Huh?! Who’s dating whom now? I said I’d think about it. And how exactly does he go from “I’ll come watch your games” to “I’ll be your girlfriend”? Stupid jerk even told the entire basketball team that he’s going out with a third-year. Between those rumors and running into Hakamada-kun—and therefore having to deal with pouty Naruse— everything’s driving me up the wall! Why am I even considering this whole thing...?
Again, note for dubious and nonconsensual vibes - Naruse is pushy and doesn't want to take no for an answer.
But I loved so many little scenes in this one - their relationship is still quite uncertain but Naruse keeps trying for Yuki and Yuki keeps slowly giving in.
It's true that Yuki loves Naruse (not in public sadly) but I think it's time for her to made her mind up and convince to him publicly. I know he said he'll wait even until she leaves the Basketball team, but I think it's really hard for him to keep his feelings trapped for so long time (Not like I'm loving someone or had the same experience before) it's just a hunch.
you know, i kinda hate that black and white mangas make you think a certain character has x hair color but then you see the ilustración in the cover and it does not make sense at all.
Naruse, I was conviced you had blonde hair. WHY WOULD THEY GO WHITE IF YOU HAVE A SIMILAR COLOR THAT YUKI, who has black?
MAKES NO SENSE. Headcannon: Yuki has brownish hair, Naruse has white as any anime male lead kinda does.
Sooo. I just realized that my review for the third volume I typed in "Hamakada" when it's really "Hakamada". HAHAHA. I SWEAR I'M NOT DYSLEXIC.
FINALLY THEY WINNNNN. Of course. It's the last game. Of course they won. HAHA. I'd probably still type the same thing even if they lost, tbh. HAHAHAHA. And then they lost in the next round. Whelp. OMGGG> AWWWWW. NAruse is totally crying at the end. He's so adorable, mang. Just kidding. he's not crying. HAHA.

Super serious Yuki manages her high-school basketball club and she is pursued by Naruse, a year younger superstar on the team. Lots of drama but also, super cute.

I binged the first 4 volumes online, so the different volumes blend together hence why I am computer and pasting my lump sum review. Overall, the manga is decent. For reason this is very nostalgic feeling for me. I don’t know if it is the art, the main character/love interest, or the plot. Idk. I am getting like 2005-2008 vibes. Kaichou wa maid-sama as well. Currently I am seeing 18 or so volumes on goodreads and personally I find that hella long? I read the first 4 and I keep thinking how is this 18 volumes? But that could be because I don’t like the agonizing long period it takes people to get together in some manga that seem to be popular. Either way, I do recommend to give it a try. 3/5, maybe closer to 3.5/5.
4.7/5 I’m such a sucker for typical romance like this but definitely gets a little frustrating like girl yk your feelings just say it you nearly did so many times and it’s not like he’s not gonna feel the same way he’s said and tried multiple times just admit your feelings and date already stop being a washing machine all wishy washy and tell him stop letting guys all the sudden get in the way and for what them to be like “oh idk ab naruse” But also at the same time why do they expect me to wait till Next year for the next volume like I’m very tempted to read it online cuz I’m that impatient but if I do then will I really buy the volume when it comes out since I already know what happens (but I could save money but who ever said I was good at that *hint: no one*)

Cheeky Brat is a thoroughly enjoyable young romance. Yuki is the high school basketball team manager, a very stoic and dedicated individual who is always professional in her job and in her personal life. Stumbling upon her when she's showing an unusual bit of emotion, Haruse, the team's cheeky playboy, is intrigued with Yuki and pursues her romantically. Their romance continues to be about opposites that attract. Her dedication to avoiding romance is infuriating, but it doesn't make it any less enjoyable to read. I see many comparisons to Maid Sama, but My Little Monster also comes to mind. I enjoyed the story, and especially the likeably awkward third point on the love triangle. Additionally, the illustrations, especially those of the basketball players, are excellent.
In volume 4, Naruse tells the basketball team that he's into a third-year student, causing the guys to wonder who it could be. Yuki is horribly embarrassed by the prospect. What if they think he's into her!? And she hasn't answered his confession yet, either...
I really like the art style of this mangaka. Everyone is so striking! And while Naruse's personality is a little on the pushy side, at least he's honest about what he wants--Yuki is still floundering. Fingers crossed that their relationship takes the next step... soon!
The basketball team finally won against Misuzu! Naruse announces that he's dating someone and now everyone wants to know who. Meanwhile, Yuki is internally screaming, "This brat!!!!!!!"
The highlight of this volume is Yuki falling on the mannequin while spying on Naruse's conversation. Absolutely hilarious.
Yuki almost confessed, but got interrupted by freaking Shizuka.
Lastly, the team goes to basketball camp where Yuki loudly and publicly announces that "Naruse is like a brother to me." It's the most hilarious thing ever.
This volume focus more on the relationship development between Yuki & Naruse. Not to forget, the second ML really spice things up and make Naruse’s possessiveness increase more. Also can’t wait to see what will happen on the team’s trip 4 days 3 night.
Jealousy is a normal thing to feel. But it’s what YOU DO AFTER THAT MATTERS. Naruse’s shitty attitude when he’s jealous is ANNOYING. I understand being a moody teenager but damn, I got second hand embarrassment when he gave Yuki a hickey to “claim” her. *cringe*
when she went to comfort him after the game and told him that she'll always be there to watch him🥺💖 when he knew she was sick and gave her a forehead kiss <3 "you're the most special boy in my heart"
This was a pretty good volume. We get some good moments with Naruse and Yuki while still stretching out the inevitable. We end the volume with the start of training camp and it seems like things are going to be wild and chaotic.
I mean, how much longer can the story drag? I don’t know whether it’s about sports or romance but none of it is getting anywhere and it’s the 4th volume… don’t think I will go ahead with the other tomes.
