I started SheWolf about a day or so ago and I probably would have finished it yesterday if I wasn't up working late. It's one of those books you start and you know you should be in bed but you can't stop reading no matter how many times you promise yourself "I'll stop at the end of this chapter".

Right from the start the story engages you with complex characters who live and breathe right off the page. I wanted to keep following Anna and Kieran around and loved being entrenched in their world. Anna's struggles, although otherworldly, are still identifiable and you want to root for her to overcome her fears, struggles and go get her man! I loved how independent and strong she was while still allowing her femininity to rise to the surface.

Kieran on the other hand. Wooo doggie. And I mean that literally. Very alpha, very masculine and VERY HOT, I could smell his testosterone as it dripped from each word. Personally I'm not one for alpha domineering males in real life but like most romance readers when it comes in the form of paranormals it is very very sexy in the hero. There is one scene where the hero demands something of the heroine that nearly melted my palm pilot, I'll tell ya that much.

Woo! *Fans self* Where was I...

Ah yes.

The hero and heroine very hot together and the love scenes are seriously smoking here. Very well written. Also what I loved about the story is how there's so much emotion. One minute you're on edge with fear, then excitement, then anger and then overcome with sadness. Not many books lately, although good reads, have been able to make me feel such a range. I had to stop myself from finishing the book or else it'd be over. And, readers, you know how much that sucks because of how much you've invested in the characters.

If and when this comes out in paperback I'm definitely adding this one to my keeper shelf. It's currently available in ebook format and I urge you readers out there if you haven't tried an ebook, trot on over to Freya's Bower and download a copy.

I'm also reading Blood Martyr but as it comes out in short chapter formats I must wait with much anticipation for the next one to come out. Hopefully it's soon! :-D

A tale of two halves. First 50%, 1 star. The second, 4 stars.

Five years ago, when this was first published, the language used, in the first half in particular, wouldn't have seemed so cliched. The pace was slow and I didn't feel anything for the characters. But when Annabelle meets the pack things start to change. And then something devastating happens and Anna's emotions reached out and grabbed my throat, squeezing until my eyes watered. The only thing I didn't like about that part: when Kieran and Annabelle reunite they don't talk about the or address the effect it's had on them and how they'll proceed with their future.

As for Ryland, I suspect the author's going to do a Kleypas and turn our wannabe rapist into a hero. It takes immense talent to accomplish that and considering his behaviour throughout Shewolf I'm not confident his change in character would successfully win me over and convince me he's a good guy deep down.

This book was so much better than expected. I got this book for free because of a promotion action on a romance e-books site. The blurb sounded like it was an erotic/romance book and it was about werewolves. So I decided to give it a try. I didn't expect any depth, just a nice and simple romance story. And I was really surprised when I did not only found a great romance story, but also a great story and some depth.

When I started this book I was imediately intrigued. Anna is a vet, but always has this enhanced sense of smell and some other strange things. She never thought anything of it, until one night she get's attacked by two men, who are actually wolven (werewolfs). Slowly she learns more about the wolven and falls in love. While the romance does happen fast it also goes a bit more slowly at times. Anna not just immediately accepts everything and actually takes her time to think about it. The story is simple, but very thought through. I also liked the world building, it's not a huge world to get introduced to, but the things we learn where done very good.

I also really liked Anna, she is such a strong character and takes her time to think things thorugh and she does things her way. I really liked her. The other character do get much less attention. I actually would've liked learning a bit more about the other characters. The story is also pretty simple in terms of plot, but I still enjoyed it. I think the story could've been a bit more better or elaborate and it was a bit short. But the book felt longer than it actually was.

I also think that the story had a very nice mix between romance and story. The focus is not on one of the two, instead there is a nice mix of both of them.

To conclude: a nice romance story, with more depth than expected. I liked the story and world building. I really liked the main character, but I would've liked seeing more from the other characters perspective. I am certainly going to check out the other books by this author. I would recommend it to anyone who likes a book with good romance(and some sex) and a nice story.

I borrowed this from a friend who knows I enjoy shifter stories. It started out right into the action, which I loved. (Nothing worse for me that waiting 5 or 6 chapters for the story to go somewhere.) But....I didn't love it. I never warmed up to the heroine, who seemed not exactly closed minded, but almost too sure of herself and her knowledge, to be likeable. I also had an issue with her turnaround: she morphs from "these people are all insane" to "I am so glad I'm one of them" literally in sentences. It didn't feel right.
The hero of our story is a former Alpha who gave up his leadership for reasons I considered eye rolling . There's also two scenes he's heavily involved in that made me want to scream in frustration.
The writing itself is not an issue, no grammar or punctuation problems, but the flow was a bit choppy and uneven. Overall, I would give this a 2.5 - readable but not something I'd re-read or recommend.

In SheWolf, Anna portrays a veterinarian, but she’s not just any vet. She’s got special abilities that have made her stand apart her whole life. In one evening, everything changes and things become very clear when Kieran Hunter, a wolven, jumps into her life...

I bought this after seeing this #1 on an ebook list on goodreads. This must be one of the best shifter stories I have read in a while. I love the characters and the world she is creating and can only beg for more!

This was a fun book - I love a good PNR - those Alpha males are just so ... hot :)

Anna is a veterinary, she loves her job, and her friends. so when one of her assistants just turned 21, and wanted to go to a bar to watch the male show, she had to go..
Growing up Anna had always had a sharp sense of smell. She could distinguish different smells everywhere. And in a closed up bar with all that smoke and sweaty people. ugh! She had to get out of there.

She finally made it outside. gulping in air, she was distracted enough not to notice the scent of the stranger coming towards her. When she did notice him, she backed up.. right into the arms of another stranger. He tightened his grip on her and covered her mouth.

The guy in front, Joshua told the guy in back, Rayland that Anna would make the perfect mate. Fear streamed through Anna as she heard the two talking. "Let me go" But the guys just laughed at her. There was nothing she could do.

The men taunted her a little longer before showing their true identity. When Rayland shifted halfway into a werewolf, she did everything she could think of to convince herself it was a special effects, or she was drugged.
She'll make a great mother. Perfect for the pack."
"No, no I don't think I will .. I un... I can't have kids... so you don't want me. Go try another bar."

They didn't believe her, but she knew the cold hard truth. Even her doctor couldn't figure out why she didn't ovalate. She was not able to have children.

Just as she started to panic, she heard the voice <"The lady said she's not interested, Joshua."

Rayland’s arms tightened around her waist. Joshua and Kieran fought. Anna fainted, and Joshua died. When Kieran turned to Rayland and told him to let her go. He let it be known that he was not going to forget this. Anna would be his.

Kieran took Anna home in her car. Since he didn't know where she lived, he took her to His home.
Laying her in his bed where she belonged. He scented her as his true mate. He couldn't believe it.

Their species were close to dyeing out. Their females were only fertile once a year, and there were few She Wolves around

When Anna woke, she remembered the night before. She realized she was in Kieran's home. He saved her from those two guys.
When she found him sleeping on the couch, she couldn't understand the reaction her body was giving off.. she had never felt this way before.

When he awoke, they talked about what she remembered last night. She told him that they wanted her to bare their children, but she wasn't able to have children. Kieran disagreed with her. In fact, he scented her so strongly, he knew she was going into Heat

She went home and back to work. For 3 days Kieran left her alone, and her body was going crazy. She had started thinking about what they had talked about, and was ready to try to except what was happening.

A Lot of time passed :) and Anna was getting ready to head out to Kieran's compound to meet his family/Pack - she was nervous. But when they got there. 2 wolves ran past her, and then they heard shouting. Both her and Kieran ran to see what was going on. 2 werewolves and a regular wolf was shot. Being a Veterinary, she put her skills to work and helped get the silver bullets out of the wolves.

SOMEONE was hunting the wolves!

This was a great romance story - the chemestry between Kieran and Anna is great.

Cute Quick read :)

This story jumped right into the action when Anna couldn't stand the assault on her sensitive senses that the bar offered and went outside for some fresh air. She is almost immediately assaulted by two men claiming to be werewolves and they want her for breeding purposes. Before she can process this fantastic information, a third man shows up. Everything about this Kieran is breathtaking and attractive to her. James the captor who seems to be in charge fights Kieran. From within the partially changed arms of the werewolf Ryland, she watches the other two battle. Kieran offers James an out, but he won't take it so Kieran is forced to kill James. Kieran was distracted the whole time by the powerful scent of the woman. She was his true mate. This knowledge makes him even more dangerous when he sees her still being held by Ryland. After he backs down Ryland because he is the more alpha, he sets about explaining to Anna. It is too much for her to process.

Over several days, Anna learns the real state of affairs even as she goes about her business at her veterinary clinic. She loves being with Kieran, but is terrified of the changes in herself. He teaches her that she is half-wolven and that she is experiencing being in heat for her mate, him. Ryland is still trying push her into mating with him. Finally, she acknowledges her feelings and determines that she will accept Kieran as mate. And naturally that is when everything falls apart. A trip to visit his wolf pack is just in time for her to back down the alpha's mate and attend to some wounded wolves brought in who are shot with silver from mysterious hunters. At the same time it is noted that the alpha wolf is missing. After saving their lives, she turns to Kieran only to see withdrawal and sadness in Kieran's eyes. What has she done wrong? Why is he pushing her away? I'll stop there so as not to give any spoilers.

But you get the picture. This plot is pretty intense. Kieran and Anna are passionate together. They must take turns fighting for each other through each challenge that comes their way. There is danger and a few twists near the end besides the romance. As to the world building, I liked how there was that dichotomy in the wolvens and that they are portrayed as different from their human counterparts.

The characters are introduced quickly and there is heat between Kieran and Anna instantly due to their matehood, but love is not instant nor is it easy. They are written with depth and I really liked them. Even though Ryland was a pain in the rear trying to interfere, I want him to find his mate too.

I look forward to what the rest of the series has to bring.

From the moment that Anna steps out of the nightclub and into the arms of two werewolves (wolven) in the opening scene, I was hooked on She Wolf. In fact the first chapter was one of the best opening sequences to a book I’ve read. It had the right mix of action, interest and emotion. The author perfectly details the scene by allowing the reader to experience the situation using Anna’s better-than-normal sense of smell and inner voice.

Anna is accosted by two rough males - she can sense that they are up to no good, but Anna is unaware of the danger she truly faces. Like most humans, she does not know about the existence of shifters, and when she sees one of her attackers start to “go wolf” she assumes it’s all trickery. Then she sees another stranger, but she is drawn to him. I love that when our hero, Kieran, shows up, Anna can sense his goodness. And the first time they touch (innocently!) sparks fly - literally. I’m a big sucker for the “one true mate” love stories and this is one of those stories.

Anna and Kieran quickly get to know each other. And although this is definitely an “alpha male” story, Anna holds her ground and does things on her terms. She is a strong individual that can handle any situation. In fact, when our alpha-boy goes weak and wimpy, it is Anna that fights for her man and then forces him to prove he’s worth the fight.

The story flowed nicely - moving from the open scene, to the “get to know you” to the “we have problems” and then “fight for each other” scenarios. There were a few plot points that left me slightly annoyed, but overall the story was much stronger than a few errors or confusion. The biggest issues I had came at the end of the story. I really felt that I could have used about 2-3 more chapters to play out some of the events that only took a few sentences to explain. I felt a bit cheated after such a fun, emotional ride to be told “this is what happened next.”

However, I am pleased that the second book of the series, Dark Succession, is already available for my reading pleasure, and I have been told by Ms. D’Amario that some of my questions will be answered. I recommend this book - especially if you enjoy shifter and/or predestined mating stories. It is a highly enjoyable read.

My Rating: #3.5 stars.

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. It pulled me in with the first chapter and kept my interest throughout, though it did have its moments of lagging in the middle. It wasn't the best book I've ever read, but it was good. I felt connected to the characters and even got a little teary eyed when Anna went to see her mother. I won't say more because I don't like having spoilers in my reviews.

At times I felt like choking Kieran for letting himself get so distracted he would conveniently forget he needed to tell Anna something important. The attraction between them was so strong and the sexual tension between the two nearly melted my phone at times. I admired the way Kieran fought for self control when he knew Anna wasn't ready for the next step in their relationship. I would like to have learned more about his background with his brother. I am hoping he gets a book of his own sometime in the series thought I know it isn't the next one. I was very pleased to see Matthew turn out to be who he was. I wanted more details with his character, but appreciated the side story and how it tied in with the rest of the book.

Overall, I gave this a solid 4 stars and look forward to reading more in the series. Teresa D'Amario is definitely an author I'd like to read more often. This was a quick read between books in another series to give me a break for a bit and I was able to finish it in a weekend. I recommend it to any fan of shifters. Nothing outrageously different here, just a good solid story that is told well.

The Wolven and His She Wolf

Anna Calloway it the Veterinarian in her small town. She has always had a heightened sense of smell and the ability to absorb pain but Anna has never known just how special she is or why she has these gifts.

Kieran Hunter is the Protector of his wolven race. His job is to watch and hunt down those of his kind that could bring danger to his pack or would expose his race to the humans.

While patrolling Kieran finds two wolven about to kidnap a woman and he immediately goes to protect her. Anna tries to get away from the two men but they are too strong and she is confused by what they are saying and what she is seeing. Kieran orders the men away from Anna and now thing are about to get a lot worse because they are not about to give her up easily. Kieran will have fight to save Anna and it doesn't take his sense long to realise who and what she is. Anna will have to learn what her gift really mean and Kieran will have to convince her that she belongs with him.

I loved reading She Wolf it had a great balance between story and romance never losing one to enhance the other and I look forward to reading the next instalment of this series.

The Reading order for the True Mates Series is :

I've been in a paranormal rut lately, and in need of a really good and sexy story when this was recommended to me. I enjoyed Anna and Kieran's characters. Kieran is a tortured ex pack alpha who has found his true mate. Anna is a lonely veterinarian. I liked the chemistry between the two and I liked that Kieran had his "Mine" moment. I liked being a fly on the wall as their love story unfolded.

There were some things that made me yell, like

I also still had questions when the story was over that I'm sure will either never be answered or will be addressed in the next book if there is one.

Overall, I laughed, I got all teary eyed, I got angry, and I smiled. What more can I ask for from a reading experience?

Story - 3.25
Narrator - 2.5

I believe this was my first experience with this narrator (Thomas Miller). He wasn't bad at all, but there were times when he over dramatized the story giving it a cheesy feel. I think with some more experience in the romance genre he could do well.

Such a great, romantic, exciting, action packed paranormal read!

Anna is out celebrating her veterinary assistants 21st birthday. She decides to step out for some fresh air because it's too stuffy inside the club. Once outside two big males attempt to kidnap her. They claim they will mate with her, they are wolf shifters and she will bare children for them. Anna tries and says everything and anything she can think of to get them to let her go. But nothing is working. Out of the shadows another male comes out and tell the two to let her go. That does not go over well and he ends up fighting with one of the kidnappers and winning! The other kidnapper retreats and Anna is left there alone with him, Kieran (boy is he hot!)

Anna becomes more confused as time passes. All the new information she is told is hard to absorb. She is now a part of a new (to her) world inside of the only world she knows. Her world! Kieran tells her they are true mates and Anna does not believe what he says. She is still finding this new reality very hard to swallow. Even with proof of most that has been said laid before her.

Many twists, turns and surprises unfold as the story goes on. Together Anna and Kieran let the hands of fate guide them. Sometimes you just have to love fate :)

Anna has never had any reason to believe werewolves existed, until she got up close and personal with three of them in a dark alley. Two were planning to rape her, but the third stepped in and rescued her. Her savior's name is Kieran, and while his intentions were only to protect Anna at first, he quickly realizes that she is his True Mate.

Despite an intense physical attraction to Kieran, Anna has some trouble accepting the idea of mating. But in time, she can no longer deny what her body is telling her. I really enjoyed the courtship between these two. Kieran is definitely alpha, but he treats Anna with patience and care. The sexual tension is great and the payoff is even better.

There is a bit of danger/suspense thrown in at the end. It seemed to come out of left field and it was wrapped up really quickly... but it helped pave the way for some big developments for Anna & Kieran. We were also introduced to some interesting secondary characters, like Ryland and Monica. Hopefully, we'll see more of them in future books.

It was sensual and engaging. I liked it. 4 stars.

I enjoyed this book. I really liked Kieran and Anna. The characters were well written and likeable. I felt bad for Kieran hearing his history and why he gave up being alpha. I also felt bad for Matthew and was glad when Anna's parents got a happy ending as well as her and Kieran though their story was very much in the background and only brief. I'm curious as to who Ryland smelled at the end and what it could mean if his true mate is a wolven from Kieran's pack? Could it be grounds for a possible alliance between the packs incase the Hyena wasn't working alone and his partner causes more trouble for the pack? It was very emotional towards the end but just about everything worked out in the end.

This was a slick story.

Meaning that you just have to go along with the major jumps in the story line because otherwise you might not make it....

She is a vet and dogs respond well to her... she meets someone who makes her feel sexy
is this too transparent for you...

there are some twists which can catch you unaware...

some characters are introduced more fully than others - leading to a series... hopefully.

by the end of the story I wanted to know what will happen to these people...
she finds her father and her mother is reunited with him.
It could have been longer but it did not leave out too much...

A nice, if predictable, novella on a couple of alpha (of course) shifters.
Kudos to the author: even with the usual mate stuff, she gives some time and space to the heroine. I'm only sorry for the use of as a deus ex machina. Too difficult a subject to treat it so quickly.

Character coherence went to hell with a minor one: Rynard. You don't move from would-be rapist to "nice" guy.

A few hints given go nowhere (like the stolen silver scalpel).

A whole new wolven world. I love when an author creates a new world for their book. Teresa D'Amario definitely did here. I hope there is more to come from this world. I would love to read more about Sean, Ryland, Nora and follow up on Anna and Kieran.

This was a very moving read. I love when the hero has to work for the heroine. And that was definitely the case here. Anna had to work to believe all that Kieran told her. She had no idea she was half wolven or that they even existed until him.

My copy had a lot of errors that made it hard to read... It wasn't even 100 pages, not really long enough to get too involved and the ending didn't fill finished - Kieran is just back being the alpha, the other alpha's mate just left, Mom and dad are just back together just like that, scapel still missing, takeover still not figured out?? There is another book to this series, maybe it will clear these things up??

I liked Ms. D'Amario's take on the Werewolf, and I especially loved the characters of Anna & Kieren. Although it wasn't pitch perfect (a little slow in a few areas, and not to mention bordering on corniness), this was a decent read with an unexpected twist at the end. Well worth the moola spent & the time needed to read it..

I'm giving it a rating of 3 stars.

Shewolf by Teresa D’Amario

I just found myself another series to start reading…yah! A well written book and it was a full length one at that with 18 chapters to entertain me. I got this one back in April at All Romance when it was free, not so now when I checked. I will be continuing the series to find out what happens with some of the other characters mentioned in this book.
