I finished this last night...a whole series in one day, wow, but then again they were not the longest of books. They were evenly spread and layed out though and I really realllly enjoyed it. When you read so much that it gets to the point that somethings dont surprise you, and then have somthing do just that, surprise you, it's so sweet.
I liked this last book best in the series, but it left me wanting. Again, like the others, the book was not long enough. Just as the story line was getting exciting, the climax ends abruptly and then it was gooey. Ugh! If 3.5 stars were an option I would have rated it that, but it does not deserve 4.
There's a lot Linzi doesn't know, both good and bad. As far as Erik's mother knows, he is dead. He needs to get back to Denmark and take the crown, whether or not he wants it. His mother is there to guide him. As far as he knows, Cousin Malcolm is dead and Linzi is safe with her family. Finally, though, Erik discovers things that send him in worried flight to Scotland. His Uncle Edward is next in line after him, and so he abdicates in favor of his uncle. A miserable trip across the sea later, he has his horse ready as soon as the longboat is beached. All day and all night he and the horse slog through the countryside to Linzi's place. Malcolm, you see, wasn't really dead. The childhood friend who married her seems unwilling to consummate their marriage. Later, she finds out he was paid to keep Linzi in one place...not that it does him any good. Malcolm is, after all, an expert in the double cross. When it looks like Malcolm has the upper hand fighting an exhausted Erik, Linzi takes matters into her own hands - very cleverly. As they are reacquainted with one another, in every way, their dream to live together on the farm and make a go of it is coming true. The widow who runs the bakery and gave Linzi sweets when she was young, offers to take care of Linzi's dad when she has an errand to run. Her widower father remarries, and Linzi's brother's friend does the only good thing he does there - the good of making a smaller house for the newlyweds, who like to enjoy their grandson. In the epilogue, their lives are followed a few years later. This is the final book and is a little longer than the first 2. There are explicit sex scenes, which give the lie to the author's claim that this is a love story, not erotica. Thankfully, it's not as explicit as the 2nd book. Still, anything with explicit sex scenes IS erotica. If the author wants to make it a love story, the sex descriptions need to be omitted.
Ok I'm just gonna come right out and say that the turn of events with Erik leaving was shit! I understand why and that leaving her was best but damn he sure left for a long time. Then she had to go and marry someone else? They were both living lives that distracted them from loving each other, it was torcher! I did not enjoy reading the book without them together! But in the end everything tyed together like it should and they came back around to love each other even more than before, it was a beautiful ending...
This was a very good book! I'll admit I was furious at parts because it wasn't going the way i wanted it to. The ending was very good though! I loved this series and definitely recommend it!
Celtic Mann by Lexy Timms is the final conclusion in the Heart Of The Battle Trilogy. Lots of ups and downs, this really was just a great series that I thoroughly enjoyed!! My only complaint is that it was too short!
The lives of a Scottish lass who has met and bedded a Danish Viking prince become more complicated and then resolve. A few language and historic issues disrupted my "suspension of disbelief" but a very enjoyable story
Oh wow, what a book....I'm glad that things got better for Linzie and Erik, even though the things they had to go through. I really enjoyed the storyline and the history that went with this book. All up....I enjoyed all 3 books in this series.
I am crying at this point. I have screamed at the injustice of it all, wailed at the absolute hearlessness, and cheered as our two lovers triumph through tragedy and overcome whatever destiny and fate had predetermined from their births! This love story was so damn good I DID NOT STOP READING until I had devoured all 3 books in the series. It is a series I know I will read over and over and I am now a confirmed stalker of Author Lexy Timms and everything she writes in the future. Thank you so very much for such a beautiful experience! I cannot recommend this series enough to anyone thinking of reading it. You will have a smile on your face for days after thinking about what you've read.
oh my oh my....love how the story went, with all the ups and downs and wanting to continuing reading till I was overly satisfied with the way the story telling went. You are dragged into this Heart of the Battle Series that you have to get all the book and read and read.....I am hoping for more in this series, but about some of the other characters in the books! A nice love story....
This series was fantastic. From the start of book one to the end of this book, I was riveted. HEA ending. Amazing characters. Perfect storyline. I couldn't have asked for better!
A lovely story as it is the ending Eric and Kenai deserve. These three books are a wonderful story, too bad f2f hey aren't just one book, it would make more sense. But I loved the story!
