York. He mentions some trouble back home with the pack and needing to get back but it never said what the trouble was, at the end of this book it still doesn't really feel like the events of been resolved just forgotten about.

So those questions out of the way I didn't really like this story. I really liked Kelan in the first two books even though he was a push over, i feel like he really got shafted with his mate.

The book opens with a scene I hated. I hate reading about sex with the main characters when it isn't with each other. Not only that it opened with Jake being a complete bastard. He was the biggest asshole i thought he was going to be the bad guy. He gets even worse with how he treats his friend, Tony really deserved a better friend, not sure why Tony would be friends with Jake the way he was treated.

I was really disappointed that he was Kelan's mate but thought maybe he would get better. By 50% he was still a bastard but he finally realizes the way he acts is "despicable" (his own word to describe the way he treats people). So up to this point it was all sex and Jake being a bastard. First half of this book is a 1 star for me just couldn't like it at all.

Second half Jake is better and even says sorry like that makes up for everything. The stalker thing at least added something to the book besides sex so the last half was better, but still i liked Jake so little i couldn't care much that somebody was threatening him. Jake wasn't as much of a bastard and even with the events at the end I still didn't like Jake and it is hard to enjoy a story when you hate one of the main characters.

I would have preferred to see Cary and Kelan together and pretty much had the same plot without the bastard Jake

4.5 Stars This is the best in the series!!

The book opens with Jake getting a blow job by poor guy who's name Jake can't bother to remember. It goes on to show that Jake, who lives a fast and lonely life in New York, is absolutely terrified of letting anyone in, not only his heart but in his body as well. He has been hurt terribly before by his first love Matt in college. Matt was a shifter and while he loved Jake, he had finally found his mate in Jake's new roommate. When Jake walked in on Matt and his roommate in bed together that was the end of the trusting and loving young man that he was. For the next decade Jake has lived by his own rules regarding sex and relationships. He doesn't want anyone around too long and there is no way he will give up control of his body to another and let someone top him. When Jake and Kelan first get together Jake figures out that Kelan is a shifter and flips out and kicks Kelan out of his house. There is no way that Kelan will ever leave the mate that he has been searching so long for and he finally starts breaking down Jake's defenses. The first time that they have sex Jake does respond to the Alpha in Kelan but he is still unwilling to let Kelan top him. Darling Kelan has no problem deciding that he will take his mate any way he can get him. With some starts and stops, the relationship develops quickly and Jake learns to trust Kelan in all ways. There is some danger towards Jake because of the jealous ex of Carey's (the man giving the blow job in the opening scene). Carey develops into a very interesting and very damaged character that I can't wait to read more about. We get to see quite a bit of Cody and Stephan in this book too and I thought that was great. I think that this series is getting better and better with each book and I am very anxious for Carey's book to come out!

I have mixed feelings about this one but honestly, this is my least favorite in the series.

Jake, I think, will be a hard character for some to like. On one hand, some will sympathize with him because he was hurt badly years ago and that's why he acts the way he does but on the other hand, he is just a complete fucking douche bag and no matter how much someone hurt you that doesn't give you the right to be an arrogant asshole to everyone else and using your friends. A slut I can understand, an asshole? No way, man. With that said, I think Kelan deserved better than Jake. I felt like if Jake wasn't being a prick, he was crying 'poor me, I got burned by love'. Needless to say, I didn't like him much.

The book opens up to Jake getting a blow-job by a guy he can't even remember the name of (Cary), even though he's hooked up with him multiple times, kicking him out faster than it takes for the sweat to dry. The next night, Jake ditches his friend Tony to go home with Kelan. After just one night (more like half a night, really) Jake knows Kelan is a wolf and kicks him out because he's gotten hurt by a wolf in the past. The next day, Kelan starts his pursuit of Jake. Now it's up to Kelan to persuade Jake what they have is real and getting him to give Kelan a chance to prove it. Add into effect Jake has a stalker bent on harming him, a cat shifter that's in need of some protection and you get a mostly suspenseful story.

I have to admit, the first half of the book wasn't to my liking. Meeting Jake the way we do left a bad taste in my mouth so it took me a while to get invested in the story but eventually Kelan and Jake warmed up to me so by the time all the action starts happening I liked Jake enough to tolerate him. (Although, why he thinks he can just say sorry for all his past douche-bagginess and think that'd be enough to make amends blows my freaking mind.)

With that said, though, I still had some problems with the book. For one, there was still too much sex. At least for me. I've felt this way about the whole series so far, though, so if you've liked the amount of sex in the previous books then you'll have no problems with this one. Also, my questions about Rick and Kelan's feelings still stand. We don't get much about Kelan in the whole book because it's mostly just about getting to know Jake, which means Jake knows next to nothing about Kelan besides he's an alpha wolf from Texas. I know we already know all about Kelan but Jake doesn't. I was hoping to see some interaction between the two getting to know each other. Instead we only see that happening from Jake.

All in all, I did like a majority of the story. It started off not so good but by the end I was drawn in and invested in it. I think those readers who've liked the series so far with like this one as well.

There is strong willed and there is just plain assholes. Jake was a cross between the two. In the beginning he was the biggest ass you could ever come across. After meeting Kelan he slowly began to change for the better. Jake actually turned into a strong willed person with the knowledge of his past and realizing how much of an ass he was. I have to say that he is not someone I thought I would see Kelan with, but alas I am not the one who wrote the book. I can understand on some level what Ms. Lewis was thinking and why she went this route for the two characters. All in all I was pleased with how it went. Looking forward to the next knowing what Cary has gone through, and knowing who he is destined for in the future. Should be an interesting read.

I like Kelan and I like how he pursued Jake, allowing his internal alpha rules to slack off a bit in order to make his intended mate more comfortable. I can understand Jake's hesitancy to get involved with another wolf, especially one as strong, powerful and determined as Kelan, and I was glad when Kelan showed his softer, supportive side to both Jake and to Cary. I really enjoyed this installment of the series.

This one wasn't my favorite...
Jake sleeping with Cady and not even calling him the right name? Gross.
I'm sorry you got stuck with a shitty mate, Kelan. Poor Tony and poor Cady. Aaron's going to have a hell of a time with him 🥲

I was looking forward to this book, as the characterization of Kelan in the previous two books was awesome. However, this novella failed to deliver anything new and original to the series (except a couple of new characters) and left me feeling like I was reading the previous books, just replacing the two main protagonists from them with Kelan and Jake.

Kelan’s Pursuit starts off with Kelan in New York City helping his brother Cody and his mate move their stuff, so they can return to their pack in New Mexico. (In book two, Cody was an artist in NYC.) They go to a gay club and there Kelan meets Jake, his mate. The two have hot sex but as soon as Jake finds out Kelan is a werewolf, he throws him out and tells him not to return (new concept for werewolf mating books — which I liked). It seems Jake had a werewolf boyfriend in college who left him when he found his true mate and Jake has a grudge against all werewolves since then. But that doesn’t stop our hero, Kelan, and he intends to woo and claim his mate and take him back to his ranch in Texas. (BTW, Kelan if you have an older, straight brother can you please give him my number? I love yummy romantic men!)

The conflict comes when a former fling of Jake’s (Cary) shows up and his psycho ex boyfriend/mate starts to stalk Jake. Cue protective Kelan and the novella comes to a dramatic conclusion.

The biggest problem I had with Kelan’s Pursuit and why I dropped the rating down to three stars when I gave the other books higher marks is because there was nothing new in this one. Boy (werewolf) meets boy (human), they mate, bond, bad guy shows up and fight happens…cue the end and addition of new characters for future books. While the writing is still crisp, the plot by this point is predictable. By book three in the series, I felt there should have been some growth and depth in the story, otherwise why read it if you are getting the same old, same old.

So for me, book two is my favorite, then book one and now this. (Sort of like my taste in the Star Wars trilogy. Maybe if Ms. Lewis threw in some Ewoks next time?) There is a fourth installment coming called Aaron’s Awakening, which will tell the tale of Aaron — the wild child from book two, who was a hoot — I only hope that the author changes up the next book and moves away from her formulaic plot.

Recommended only to people who like this series or are avid werewolf genre fans.

I felt that Kelan was stronger in the first two books. With Jake trying to retain his independence and Kelan giving him space when he knew there was a threat made me wonder who the alpha in the relationship was.

Jake took a little to get used to even after he tries to make amends with the friend that he has treated poorly. Especially with the information we continue to get about Cary who was introduced at the beginning of the book. Everything went really fast in this one too. All of three or four days I think and really not enough time to have Jake grow and change with all of the issues he harbors. People who hold grudges for long periods of time tend to take a long time to get over them. I know the mate pull helps but the changes still feel fast.

I am really interested in Cary's story so I look forward to the next installment of Shifter's Haven.

I wish I could give this book 3.5 stars. I like Kelan. I like how take charge and alpha he is. I like that he mated to a human. My issues with this story are kind of a repeat of my reviews of the prior stories. There seemed to be holes in the story. Kelan would have a super power sense of smell at one point and then not at another. Even just a quick mention that the overpowering smells of NY overwhelmed his senses would have satisfied me. Jake started out acting like an ass. I had hoped that Kelan would really have to pursue Jake because of Jake's abrasive personallity. But instead Jake just went submissive with Kelan. Again, is it the magic? Now, in this story I thought the danger was much better. Jake being the target of another shifter was smart and tense. I even thought the wrap up was nicely done. This story gives me a great deal of hope that this series is going to get better with each story. I look forward to reading what happens next.

Okay...note to self.....Do Not Read other's review's before posting your own! That thought finished.......I thought this was an excellent addition to the series. My only grip was that I wished it was LONGER!! I reeeeally wanna see how things progres between these two. But, so far Lavinia hasn't let me down!! She is fast becoming one of my FAV's!! I look forward to the next in this series and I'm tryin really hard not to bug her for a hint as to what's in store. .

Surprisingly Jake did not bother me as much as I thought he would. There's no doubt he acted like an ass but in the end he tried to make amends and he didn't really do anything unforgivable (like being a cheating bastard) so it was his behavior after he mated with Kelan that I paid more attention to. The drama with Jake's stalker made for an interesting ending to the story and I'm really looking forward to reading about Cary and Aaron next. Cary is such a sweetie and I think Aaron will be good for him.

This is a cute series. There is nothing too heavy and no real surprises and once the couple meets most of the conflict is not because of their relationship, it is about something happening outside of it that puts one of the mate's in danger. But I find myself drawn to these stories and I can't wait to read more...

Kelan's Pursuit is, as suggested by the title, Kelan's pursuit of his mate, Jake. Now that all of the brothers are mated, where is the series to go? Is this the end? Can't wait to find out.
I give Kelan's Pursuit three stars.

Although this fascinating MM shifter romance is somewhat different to the previous two books in this series, I really enjoyed reading it. The characters are quite well-developed & have a variety of traits & different sides to their complex personalities, one of the main characters acts in a rather uncaring manner but does redeem himself. There are character crossovers but this book can be read as a standalone. The plot is well-thought-out & intriguing with some unexpected incidents/situations.
There is: a pack alpha (Kelan) discovers his mate is a human male (Jake) with a guarded heart, Jake’s one-night-stand (Cary), Kelan’s younger brother (Cody) & his mate (Stephen), wolf shifters, humans, panther shifters, a conniving stalker, twists & turns, some suspense, intrigue, some action, threats, danger, conflict, violence, attacks, mates, discovery, verbal conflict, emotional turmoil, anticipation, memories, trust issues, memories, complications, compromises, unexpected friendship, arson, devious intentions, confrontation, a life-threatening incident, love, happiness, contentment & a satisfying conclusion. I look forward to future books from this author & would recommend this book.

Wonderful conclusion to the Shifters' Haven series

Another satisfying story of a Morgan brother’s search for his mate

Jake is damaged goods. He loved, lost, and decided never to make himself vulnerable again. So instead he became a callous, self-centered jerk, even to his one and only friend. He’s also human. Kelan Morgan meets him and knows he’s his mate. Then the fireworks begin.

This is a quick satisfying read. It brings the Morgan brother’s mate searches to a conclusion. I like the way that Jake is developed - first bringing out the emotional damage and how he tried to protect himself from ever being wounded again. Then Kellan slowly breaks thru Jake’s defenses, showing him that he is worthy of trust and love.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

3.5 stars

The language used by these characters sometimes was distinctly British which doesn't fit for where the characters are from. I enjoyed the idea that even though Jake is a human, he is aware of wolves at least. The story is vaguely familiar however or at least I have read something similar to it before pertaining to Jake and his history with his ex Matt. I've been unsure about this series with every book. I guess I keep waiting to love one of them but it's just not happening. Mostly they are about sex and the pull of mates, which is fine if you don't want the story developed beyond that. Most of the plot points never feel fully developed and secondary to all the sex.

Kelan is in New York City to help brother Cody get ready for his move back to Texas. Taking a break, Kelan goes to a gay bar- Liberties. Businessman Jake is a human. Even he can feel the pull.

Jake gains insights into his past hookups and few close friendships after connecting with Kelan . An effort to chat with a young former hookup Cary leaves both battered and broken.

Is Kelan the only shifter near Jake?

Can Jake get over past betrayals to trust again?

Relationships can be tricky!

Kelan and Jake were so wonderful together! I liked that Jake was already aware of shifters, so there wasn't all of the drama of finding out that shifters exist on top of getting mated to Kelan within days of meeting him. I do have to wonder, at first it sounded like Jake was friends with Tony enough to share the secret with him, but by the end of the book I wasn't so sure. I sort of want Tony to be told, move to Texas, and find his own mate as well.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I was so excited for Kelan's book and was so so disappointed when I stared reading it. It starts with a sex scene that's not between the mmcs, which is a huge no go for me. Jake was horrible! The author couldn't have come up with a worse mc. He was so selfish and such a huge asshole. It's not often I hate someone that much. Sure he got better after a while but I can't overlook how horrible he was in the first half of the book. Kelan deserved better. The second half of the book I enjoyed way more. I like the stalker subplot.

This addition to the series was absolutely awesome. Kelan finds his mate, Jake, and they were perfect together, although, there were a few big hurdles that they had to get over, but they worked through their issues together. I appreciated the fact that a human can heal faster if he is given the blood of his mate. That was a creative aspect of the story. The pace was steady and I loved the personalities of the characters. Very pleasurable and enthralling. =)

This is another great addition to this wonderful series. I really loved Kelan, and how he put in the work to show Jake that they belonged together. And I truly felt for Jake, and how pasts hurt had made him scared to open up his heart again. This was a very enjoyable read. I truly enjoy this series.

Lewis is firmly stuck in her lane, the stories are pretty cookie cutter. But luckily, Kellan and Jake are actually interesting. And though quite the jerk in the beginning, Jake proves redeemable. And even lovable. There's a bit more angst. And as with the last two books, the bad guy ends up dead.
A quick read. Fun, in part.

This one was a bit different because it was in New York, and because Jake was not a wolf. So the setting was different and the whole family was not there. I didn't like Jake much at the beginning, but then he changed through the book. Even though I didn't like that Jake had so many hook ups around, I liked the sense of protection towards Cary that both he and Kelan had. I hope to see more about how Jake changes. And I can't wait to be back in their town and read about Cary and Aaron.

There is a plot here and been out of the ranch was a good idea. The tittle tells everything but isn't made as a mistery so okay. The characters are more complex. Jake is a ass but been hurt one time don't want to that to happens again and has his redemption. I like that Kelan gave him the space needed to accept the mate thing put a depth in the character on don't going in the alpha thing nonsense even with Cary and all that happens. This is the most plot driven book of the 3 first and is it's nice to watch the evolution.
