When Lilith fell into lust with musician Aidan, she never expected it to last. And she was right. Her doctor has given her months to live, and telling Aidan is the hardest thing she's ever done.
Aidan has been keeping his own secret. He is a Vampire . . . but he can't turn Lilith to save her. The solution he proposes is illegal and dangerous and breaks every rule set up to protect non-humans from humans. He doesn't care. He will do anything to save the woman he loves.
Discovering the kiss of a Vampire and reveling in the erotic thrill, Lilith realizes her feelings are deeper than lust. But is giving up her humanity worth it?
Shona Husk lives in Western Australia at the edge of the Indian Ocean. Blessed with a lively imagination she spent most of her childhood making up stories.
Very cute and sweet vampire story. Nothing over the top or suspenseful. I like that the vampires were born not made. Overall I would like to read the rest of the books to this series.
Meh. The vampire and were world-building was weak, lots of scientific terminology but not believable. The ending has sort of a HEA - the hero & heroine end up together and in love, but unable to fully express that love (don't want to give the plot detail away). So yeah, meh.
I don't know how to start this review. I liked this story it started out really good and some where got a little weird. Lilith fell into lust with musician Aidan, she never expected it to last. And she was right. Her doctor has given her months to live, and telling Aidan is the hardest thing she's ever done. Aidan has been keeping his own secret. He is a Vampire, but he can't turn Lilith to save her. Here is were it got strange to me Out of all the vampire story that I have read I have never read about them not being able to turn a human into a vampire. Also I couldn't figure out if he was a rockstar or a classical musician. Aiden in his past life was a doctor or still is although he doesn't practice anymore. This was my first time reading this author and this is a first book in a new series. It took until the end of the book to find out that yes he is a rockstar and she was turned into a were-seal. I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
It was a lot shorter than I expected and with that I felt much of the back story was missing. I felt timing was out with the length of their relationship for these revelations. If there was that much deepth and involvement together at least her illness would have been talked about and more than likely family.
Saying that, it was a good vampire profile showing how they interact without discovery, feeding etc and the reason why Were/vampire relationships don't really work.
There certainly a very strong connection and you can understand why there is a willingness to go straight for the extreme. This relationship is the reason this short story made it closer to fours stars for me.
More details on the Fendrake or at least the repercussions would've been good too.
A really cool story that had the potential for greatness had there been more details, back story.
I have some issues and some praise here goes. Omg a rock star vampire!!! Seriously?!?! How hot is that because I was inflamed. I was a little pissed about some of the humans he had relationships with because geez if they are being intimate than who cares if he is a vampire. I like Lilith because she was funny and apprehensive which made it believable. Ok so the book was to short for me. I needed more in order to bond with the characters. This was about a serious condition and it made it seem like it was easy to take care of. The blood was an issue because I mean come on vampires need blood and I hate it when people put rules and laws that scream unbelievable.
"Kissing Phoenix" by Shona Husk is a shifter rocker tale, but with a bit of a twist. What you thought you knew about Vamps is wrong, but Aiden will get you straightened out. Lil, a veterinarian, hooks up with the sexy rock star/electric ensemble Aiden, but they both have been keeping a secret from each other that may destroy the relationship in a blink of an eye. How far are they willing to go for each other?
Interesting beginning to the series "Bitten Backstage", I liked the twists in the Vamp world and rock star image too. Sex scenes were good. I think overall a bit more story development would've made this story 5 stars, but it's good.
I enjoyed this one. It had a nicely developed world and the characters felt fully fleshed out. I do think this is more a happy for now ending (as opposed to a HEA) because I can see the potential for much danger in the future if Aiden loses his control. However, as an HFN, it worked. Bottom line: Shona Husk writes fun, sexy stories. The end.
Great read and not just because he had the thing that I love the most in it. Which is vampires. I loved the plot in the story and I hate that he can't bite her anymore. If only they had came clean with each other a lot sooner than they did and maybe it would've had a different outcome.
I enjoyed how the characters matched and I had a great time reading it.
I loved this unusual romance. Aidan had me bewitched from the start, the heart breaking moments in the story made me cry. Overall I just didn't want the story to end.
