Besides my own interests, I read whatever my wife tells me to read-- she's a voracious reader and has wide-ranging tastes as my reviews show (she also always has the TV remote and she's always right about what to watch). I read a lot of nonfiction, mostly for research. Some of my favorite books are Lonesome Dove, Mystic River, LOTR, and an array of science fiction classics including the Foundation series. Our house is covered with books, although I finally broke down and started reading eBooks, strangely enough on my iPhone. Since I carry it pretty much everywhere, it means I always have an entire library of books with me.

I'm a West Point graduate, former Green Beret and a New York Times Bestselling Author. I've sold over five million books. My newest series begins with New York Minute, a thriller set in New York City in 1977.

I love using history and science in my books. My Area 51 series pretty much had me rewriting our entire history of civilization.

What a great series. 4 stars for this book and the entire series. If you like sci-fi action and lots of history, then this series is for you. I started reading this series back in 2013, and spaced myself out with a book a year. In the meantime I read several other Bob Mayer thrillers, like the first 3 in the Area 51 series and several of the Green Beret stories. I have about 32 of Mayer's books in my Kindle and plan to start on The Sphinx next.

Enjoyed the ending, especially with Lincoln and his wife Mary, but could have used some closure with Dane and a few other characters.

A cool book I stumbled upon in a used book store. It incorperates history and sci-fi in a quick read. The book starts fast but ends a bit hokie. For me, the best parts of the book were the inclusions of the Civil War. If nothing else, this book has inspired me to read more about the war, fiction and non-fiction, in the future.

After reading all six Atlantis books this is another Bob Mayer series that I loved. The Atlantis series is similar in style and approach as the Area 51 series where the author blends history with fiction seamlessly. The story line is great fun with the unknowns being slowly revealed over the course of the series into a conclusion that wraps up the series.

194 page history lesson not a great end

It feels like a combined physics and history lesson not an end to a series. If parsed down to what is relevant to the series, 20 pages would have sufficed. Disappointing.

The review I provided for the previous book in this series applies here. The 6 books should have been combined into one or two at most and all of the repetitive stuff eliminated.

Battle For Atlantis By Bob Mayer, is the final book in his Atlantis series, and it is just as good as his other entries.

The alien entity known as The Shadow attack on Earth has only been temporarily stopped. Now Ex-Special forces soldier Eric Dane and his specialized team must travel through space and time with the help of allies from different parallel Earth’s. This time they want to bring the battle to the Shadow on the Shadow's own earth timeline in the hopes of finally destroying them.

This final entry to Mayer’s Atlantis Series proves that yet again Bob Meyer's tremendous writing skills, his expertise in creating suspense, and his careful historic research. All this combined results in another great book in the series. The best plot is the 1860s President Lincoln American Civil War Earth alternate timeline plot. It is really convincing and exciting. But I think the present day plot is just a little bit slow this time and cannot catch up with the various stories of the alternate Earth timelines.

This book deals with Atlantis and its mystery which is a theme throughout the series. We are introduced to President Lincoln from and alternative timeline during the American Civil War. We meet Colonel Chamberlain of the elite First Earth Battalion from future post apocalyptic Earth wrecked by the Shadow. A player who goes through all the novels is Eric Dane who fights the Shadow. He reports to Mr. Forman who is a mysterious CIA agent. We meet them in an earlier books. The book twists and weaves around the Multiverse and alternative timelines and each book brings the reader closer to finding out what and who are the Shadows. The science is real and the reader will be surprised how concepts and ancient artifacts have been woven into the storyline.

As improbable as all these plots sound, the author makes it work. Mayer continues to show his particular talent for mixing historic fact with fiction—in this case science fiction. A multi-genre writer, all of Mayer's works are rooted in history, the kind of writing that sends readers like myself back to the history books to read more about the events he describes. His description of the battles of American Civil war though fictionalized, provides a realistic view of life and tactics used in the American American Civil War.

Somehow this author takes all of these time-lines and manages to converge them together in a highly engrossing conclusion Surprisingly, even with all the times, the book is easy to follow and makes one interested in the actual history of these times. Although a bit far fetched Sci-fi (what Sci-fi isn't?), it still manages to hold my interest six books into the series.

Battle for Atlantis was very well written with a fast paced interesting storyline. The author had numerous characters in various historical and alternative timelines going in severl story lines that merged at the end of the book. The characterization is really quite good for a science fiction action novel. The main character--Dane--is immensely likeable, and he's surrounded by other interesting characters. The parallel story line between the distant past and present made the book even more fascinating to me. There's also plenty of scientific fact and theory interspersed for plausibility.

Overall, Mayer is a wonderful storyteller that has a knack for combining many elements like Sci-fi, both historical fiction and non fiction, myth and legend, and turning them into fascinating reads. With that said, I'm glad the series is over. In my humble, non important opinion, I do think that the series could have been shortened. I realize that each book is supposed to be able to be read as a stand alone, but the constant reference to events in other books took up a lengthy section in the last few books. Also while I did overall enjoy the series, it could have been wrapped up a bit sooner. Lastly, the ending was a bit of a let down. Wrapped up in just a couple short chapters, and well, almost open ended. Still a good book and interesting series.

A koniec autor asi zabudol napísať.

I absolutely loved this entire series! I was glued in from the first to last book. I loved how the chapters switched to different times and situations creating so many exciting cliffhangers. I wish the book went into more detail at the end with some happily ever after details LOL
Great series, highly recommend!

Hate to see the series end, but it seemed a good ending at 3:30 am when I finally put it down. Every book was interesting and engrossing. Character development was certainly "lite", but the plot was a lot of fun.

Finally finished this series. While mostly a fitting end, the end scene seemed too rushed and easy. The Shadow explanations seemed too convenient. This could have been a great series if the reveal and end was split over atleast 2, maybe 3 books.

Also, much needed, an epilogue with Foreman.

Great series!

What a ride! Exciting to the end! No doubt, Mayer is a talented author who weaves facts with fictional characters in a most entertaining way!

Alrighty, then. I read the entire series (thanks, Kindle Unlimited!) and to be honest, I read it in one day. This is the kind of thing that makes Ripping Yarns look like documentaries. Eric Dane first encounters the Shadow and the Ones Before during a special ops mission in Cambodia, 1968. The war between the two groups has been going on for eons, and before the six books are done all kinds of people will be involved from Robert E. Lee to Amelia Earhart, who winds up leading medieval samurai into battle alongside the ship's medical officer from the Cyclops, lost in the Bermuda Triangle in 1918. Other cameos are from the USS Scorpion, Robert Frost(no kidding) and a raft of others who whip in and out of the adventure saga is a sort of para-Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure way. All of the Asian women are hot and deadly (except for the Japanese scientist, she just comes across as deadly). The really cool people are actual descendants of ancient Atlanteans, with the very coolest getting to have their bodies become crystal when they use them to save the planet from whatever each entry in the series has as the McGuffin. Well, sort of save them. There are a few tsunamis that take out places like Puerto Rico, and Iceland actually kind of blows up. Bummer. But it's that kind of nutty space opera writing that keeps the pages turning. Nothing ever really makes any sense --- although Donegan certainly seems to think it does --- but you will get an alternative to the Indiana Jones explanation of crystal skulls. And no Shia LeBouef, so there's that to recommend it.

Nutty. But reasonably entertaining, if you can get past the queasy violence. People get eaten, vivisected, blown up, speared by krakens, immolated by nuclear explosions, the fun never ends. If you haven't actually connected to a single damn character after six books, well, you haven't. It's not Anna Karenina with Atlanteans.

Well after so many "episodes" in book length there is a lot of repetitions of things already said in previous books of the series but justifiable , I would guess if someone is not reading all the books in sequence. I enjoy the technical/science and historical descriptions but feel it was too obviously a clever way to lengthen every book in the series and trap the reader in buying more books to get to the finale. For that reason I give 3 stars.

The last two books deal with how to defeat the threat being made. These books have two or even three stories going at once and are a bit confusing at times. I think the biggest issues is that sometimes the concurrent stories are given to much precedence in comparison with the main story. There is great detail given to some aspect of these stories that could be better used progressing the main story line.

I found the ending to the entire conflict to be a little short. It's pretty clear what happens to most of the main characters but nothing is really mentioned about the conflict as a whole other than it is finished.

The series as a whole is quite interesting though. There wasn't as much in respect to Atlantis as I figured there would be when I started the series but it still works. If you like a story that takes place over different times, deals with places like the Bermuda Triangle and the Nazca Lines, and maybe even takes you to other worlds then this is a series that would probably interest you.

In the final book, Battle for Atlantis, Eric Dane must travel through space and time with the help of Amelia Earhart and Ahana. This time they want to bring the Battle to the Shadow on the Shadow's own earth timeline in the hopes of finally destroying them.

Outstanding

Actually I just finished all the books in this series. Excellent writing and storyline. While at times it did get a bit technical and hard to read,, stay with it as it is definitely worth it in the end. Excellent read for sure but start with the first book and read them in order. Enjoy

The series was a good read overall. It took a long time to get to the end and then it was all over in just a few pages... I think a bit more, prolonged, excitement would have been the way to finish it!

With such a mind-bending concept, words fail to describe it--literally. this would make a better movie than a book. I too enjoyed the Civil War segments the most.

A mediocre payoff for having waded through six novels filled with repetitive themes and details.

The editing for the ebook versions of all six was horrid, to boot.

Atlantis Series

The whole series was great. From beginning to end. There was action and believable science. Truly worth the time reading.

Chicken or egg? Multiverse or Atlantis?

A great ending for this section of the multiverse in the "Ones Before Multverse/World". Although this book is a sequel, it actually is standalone what with all the repetitions of the exact dialogues in the previous books. There were also typos and name mixed ups but can be considered clerical errors.

So, chicken or egg? No matter which school of thought we look at it, be it religious, logical, creation, evolution, and/or science, the answer is chicken came first. In the same way that the multiverse came first not Atlantis. In other words, there were already timelines. I believe this will be revealed in Book 10 of the Time Patrol series, which is in a different section of the multiverse.
