Awesome, I loved this book. Sad to
Say but Frankie got just what he deservesD. He should have taken a lesson from Tyler Perry’s (80/20) love lesson. I don’t feel that Jillian ever really loved him, she just wanted what Camille had with him. Oh well lesson learned.

A captivating read. Though slow at times, I found the novel quite interesting. Tracy Brown is the only writer of urban literature who develops her characters and presents a detailed, entertaining story with each and every publication. She makes urban lit relevant and is a very talented writer. "Aftermath" will not disappoint - trust me!

The things people do to children is horrible and disgusting. Tracy always bring the 🔥🔥in her books. This one did not disappoint.
The chapters were long but each part of the chapter made sense and it made the entire story complete.
I absolutely love this woman’s writing. She left a mark on the book world and opened many doors for urban authors!

What a rollercoaster !?!?!?
This book was absolutely amazing. I listened to it on audible and it was everything. The narrator did a good job reading this book and bringing life to the characters. Definitely give this book a read or a listen.

I loved it!!! Every time I read one of Tracy Brown's books, while I'm reading and enjoying the book, I get sad after I'm done. Because that's when I remember she's no longer with us!!

This is my first time reading Tracy Brown and I have to say she did not disappoint me. I really didn't know if this book was going to be a mystery, thriller, suspense or a Christian book. There was thrills and suspense and sex. Aftermath also has some Christian content but not an overwhelming amount. Just some comments like some one saying a prayer and forgiving someone for their past. I felt it was portrayed in a pleasing way and not over bearing.
Aftermath is the story of Misa, Camille, Toya, and Dominique. Misa and Camille are sisters and Toya and Dominique are their friends. The story opens with Camille coming home to her house and knowing something isn't right. Her sister's car is there and yet all the lights are off. When she walks into the kitchen she sees her brother-in-law on the floor in a pool of blood. Camille goes looking for her sister thinking and worrying that the person who did this could still be in the house. When she finds her sister she is surprised to see her covered in blood and realizes that her sister shot her brother-in-law (BIL).
The story mainly focuses around Misa's crime and how it has affected everyone from her family to her friends. Her sister's marriage is in shambles and the death of Steven (BIL), does not help. Toya and Dominique have their own demons and problems they are dealing with. All find strength from each other and grow during this novel.
As I was reading Aftermath I was able to bring some of the story into my own life. My marriage is going through a similar one as Camille's. I related well to her as being hurt by a cheating husband. I was also able to relate to Misa and wanting to kill Steven from a mothers point of view. Toya and Dominique were two that I related to as some of my friends in real life. Being there to help me when I feel sad or hurt.
Aftermath shows you how having family and friends and god in your life can help you through the rough spots of your life. Family and friends are there to support you and comfort you. The language is at times vulgar, yet I know how sometimes people will talk when they are angry, frustrated, hurt etc. I was able to picture the women talking and the gestures they would use or even their facial features.

Cant believe this is the 50th book I have read in 2011--yaa what an accomplishment only a billion more must reads to go :)..So I would love to review this book thoroughly but hate to give too many spoilers, if you have read the first review this book stays with the same characters and goes right back to where it left off with enough mention of the first book that reading it isnt a prerequisite..So was intrigued to finish this book after reading the first one and unfortunately an uneventful weekend chockful of dental appointments and a really cute date night gave me the opportunity to finish this one and okay actually like it..I thought this was a much better book than the first one and its almost as if all my complaints on the first book are taken in consideration and HANDLED in this book straight up..I liked Dominique's story, her daughter's very mature decision and the way she came around and found a man right for her (I saw myself in her and thought she was the bomb), Camille also did what she had to do in this story and came out as classy and strong not weak and silly as she was in Snapped and that was tight--inspirational to all women who think they need a man or marriage to be whole, then all of Misa's story was revealed and I honestly appreciated the backstory on the murder case--it kept the pages turning as you awaited the verdict and everyone's dirty laundry is laid out and exposed..The time spent going back to the past through the mothers' Celia and Lily's eyes were very poignant and sad and it definitely foretold the future, tragically.. After the hasty ending of the last book this book took the time to explain everything and told a powerful story...Last but not least I actually liked Toya in this story for finally admitting her drama, and exposing herself instead of berating her friends..I think this book was a great follow up and it left everything resolved and for that I can do nothing but respect it--especially after Gillian and Frank finally end up as they deserve I LOVED that part and will look forward to reading more from this author definitely..

Aftermath was a page turner!! I really liked this book. It picks up right where Snapped left off with Misa sitting at the dining room table after murdering Steven. In this book, Frankie's sanity and emotional stability are tested through his changing relationships with Camille and Gillian, and much of his past is revealed testing his relationship with his mother. Toya and Dominique's stories were also a cliffhanger, but their issues are resolved more quickly than Camille, Frankie, and Misa's. The book focuses a lot on the trial, and I began to question whether Misa should go to jail for her crime. Tracy Brown did an excellent job concluding the stories of all four women. These were the first books that I ready by Tracy Brown, and I will check her book list to pick another one. Aftermath is definitely a must read, especially if you read Snapped.

I enjoyed this book more than the preceding one Snapped. Both were good in my opinion, I just felt this one drew me in more. Although a tough topic to hear about, getting to the bottom of Frankie and his deceased brother's childhood abuse really showed how that can affect one as they grow into adulthood. You never know what someone is going through or has been through. Camille, Misa, Dominique and Toya all had to make some tough decisions and showed tremendous growth by opening up and facing their past as well as their present. You couldn't help but feel for these ladies and wish them the best. Frankie seemed to be able to grow as well despite his wrong doings. Sometimes you can't run from your past, you gotta face it to make it to your future without the old baggage.

This was a great sequel to "Snapped". I actually enjoyed this novel better than the first, but you absolutely have to read Snapped first to understand the characters. My heart broke while listening to the testimonies at the trial. Misa is my shero! It was also nice to see Camille's character evolve and show such strength. Tracy Brown is a great writer. I was captivated and couldn't stop listening.

“Snapped,” was good but “the aftermath,” blew it out the water. More sound effects, phones and doorbells ringing. Everything we want to happen, happens. Camille gets some peace, Justice is served. Misa and Baron redeem themselves a little. We figure out what tf is wrong with Toya. She actually has a lot in common with Frankie

I recieved this book through the Early Reviewers program on Librarything. As the descrption of the book was intriguing, I was excited when I received this book in the mail. Aftermath is different than most books that I typically chose to read. I read more of the Christian fiction and Chick-lit genre, so suffice it to say I found the language to be a bit saltier than I'm used to. Aftermath deals with many in your face subjects, i.e. infidelity, murder, abortion, organized crime, and child sexual abuse. All of these subjects are certainly ones out of my comfort zone, so it was hard at times to not want to skip these parts of the book. But doing so, would water down the context of the story and the impact of the overall plot would be lost. There are a lot of characters involved in the telling of this story and at times I did get confused on who belonged to who. I feel that Tracy Brown, the author of Aftermath, is very compelling in the fine details of the subjects at hand. She kept my interest in the main topic, the murder, and I was eagerly awaiting the point where I could find out the verdict of the trial. The situations presented in Aftermath are ones that I have never been subjected to in my own life and it has opened my eyes to the grief and sadness that people in the world have to deal with.

Brown has to be the top female urban fiction author IMO. Brown's books aren't the "usual" urban fiction. You don't pick up a Tracy Brown book and get T. Styles in return. You get an actual author who can write. One who obviously thought beforehand, made decisions about what would be best here and there and moved on it.
I've known people who thought they wouldn't ever like urban fiction. They've come to this conclusion because most of the genre is like Styles and a host of others names I can't remember at the moment. When I meet someone like that I tell them to read Brown, Dwayne S. Joseph or one of the select other few who continuously push out winners. They never release crap.
If the genre were all like this it'd be HUGE. I don't care if you're black, white 20 or 90, male or female, Brown's books are good and that's the end of it. Even if I didn't care for her stories I could never say she's a poor writer. She's anything but.
This was an awesome sequel to Snapped and I can't wait to read more. (Actually, I can wait. It makes it better and I know she's taking the time to put out quality material.) Unlike the 7 book series from no name "authors" that haven't even been edited.
Brown will always be a favorite of mine and if that hadn't already been cemented Aftermath would have seen to it.

The main plot of Aftermath revolves around Misa, who killed her sister, Camile's, brother-in-law Steven, because she suspected that he had molested her child. The story is complicated from the start, but definitely a page turner! Even though every character seems to be in the midst of their own personal chaos, each of their stories links back to the main event, Steven's murder.
Tracy Brown does an excellent job of peeling back the layers of each character, allowing the reader to understand the how's and why's of their actions. The story is complicated, but never confusing...which is what I loved about it. You can totally understand the motives of the characters, whether you agreed with their actions or not.
Nicely written, held my attention from beginning to end. I recommend that you read it for yourself!

This was a good book. I enjoyed it better than book #1 to the series. This was the story of the lives of 4 close female friends after Misa killed Steven, Frankie left Camille, Dominique dealing with her relationship with her daughter, and Toya coming to grips with her childhood. Toya remained my favorite in this book. She kept it 100. Misa and Camille remained close nit sisters and supported each other no matter what. I loved that aspect of the book. Misa's lawyer was the bomb. This book reminded me that there are some really good people still in this world. A strong lesson in the book was don't rush in your relationship with the opposite sex. One stand out theme of the book was that you can't do people wrong and think that it won't come back to bite you in the behind.

This is the second book i read of Tracy Brown, the first being Snapped. I love the way AfterMath picked right up from where Snapped ened. It was so good i didn't want to put it down.
I love how everything played out for each of the characters at the end.

It was a good book but it wasn't nearly the level of the first book. Some parts didn't make sense in my view but i thought the story with Octavia was interesting, if she were older she would have known that that relationship spelt trouble. I think in our teenage years everyone has to learn this.
What didn't make sense however was the fact that we are told in the first book that Steven (Frankies brother) had a crush on Misa and even asked if he could go out with her after she comes back to Frankies home from Baron Knobles. Yet he molests Shane after showing apparent interest in the mother of the child? It didn't make sense and it confused me through out the second book.
Also it didn't make sense to me how Camille got pregnant, and it just came out of the blue with no indication in the first book.
Toyas story line with her dad was okay, it was nice to know a backstory on her childhood.
Dominic finds a new man after Toya convinces her that Jamel is not good for her.
The court scenes were good, i was hoping they would throw a swerve ball into the case having someone else commit the crime unfortunately that wasn't the case. I did like however that everyone was able to make up at the end. I felt really sorry for Misa when no one believed her. One of the best books and sequels I read so far this year! This book and Snapped have left me wanting more! I need to know how Misa and Shane are. I need to know if Baron got back on his feet and will he be in love with Misa. I need to know if Archie and Dominique became a power couple in love. I need to know if Octavia continued to make her mother proud. I need to know how Camille and the baby are doing. I need to know if Eli was man Camille needed and could be a family with. I need to know if hard ass Toya is still in love with ugly Russell. I need to know if Frankie's weak ass really became a great father. I need to know what the egg on his face looked like when he read that note the ice queen left. I need to know if Gillian will ever get hit with some real KARMA!

This was SUCH. Good book! Reminded me of Waiting to Exhale + Set It Off. I really enjoyed how Tracy ended this story. The sisterhood was at times really funny but always super realistic.
The trial was so exciting and it made me feel like I was watching a real case.
The life of crime is NOT a glamorous one no matter how beautiful people make it seem and I feel like everyone except Gillian learned that lesson. I think Frankie was open to learning that but Gillian was just ruthless all the way to the end. I’d love to read another story completely about her. Does that exist? 🤔

I wanted another book to finish up and answer all the questions from Snapped and I got it. I couldn't put this book down! I was gripped from the beginning to the end and I noticed many times my stomach was clenched with the suspense of it all. I had to stop myself from glancing to the next page to get a clue as to what was going to happen.
The ending of this book was far different from Snapped and it felt concluded. I wasn't left with a WTF feeling as things felt unfinished and I needed more answers to the questions that had been formed. There was a finish with no more questions.
I would recommend this series to anyone and I think I've found a new favorite author. I will be reading more of her books and I hope that I am as equally enthralled with them as I was with Snapped and Aftermath.

I would recommend this series to anyone and I think I've found a new favorite author. I will be reading more of her books and I hope that I am as equally enthralled with them as I was with Snapped and Aftermath.

This story was intense. Gave us a perspective on the lives of victims in assaults and homicides.
Misa's character portrays a lot of first-time moms. Young and overstimulated by the duties of single motherhood. Unfortunately, the children tend to suffer in these situations.
Camille gave so much grace in her situation and only wanted what was owed to her. She was bitter just hurt but allowed Frank to move on in peace. I'm glad she had a great support system.
My heart broke for Shane. I hope his early childhood experiences don't keep him from being a successful adult. I hate that Steven was able to get the proper help and healing he needed to overcome the demons he was facing.
Definitely a five-star read!

After the ending of Snapped, I could not wait to read the sequel and Tracy Brown did NOT disappoint! I love how the girls stood strong for each other. I would've preferred for Frankie to take a long trip on a short bridge but hey at least he got what he deserved in the end...somewhat🙄 but Gillian.... She's a WHOLE trip. I need a spin off featuring her as she takes over. All in all, this book was a page turner and I really enjoyed it.

This book was better than the 1st book. I still love the friendship that the group shares. Misa story was so intense in this book. She was a mother that did what she had to do at the time. I hated the fact that Camilla was a real air head for Frankie after all he took her through. I knew Toya was going to fall for the man she kept calling ugly. And last but no least Jillian ,its about time she took some of her dad advice.
