This isn't much of a review but, this book made cry many times and as a 9 year old girl I had a humongous crush on the younger Sparr because he was so brave. And i thought he was hot.( i was a strange child) It was nice to see that even though Sparr was an evil man, he became good and ended up in a happy place in the end.

This is the story of Lord Sparr and how he came to be who he was. I've read some from the series but this was a good one for me to understand the relationship between different characters... It shows some about how good and evil are intertwined with the good being twisted to be used as evil (but also that the evil can come back to the good, the light). Peter really has enjoyed this series...the imagination, the action, and the introduction into the world of fantasy. Goodread for early readers since the length is short and will probably be especially good for boys with the action although there are girl characters in the series to help appeal to young girls.

**3.5**

I’m confused if sparr’s consciousness jumped into his younger self for a bit to kind of remind him of why he became evil or if he’s unlocking memories.

I’m disappointed that the kids weren’t in this book. I get that it’s about sparr, but still

- Sparr and Kem are escaping from enemies
- Almost drowned in the serpent sea
- sparr feels differently about being an evil sorcerer since we was the kids’s friend
- Sparr can control who can understand kem
- Confused troll sends sparr back in time before he has his fins
- Sparr wants revenge on whoever killed his mother
- Helmet from ko shows a false reality. Showed a scrawny boy as a big knight to attack
- Sparr barely know galen
- Ninns only followed sparr because he was against ko
- Sparr is making everyone think he is working with them so they will do what he says
- We see sparr follow ko to places we have previously heard he was at. Like silversnow
- Find the queen’s dead body by the dark stair
- Ko took zara’s magic and tried to curse galen. Sparr blasted him off the ship. Sparr grew his fins
- Stone in his mothers hand. Convo with her when he took it
- Sparr has a tail??
- Stream has magic that takes away sparr’s tail
- Sparr joins galen and the friends and uses the stone to gain enough power to defeat ko
- Sparr sees his memory of mom dying and finding kem
- sparr jumps into a pit that is exactly halfway across the world from his mom’s tomb. His fins are gone resembling his mom saved him from ko’s curse

I’m glad we got some of sparr’s background, but it could have been done in a better way. I could never tell if we are watching him watch himself or if he is reliving it.

And now the ending!?? Is sparr just gone now? Did he die?

Lord Sparr is the definition of evil. Dark magic runs through his veins. He is the sorcerer whom mighty kingdoms fear. But he also had the most innocent childhood at his time.

In a frenzy to escape his enemies, Sparr somehow gets landed on a deserted place where he meets Beffo, the island troll and is made to relive his childhood and the unfairness he faced after his mother's demise in an attempt for his redemption.

"The Secrets of Droon" is a juvenile fiction series of 44 books by Tony Abbott. In "Sorcerer", the devil Sparr tells his story of how his innocent younger self turned into an incarnation of the evil. This is a good read if you feel like smiling at the end of an exhausting day. But an amazing bed time tale for kids!

Read this book again after something like 15 years because of a prompt to read a book from your childhood to see if it still holds up. Well — it does. This was one of my favorite books as a kid, because it chronicled the childhood and rise to power of the villain that we’d gotten used to throughout the series. This book was a classic “he wasn’t always like this” villain story in a fantastic series for kids, but the scenes in which old/evil Sparr reflects on how he has changed, and even now, how he may be changing again, for the better, still hit me. Death and trauma are what formed him, but relationships and forgiveness later in life are what are changing him. It was a lovely reminder, and a fun jump back to my past.

It was awesome to find out the crucial, unknown story of how Sparr became Sparr. I really like this story. It has a lot of hope and struggle and family and love, which all seem to go together. And Kem the two headed dog is the best pet ever.

Oh man. A story told from adult Sparr's point of view, but a story within a story about when he was young. Didn't see the ending coming! Also very confused about the very end and what exactly happened.

There are already several reviews on this book so I will briefly summarize that it is a book of Lord Sparr's origins. This is a well written youth book.

I've decided to read The Secrets of Droon series entirely for Christmas since i've been feeling a bit nostalgic. I want to be able to live a bit of the magic of being a kid and what beeter to help than this incredible series. I know that this series is for young kids but i feel it will still be great after all these years.
A touching, emotional and incredible book. It is in Sparr's point of view and he is telling the story of how he became the way he was, we learn so much too. This is a touching and powerful addition to the series. I believe it shows a great level of depth and maturity that the series is acquiring but still maintaining the magic and adventure for younger kids. This is one of the best installments of the series and it has a great and powerful message.

This book is all about Sparr, telling about himself. He also looses his fins. Sparr's life is sad, he turns bad when he has fins behind his ears in the end he is good.
