Women A Celebration of Strength

Rate this book
A Celebration of Strength is a fact-filled, boldly designed interactive book with surprises on every page, including pop-ups and our nation's most important documents on women's history. By exploring women's experiences in art, culture, sports, careers and politics, the book presents the challenges and celebrates the achievements of all women-from your local hero to those in the national spotlight. Flipping through the book is like walking through an interactive museum exhibit with hands-on features that make the issues of the past and present come alive. The idea behind the book's creation is to encourage us (and our children) to learn from these brave women's example and to help Legal Momentum continue their legacy. All proceeds from this book support Legal Momentum and help to achieve its goals of advancing women's rights in the 21st century.

I got this as a christmas gift last year (and didn't read it until now because I'm a bad niece), and it's a fun overview of the history of women's rights in America. With pop-up sections, fold out pages, and hidden pockets, it's a flashback to the elementary mindset for adult readers. This didn't cover anything in a great amount of detail (any one of the topics covered have filled multiple books, so you can safely assume that the authors left out nearly everything), but is a wonderful introduction to womens' issues and feminism. This is a book that I would recommend or gift to others.

As a woman I loved reading about the women who vote for the rights I have now. The pictures allowed you to see the women who were being honored. They were interesting facts and props to keep you reading. A very quick read but full of information.
