Soul Possession by Maya Banks Maya Banks starts this anthology off with a bang, throwing you right into the burning fires of passion. Two detectives and best friends, Rick and Truitt, frequent a bar where the meet pretty waitress Jessie Callahan. Both men want her, so instead of fighting over her and potentially ruining their friendship they decide to go after her together. Finally convincing her to join them in a ménage a trios Rick and Truitt bring Jessie home for a night to remember, only afterwards they want more than just one night. But when they find out the next morning that Jessie is a prime murder suspect can they believe that she is innocent, or did she just use them as an alibi?
Soul Possession was hot hot hot, but the relationship aspect of the story was a bit unbelievable to me. These two alpha men want Jessie for themselves, are each possessive of her, but decide that they can share her with each other. The sharing just didn’t jive with their characters and I didn’t see how a happy future was possible for the three of them together. The suspense was interesting, with a few twists thrown in, but due to the novella length maybe, I didn’t feel that it reached its full potential. At least, what I’ve come to expect from Maya Banks. Overall though, Rick and Truit were sexy as all get out and it was still a good little read that had me fired up for the rest of the anthology.
Wanted by Karin Tabke Bad-boy cop and ladies man, Colin Daniels, is sent to guard a high profile criminal’s soon-to-be ex-wife, Sophia Gilletti, and bring her out of hiding and to New York to testify against him. He has 24 hours to deliver her to his superiors before he’s a wanted man himself. When Colin comes face-to-face with Sophia though, after rescuing her from a hit man, she seems a little too familiar. Can this be the same girl that disappeared with his heart over a decade ago? Danger follows the pair on their journey but it doesn’t stop the desire that still burns strong between them.
This was my first taste of Karin Tabke’s work, though I have read her series under Karin Harlow, and wow - am I craving some more now! Despite being only a little over 100 pages, Wanted was bursting with romance, action and suspense. I really enjoyed this pair reuniting and getting to delve into each of their characters. Both have some tragedy and insecurities to deal with but they bring the best out in each other, not to mention their sizzling attraction and how Colin is smokin' hot! *fans self* A great read!
Taking the Heat by Sylvia Day This was my favorite story out of the anthology! Layla Creed has been in witness protection, given a whole new life and identify for the murders she witnessed, but it is time to come out of hiding and take the stand against the man who killed her friend and protector. Federal Marshal Brian Simmons fills in for the assignment and walks into a disaster when he goes to pick Layla up. The man Layla is set to testify against does not want her making it to California and will do anything to stop her but Brian will put his life on the line before he lets anything happen to the woman he loved and let walk away five years ago.
I absolutely loved this story of second chances! Taking the Heat was filled with danger, excitement and raw passion. The chemistry between Layla and Brian was intense, bursting through the pages, and the sex scenes out of this world. The reconnecting of this pair tugged on my heart strings as they worked out their misunderstandings and insecurities over their past relationship, hoping to build a solid foundation for a new one within three days. With a full and vivid plot, relatable and sex-ay characters and a humorous and naughty dialogue - this was one story that I did not want to end!
A super sexy anthology by three awesome, must-read authors about strong, feisty women determined to get those spectacularly sexy men out of their uniforms and into their beds for good!
Soul Possession by Maya Banks - This story seriously disappointed me. I didn't like the threesome aspect of the story. Truitt and Rick have been frequenting a bar where Jessie is a waitress for a few weeks. After a couple of weeks of seeing her at work and minimal conversation, they both want her and after one night with her, they both develop feelings for Jessie. I know that this is a novella and that the plot has to progress quickly, but I did not find it believable. And then to throw into the pot Jessie being accused of murder and then being threatened by a serial killer, I felt it was too much for only 140 pages. For me, there was really no suspense in this story. When the killer was revealed, it was anti-climatic and I didn't really care. Rating: D-
Wanted by Karin Tabke - I really liked this one. I loved the history between Colin and Sophia. Colin is a very sexy hero and is not the whoring douche that people thinks he is. There's more to him that meets the eye and you see a different side of him when he's around Sophia. The story was very sexy and hot and the plot was great and full of action. I didn't feel like anything was missing. This story could have easily been a full-length novel because there was so much going on. Rating: B+
Taking the Heat by Sylvia Day - My favorite story. I loved Brian and Layla's chemistry. It was off the charts. Brian is a dirty talker and is commanding in bed. He's not afraid of expressing what he wants. This novella had some of the best lines that made me giggle and the best sex scenes that made me grab a towel to sit on. Brian and Layla never stopped loving each other and both want to use the 3 day trip to clear out any misunderstandings. At times Layla comes off as immature but she is 6 years younger than Brian so she doesn't have the life experience that Brian has. I liked that she didn't wallow in her self-pity and they both owned up to their mistakes. I absolutely loved their story and I didn't want it to end. Rating: A
Chris McGranitt - per RFS . On Desire di Sylvia Day
Leggetelo, ne resterete pienamente soddisfatte… in tutti i sensi.
Vi sfido a farlo.
I really wish I could give this antho a better rating, but I just can't. All three stories were predictable, and two were very similar. Out of the three, Sylvia Day's was the best, IMO. I've never read Ms. Day's work before, though I've wanted to, and I will definitely try another of her books. I'm sure this antho will sell well, but as a fan of Maya Banks, particularly, I was disappointed. Just my opinion - others will probably love the stories.
As a whole this book was great. The best story by far was Banks. It was well written and felt like a complete story. I loved the story and how Rick and Truitt won the heart and body of Jessie. I have to admit that I don't care for Karin Tabke's writing. I've tried more then once to read books by her but can't get into them. Day's story was enjoyable too. I liked the characters and how there story panned out.
STEAMY....beware. Maya Banks begins- It seemed very textbook erotic, not like her other reads; give the novella 2*. Karin Tabke’s Wanted-silly. But still hot. 3* Taking the Heat by Sylvia Day-Wicked and fun. Then Let me say it’s the first Sylvia Day I actually liked. You have to love happy endings.
Men Out of Uniform has three stories by Maya Banks, Sylvia Day and Karin Tabke. This is a must read book. It was very good. I love Maya Banks & Sylvia Day books. This is the first one of Karin Tabke I had ever read and was impressed. If you like hot guys in uniform you will love this book. It's full of sex and suspense.
pretty good. the only reason I don't give it really good is b/c I got tired of the damsel-in-danger, chronically mind-blowing sex things. Accidentally left it on the table where my teenage son does homework. At least he'll learn something about consensual sex between consenting adults and condom use.
Great hot summer evening read! Not always a fan of short stories, but sometimes they are fun when it's a busy time and I don't want to wade through a lot of back story. I didn't really have a favorite...they were all good. Break them out when your attention span is short;)
Good trilogy of stories. Maya Banks- nice menage- 4 stars Karin Tabke - former lover story I liked least - 3 stars Sylvia Day - best of all the stories - 5 stars
Favorite Quote: Hell, she had no idea what she was going to do with all this cock but she was sure as hell going to have a good time figuring it out.
Rick and Truitt have been partners in the police force for a long time. They are currently deeply involved in a serial killer case. Someone has been kidnapping women, only to let them go and then hunt them in the woods. Needing to let some stress out, they have decided tonight is the night they are going to take home the bartender Jessie Callahan…together. They have flirted with her for a few weeks, and she has always batted away their advances, but tonight they want action.
Jessie is having a rough night. Being wrongly accused of stealing money from the cash register and being fired, she is feeling a little crazy..and decides tonight is the night she will act on her attraction to Rick and Truitt. From here, the story unfolds with sexy times between Jessie, Rick and Truitt, and the hunt for the serial killer.
This kind of felt like the standard m/f/m erotic story. Especially when we start with this description:
**** She wasn’t a virgin, but she was woefully behind in the sex education department, and somehow she knew they were so far out of her league that she hadn’t a prayer of satisfying either.
They were bad boys and she was a wholesome, sweet good girl, and if that wasn’t enough to disgust her, she didn’t know what was. ****
Rick and Truitt want to take care of her, and want to protect and hover over her. And of course, Rick and Truitt usually date separate women, but now they are both attracted to the same woman and refuse to give her up. So they enter into this very erotic threesome. The sex was okay but again it felt like I’ve read this same story before. After one or two nights together they all just feel like they are in love and ready for this very non-traditional romance.
There is a nice balance between the suspense and sex in this one and I enjoyed reading the epilogue which takes place 6 months into the future. But the sex and instant love we get didn’t really do it for me.

Wanted by Karin Tabke
Favorite Quote: Colin raced down the stairs to get dressed. The captain called after him. “Did you put a GPS in her with your dick? Otherwise, only pure luck will help you find her.”
Undercover cop Colin Daniel loves sex and women. Working for FIST, or the Federal Investigative Strike Team, he works on a task force that goes after the crime families in the big cities. Because of his job, he doesn’t do commitment – but that is fine by him. His current assignment is to fly out to California and find Sophia Gilletti. She has run from her mafia husband after suffering extensive abuse. FIST wants her brought in to testify against him, and in return will give her protective custody. But first they need to find her and bring her back to New York. Colin must go in very quietly as to not alert the other mafia members that are also hunting her. Her soon to be ex husband is a very dangerous man and will do everything to get Sophia back in his grip.
I really enjoyed this story. Colin is so cocky in his job – and okay, he is totally cocky when it comes to women too – but it really works well in this story. He also comes across as humorous and warm. He actually went to high school with Sophia, and they spent a passionate night together where Sophia lost her virginity. But then he moved onto his career, and Sophia was basically sold into the mob, and they lost touch. They both think the other one doesn’t remember who they are for a lot of the story . But that burning passion is still between them.
Sophia is a tough cookie – and is a nice match for Colin. This story is a little lighter on the sex scenes, but works because Colin probably shouldn’t be sleeping with the woman assigned to him on a case. Plus she has gone through so much with her husband, that she isn’t in the best place. Even though this is a short story, their romance develops nicely.
My favorite part are the fun car chases, and crazy gun battles. Plus there is humor. When I read the very last page at first I wanted to roll my eyes, but then I just started laughing. There is a corny moment, but is cute and works in the story. This is the first I’ve read of Karin Tabke but I’ll be looking for more from her.

Taking the Heat by Sylvia Day
Favorite Quote: “Ignore that,” he said.
Instead, she rolled her hips, stroking herself with the hard length of his cock. With her lips to his skin, she whispered, “It’s too big to ignore.”
US Marshall Brian Simmons was in love with his best friend’s sister. But his job is demanding and he craves the adrenaline that comes with it, so their relationship didn’t last. Now five years later, he is fighting for her life.
Layla Creed got accidentally involved with the Mexican cartel, and ended up in the Witness Protection Program. Now her cover is blown, and her life is in danger. Brian needs to get her to San Diego, but he doesn’t trust anyone. So he goes rogue, risking his career, but having a second chance with Layla.
This story has a little less suspense in it, and it is more heavily focused on the sex. But I think the sex scenes in this one are my favorite. Brian and Layla have had a past relationship, so falling back in love is easy for them to do. They think they only have three days together, until Layla will be placed back into the Witness Protection Program, so their romance is intense and heavy. They are on the run throughout the book, but the bad guys don’t come into play as much as the previous two stories. But that was okay with me because I really liked these two in bed. Or in the shower. Or up against the wall.
The ending felt rushed – I’m not sure why they always have to end with a marriage proposal rather than just in love, but otherwise this is a very hot read.
Rating: B
Overall, while disappointed in the first story, the last two are quite strong. This is a fun book to just escape in for awhile with some crazy suspense scenes and steamy hot romance.
There are three stories in this book. All of them are implausible. :-) Still, there is fun to be had here.
The first story features a waitress who ends up with two cops madly in love with her and they form a polyamorous relationship basically on the spot and everyone is open and communicative and they guys totally want to take care of her while still giving her space to be a badass woman. There’s graphic sex, but you knew that already.
There’s also a minor serial killer backstory to just have something for the cops to do (besides sex) and even it makes the female lead look more badass.
It was heartwarming how the three main characters figure out their situation.
Stories two and three were also ok and both of those involve a missed relationship fixing itself years later.

Maya Banks's Soul Possession: Jessie Callahan, Rick Broughman, Truitt Cavanaugh--these two detectives manage to convince a lovely waitress to give them a chance. Throw in a murder charge, a serial killer, and she's got a full plate. I liked that she wasn't a shrinking violet despite some rough life circumstances, and interesting twist on the criminal.
Karin Tabke's Wanted: Colin Daniels, Maria Sophia Castavettes--bad boy cop, soon to be ex-wife of a mob boss. A bit of a second-chance story.
Sylvia Day's Taking the Heat: Layla Creed, Brian Simmons--she's about to enter WITSEC, he's a federal marshal... they have three days to reconnect before life as they know it changes forever.
I never read any of these authors and maya banks had an ok story. But the other two were lacking in surprises and I guess the “villain” in last story before I got to the end. The second story was just fake. It made me think of the people who get married in a moment then hate the rest of the their lives because the sex wasn’t love. Surprise surprise.
3.75⭐️. 3.5/4🌶️. 18+ mature audiences only. Anthologies. 3 separate stories each by a different author. Although the 2nd & 3rd stories were 1/2 the length of the first, I liked the 2nd & 3rd stories best. To me the 2nd & 3rd stories had better emotional character develoment and spicy scenes connection. The first story was intriguing with a MFM storyline, but I felt like the storyline was surface-layer in regard to the depth of emotional feelings.
Although, the novellas featured in this anthology were good and entertaining, I just cannot give it more than 3 stars. I think the stories were hampered due to the fact that they were short novellas. In my opinion they could have been better if they were longer especially Taking the Heat by Maya Banks.
All three authors created fantastic stories of intense suspense. The "erotic surrender" is mutual to all three heroines. I had a hard time putting this down.
Taking the Heat by Sylvia Day - 5 He's a U.S. Marshal, she's his ex and in the WITSEC program after seeing a murder. He has 72 hours before she disappears back into the WITSEC program. Hot, sexy, full of love.

The story I cared the least for was "Wanted" by Karin Tabke. Something about her writing didn't match well with me. The stories by Maya Banks and Sylvia Day were good, even if they were predictable.
These were three separate books, but in a way it felt I read the same book three times. They were a lot a like, just a few things different, but who doesn't like a man in uniform... or out.
