This delightful book about saving and spending is a perfect "addition" to your child's reading list!
Honey Bunny Funnybunny has lots and lots and lots of money. Some she saves, some she spends on herself, and some she spends on her friends. In this delightful rhyming book about spending and saving, the bear gets a chair, the fly gets some pie and, of course, the fox gets some socks.
With a degree in fine arts, Marilyn Sadler assumed she would be an illustrator. But when early in her career she was presented with an opportunity to write, she seized it and quickly discovered that she had found her true love. No sad, sappy stories for her, however. She likes to make herself laugh, and with that her characters usually end up looking pretty silly for one reason or another.
Her first children’s book featured a fastidious little English boy named Alistair Grittle and was originally created for the English publisher, Hamish Hamilton, as well as for Simon & Schuster in the United States. Having created a boy with such perfect behavior, she then turned her attention to a not so perfectly behaved little boy. His name was P.J. Funnybunny, and he has existed in a series of books for Random House, including the highly prestigious Dr. Seuss Cat In the Hat series.
Marilyn’s television credits include two PBS Reading Rainbow programs featuring Alistair, an Alistair program for the BBC, three ABC Weekend Specials featuring P.J. Funnybunny, and a show based on her children’s book, "Elizabeth and Larry", for Showtime’s Shelley Duvall’s Bedtime Stories.
Between 1999 and 2004, The Disney Channel produced three Original Movies based on her book, "Zenon, Girl of the 21st Century". Each of Disney’s Zenon movies had exceptionally high ratings, with Zenon, Girl of the 21st Century and Zenon the Zequel among the highest rated shows in the history of The Disney Channel.
In 2004, Playhouse Disney began production on Marilyn and Roger Bollen's animated series, Handy Manny. Handy Manny premiered September 16, 2006, as the highest rated Playhouse Disney series premiere of all time. In 2009, Marilyn was nominated for an Emmy Award as Executive Producer of Handy Manny.
Perfect for early readers this book is full of rhyming and pictures that illustrate the words. Honey Bunny is a generous bunny who spends her money on friends and family.
A fun book that can be used to accompany basic money/math lessons. Great for reading practice and for early childhood learning (rhymes, numbers, currency).
Preschool class loves this book. The rhyming is fun, the illustrations are colorful, and the message about generosity is well received. I definitely recommend this book for young children.
Summary: This is a book for early learners. In the book a bunny buys various different items for all the animals she knows. The illustrations go great with this book and displays what each page says perfectly.
Response: I gave this book four stars because I think children would have fun reading it aloud. I loved that the illustrations correlated directly with the content on each page. This could help beginning readers also because if they were unsure of a word the illustrations could be helpful to them. I also liked that each page rhyme, I think this is a little more entertaining for children.
Classroom Connections: This book could correlate with a rhyming words lesson. Students could think of other words that rhyme. Students could also create their own rhyming stories or poems. Students may also reflect on how generous the bunny was in this story. They may form their own definitions of generosity and think of ways they could help others out.
CCSS: I was unable to find the lexile level for this book. If I had to guess I’d say it’s around 170L with a guided reading level around h and a grade equivalent around 1.6. I believe students from Pre-K through second grade would be interested in this book.
JOSE FAUSTINO I THINK THIS BOOK IS FUN AND HAS ALOT OF MESSAGES ABOUT CARING AND ALL OF THAT. THIS BOOK RYMES AND IS EASY TO READ. DR.SEUSS IS ONE OF THE BEST AUTHORS THAT MAKE CHILDREN BOOKS. THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS THAT IVE READ SO FAR.

JOSE FRANCO THIS BOOK SHOWS HOW TO SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND IF THEY SHARE WITH YOU SHARE WITH THEM.THE BOOK IS EASY TO READ AND IT IS GOOD FOR TEACHING YOU TO SAVE MONEY. THE BUNNY STILL HAD MONEY FOR ITSELF.
THE BUNNY'S FRIENDS GAVE HER MONEY SO SHE BOUGHT THEM SOMETHING TO PAY THEM IN RETURN.SHE CARED FOR HER FRIENDS AND DOESN'T FIGHT WITH THEM.THE BOOK TEACHES PEOPLE TO BE NICE AND NOT TO FIGHT.
THIS BOOK IS GOOD FOR PEOPLE THAT ARE LEARNING TO READ.IT TEACHES THEM WORDS. THE PICTURES HELP THE PEOPLE READING UNDERSTAND WHAT THE WORDS MEAN.
This book is part of the Bright and Early for Beginning Beginners Book. It has lots of rhyming words and many repetitive. Words like "Buy" "pen-hen" "pear-mare" "fly-pie" etc. Little Honey Bunny had saved the money her family had given to her. She went and spend some of it, then spend some of it for gifts for friends and her family. And then saved some of it. A nice book to help children to see that it's good to save money but also good to think of others as well.
