This book has a wonderful combination of elements. The personifaction are well suited for the art picures and characters. Realism is used in an interesting way in that the personifications communicate beauty. However, the use of expressionism is more evident because those personifications are also used to express ideas. The whole book tells a story without the use of words and is very appealing to the eye, which is really cool!! I think this book could be a good media example!!!
The Monster Book of Manga: Fairies and Magical Creatures is a great way to learn how to draw, well, fairies and magical creatures. The only thing bad is that they assume that you've majored in Art in college..... Not everyone knows all the stuff they want you to do. It's detailed, though, and shows you what to do if you want to paint your splendifferous picture.
This is one of the giant sample books made by European manga artists. While it does not have much in the way of instructions, the works portrayed are beautiful and professionally made. This can be used by any manga artist as a reference when making their own.
