Elysian Gods #2

Of Truths & Bonds

Rate this book
“You’re a scientist, Quentin. One microlitre. One milligram. One decimal point. The smallest fraction can change the course of your work and endanger lives, no?” Grayson thought he could break his host – the non-believer with an iron will – until he discovered they were soulbound. By saving her life, he’s hung a death sentence over her head. All the careful plans he laid out must be pushed aside in order to convince the council that her existence is valuable. But the God of Chaos isn’t known for his congeniality. Quentin never trusted the Gods, and they have proven her right. Half of them lied to her about what she truly was, and the other half want her dead because of it. Time is running out before the council reconvene, and she has a lot to learn. For once, the books won’t help her, and she must rely on the Gods more than ever. As Quentin learns to control her powers and accept her heritage, a series of truths come to light and leave her questioning everyone around her. Elysian politics are far more complicated than she imagined, and she’s landed in the centre of it all. There are no safe bets in the heavens. Everyone looks out for themselves. The Gods aren’t what they seem, but they know how to put on a show. Can you survive? *This book contains sexually explicit scenes, mature language, discussion of deceased parents and sexual assault. Not intended for readers below 18. Reader discretion is advised.*

HELLO? Yes, Miss @zavijames we need to have a chat! HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME! WHYYYYY! MA’AM WHY?!? 😩

If you haven’t read the first book, Of Gods & Monsters, then i highly suggest you do because if the first one was good this second one was mind blowing! 🤌🏼

First off thank you @zavijames & @wildfiremarketingsolutions for sending this ARC!🫶🏼

Secondly, OHHHH MY GAWDDDDD THIS BOOK WAS WILD! I felt so many emotions throughout that i got whiplash! I’m almost mad at myself with how fast i finished this! 😩

I giggled, i screamed, i cried, i melted, i swooned, i all the emotions in the book. Grayson and Quentin are back in this power packed, chocke holding, edge of your seat, panty dropping, sob worthy masterpiece. AGH! It literally picks up right where it was left off in the first book. My spidey senses where already tingling by chapter three! I knew this was gonna throw me for a loop, and holy hell, did it ever!

We see Quentin and Grayson coming and growing both as a couple and as partners. We see Quentin accepting her new role both as a person and as, well, you’ll see. We see Gray softening and becoming a better person and partner for both Quentin and those around him. As much as this book has so much power play it’s also a book of acceptance and redemption, but don’t get too comfortable, because once you get comfortable, BAM, you’re hit with a cliffhanger.

Of Truths & Bonds releases September 27! Do not miss out on this deliciousness of a series!

ARC review….. wow this book was a roller coaster, Gray was my all-time favorite character. You saw so much growth, you saw how he displays his love for Quen, you saw how vulnerable he gets talking about her and where he sees them and I just love it so much. I am in shock and awe with how it ended and I can’t wait for the next book!!!!

ARC REVIEW: Of Truths and Bonds

Elysian Gods Book 2

Of Truths and Bonds starts off with all the intensity we would expect from our much loved God of chaos and destruction.

Tension and stakes are high as we follow Quentin’s journey of navigating new enemies, old friends, and her own heart.

During this journey we get a closer look at the landscape of Elysia. Zavi masterfully paints each character with strokes of love, loss, and trauma that are woven into our own realities while ensuring they maintain unique voices that resonate throughout the story.

This book addresses many serious topics while also giving us a story rich with secrets, revenge, betrayal, love, and expertly crafted spice.

There is a scene where Erik (who in my opinion is the most emotionally sound character) is sobbing and let me just say, I identified with him a lot by the time I finished this book.

Zavi, I can’t wait for you to break my heart again.

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
SPICE: 🔥🔥🔥.5

I think Zavi James has broken me..at least for a while after reading this book.

If you have not read Of Gods and Monsters and love books about gods and love, I highly suggest starting with that and jumping right in with this read.

The second book in the Elysian Gods series picks up after the events of the first book. Without spoiling too much of the first, Quentin and Grayson have been separated by the other gods after finding out a key secret about Quen. Now they must figure out a plan to find their way back to each other and keep themselves safe.

But the politics of the Gods are far more complex and dangerous than that of mortals. And Zavi James captivates our attention from the first page all the way to "The End" with mystery, magic, and romance. The chemistry that had us falling in love with Quen and Gray still holds strong in the second book. I enjoy their banter most especially.

There is a lot going on in this book, but James does a great job of not overwhelming readers by having enough details to keep things moving. I always felt like I was sucked into the book for ages after reading each book in this series, but I enjoy every minute of it. You get invested in the characters, especially Quentin and Grayson, and you go through their every emotion. Even the godly antagonists convey some humane characteristics that make you understand what drives them.

This is not the end of their story, so you will get a whooper of a cliffhanger. I may or may not have screamed like a banshee before starting the countdown to the next book.

** I am voluntarily reviewing an advance copy of this book. Thank you to Zavi James and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for providing an ARC. **

ARC kindly provided in exchange fo an honest review

Zavi James quickly became one of my favorite authors! and it's that with each story she manages to surprise & captivate me more and more, and the best of all, the plot of Elysian Gods is more and more interesting: Quentin & Grayson have an even more complicated path in Of Tuths & Bonds, many truths & conspiracies to discover, unexpected allies & new enemies that together with the secondary characters, that I already loved, add an amazing touch to the story, plus, Zavi blew me away with that ending and I NEED to know what's going to happen to these characters.

Something that I didn't expect and that I LOVED reading about was a different Grayson, willing to do everything to take care of Quentin, to show what he feels, to give her space when she needs it and with a tender and sweet side that made me love him much more, and all this without ceasing to be that lethal, reckless and belligerent God that I liked so much in Of Gods & Monsters. I also really liked that in this book Zavi let me know more about him, his past, his childhood, his relationship with his family, specifically with Hunter, and the notable differences what's in it for Gray in his bond with his two brothers. Another thing that surprised me but became one of my favorite things about this character was learning his ambitions in Elysia and the history he shares with Asher.

I have to say that Quentin was my favorite in the previous book and with the second part of this series I couldn't help but love her MUCH MORE! I loved the strength & courage with which she faces all the complicated situations that come her way, the internal conflict she experiences when she finds herself torn between the possibility of a life in Elysia and her desire to return to Earth to be with his brother, and the vulnerability she allows herself to show when she's with Grayson and is able to accept him as he is, plus I really liked that, even with everything that's going on in her life, she continue to be that scientist who loves, and is obsessed with, her work.

And although I can't say much about the plot because of the amount of things that happen in it, I can say that I loved every plot twist that Zavi prepared!, I liked it to know the stories of more secondary characters: my heart broke for Archer & Larkin, but while she is becoming one of my favorite characters I can't help but hate him a little. I'm also dying to know more about the love story between Erik & Sloan, to read more about the beautiful bond that began to form between Ignacio & Quen and especially to see Hunter get what he deserve!

2.25*

I rated Of Gods and Monsters (book #1) 3 stars. I’ll admit that it wasn’t my favorite book of the year, but I still liked and enjoyed the story. I was even looking forward to reading Of Truths and Bonds (book #2) to find out what was going to happen.

And yet, when I opened the pages of this novel, there was something lost between one book and the next. The writing felt lackluster and the shine of the story had rubbed off. I couldn’t summon a lot of excitement to keep reading and the care I had developed for the characters waned. This book was okay; it was fine and passable and all of the other mediocre terms of blandness you can think of. What life and spark the prior novel had brought, faded into the background. It was sad to watch.

So, where did this book go wrong?

The writing style was choppy and the plot was unconvincing. While the author seemed to have us flit from one scene to the next without a lot of reasoning, explanation, or build, the plot was in the background rushing to hit its points and ‘twists.’ There was so much that didn’t make sense. For example, Quen is described in the previous book and multiple times throughout this novel as being someone who isolates herself, doesn’t tend to develop a lot of strong connections with others, and has a general sense of unapproachability surrounding her. It’s not said that she’s not nice, but in book 1, she admitted to being a little arrogant and had the personality where she didn’t need a lot of friends, just a few close ones. And yet, when she’s put into a situation where her plan is to get to know and win over both the gods that had voted to end her life as well as the minor gods (just to be seen, noticed, and to make it harder for the council to kill her quietly), she suddenly becomes a social butterfly that everyone loves. She makes friends (a lot of friends) – and she makes them quickly. She’s the most popular person around and without even trying, has the backing of individuals she’s barely said two words to. Was everything happening behind-the-scenes? How was she forming such deep connections and bonds with people? It not only felt a bit contradictory (because even if Quen had been able to flip a switch and suddenly become a personable, friendly, and charismatic person – it was something completely out of her comfort zone at the very least), but it also felt incredibly unrealistic and lacked believability.

Similarly, as a continuation of book #1, Archer’s obsession with Quen still baffles me. Maybe there’s more to the story that still needs to be explored and explained, but it’s still as weird by the end of this novel as it was by the end of the previous one.

I didn’t like how Quen reacted to Gray’s past either. Archer shows her one side of the story, but Quen refuses to hear/see Gray’s side for a really long time. While Gray was an idiot for not telling her, I didn’t like how this scientific-minded and analytical researcher refused to gather all of the facts before making her judgements.

Also, Quen drove me absolutely mental with her repeated term of endearment usage. I can be particular about nicknames or terms of endearment, I’ll admit, but the never-ending steam of “Bubba” over and over again made me want to throw up. I couldn’t get through reading a line without cringing, recoiling, and quite literally thinking “OMG gag me” every single time. It was such a distraction from the story and took me out of what was happening each time it was said.

I hated the fact that Cass’ wedding was so insignificant as well. For the brother that she loves and only family she has left (at least from the family that she grew up with), not to mention how much it’s mentioned throughout book #1, the barely-there scene not only made it feel like I was dropped into it from out of nowhere, but it was there and gone before I could even blink.

I didn’t like the ending of this novel either. At this time, there’s not an indication on Goodreads that this is more than a duology, so I didn’t know that this wasn’t the final book of the series when I started it. While that’s not a huge deal, I’m really upset with how the entire book played out. The council vote is hanging over Quen’s head throughout this entire book and by the end, we still have yet to have it. Not only that, but instead of having the vote, Hunter arranges to have Gray arrested (even though that should be part of the council’s decision too and it doesn’t even matter because Gray was just following HUNTER’S orders) and he’s planning on manipulating Quen into marrying him instead (because of her sudden and increased popularity with everyone – something that was questionable in and of itself). Not only does this all lack plausibility and realism, but it was so freaking aggravating to watch Quen and Gray completely ignore Hunter’s leading and highly suspicious questions or really stop to ponder what this controlling and manipulative jerk was scheming. It wasn’t prioritized when they knew it should have been. Their stupidity here isn’t winning the scene any brownie points.

While I think that some of this information definitely should’ve been in book 1, I am glad that we got just a teeny tiny smidge more world-building and answers to questions. They weren’t good answers, but they were answers. Nevertheless, the world-building still wasn’t very impressive and I wish the author would’ve taken the time to develop her world a bit more.

Even though the book ends on a cliff-hanger and I wouldn’t hate getting a cliff-notes rundown of what was going to happen next, the magic of this world and the story are gone. I don’t have any interest or drive to read the next book (or finish the series).

ARC REVIEW:

I want to start off by saying that I absolutely loved Of Gods & Monsters so I had pretty high expectations of this book.

Let’s talk about the writing.
I seem to have preferred the writing in the first book than the writing in this one. I felt that some situations were so incredibly rushed. There were a couple of characters that were brought up spontaneously and then disappeared until the last couple pages of the book. It just felt very choppy. There was a scene at the end in which a couple of minor Gods visit Quen to let her know the answer to the decision in regards to her life. They mention they see how much she’s tried to accept the fact she’s a goddess and she’s made an effort to spend time with the minor Gods. That’s great and all but did we see any of those scenes? Not really. The only scene we saw of her interacting with other Gods was when she went to The Vermillion Lady and even that scene was cut short. For 90% of the book she interacts with the same Gods as the first book which I was bummed out about. Also the scene in which Quen and Grey end up going to Cassidy’s wedding was briefly mentioned and then it was over in a blink. Would have loved to see Grey interact with Cass more.

Oh Quentin….
I’m not sure where to start with her. I tried to like her in this book. She was a little hard-headed in the first book but I managed to still like her in the end. However, in this book I wanted to physically slap her in the face. I was incredibly annoyed with her. She doesn’t say it in the beginning but we know she loves Grey. It’s obvious. But she let’s other’s opinions of him influence what she thinks about him and I hate it. For example, the scene in which Archer shows her what happened to Elara. She immediately thought the worst of Grey. She didn’t even bother to ask Grey his version of what happened until much later on. You would think that, being a woman in science, she would be smart enough to not come to a conclusion so quickly without looking at situations from all angles. But apparently, when the situation involves Grey, she thinks the worst at first glance.

Now that we got my main issues with this book out of the way, let’s talk about what I loved about this book.

I loved Grey in this book. He showed a little vulnerability. I loved that we saw inside his memories when he, Erik and Hunter were young boys. He puts on this facade to the outside world that he’s cold, distant, and nothing about what others perceive him to be bothers him but when you peel back those layers, you see a vulnerable God. When he said that he actually wanted to overthrow Hunter, my jaw was on the floor. I know a few people guessed that in the first book but I didn’t see that coming! I hate Hunter with a passion so I’m excited to see what happens in the 3rd book.

The ending? I loved it. We all know Hunter will stop at nothing to make sure he stays in power. But the fact he blamed Grey for the murders of the minor Gods, was genius. Grey was his perfect scapegoat. Everyone already assumes the worst of him so whey not add murder to his repitoire right? I just can’t wait to see how this plays out.

I really want to highlight the “friendship” between Larkin and Quen. I understood why Larkin was so against Quen and Grey. I mean, she has a cheating a**hole for a husband who knows no bounds. I’m glad Larkin also showed vulnerability with Quen and that Quen helped her in the end. At the end of the book, I liked that Larkin was a part of the group and tried to help decipher what Hunter & Archer were up to. I really hope they do end up bonding in the 3rd book.

I also want to give bonus points to Zavi for incorporating the LGBTQ+ community and POC characters in this book. I do hope that these characters are at the forefront in the next book.

With all that being said, I think this was an okay book. I still prefer the first book over this one. I also think the spicy scenes were just ok. Although I had a lot of issues with this book, I will still continue to read the 3rd book in this series!

*** Thank you to Zavi James for giving me an ARC. Although this was given to me in exchange for my review, all opinions and thoughts are my own.***

Ms.James, you have done it again and this time you gave us a book that intrigue and emotions. I fell in love with Quen and Gray in the first book but this one had them taking up space in my heart that will always be theirs. They have become a power couple and look out to whoever stands in their way.
Gray will never change and his possessiveness is more evident in this book. Quen is not one to falter at men's feet however there is something about Gray that has her, I want to say powerless but it is not as she is still in control of herself.

Fighting for her life, Quen must now convince the council that she is not a threat however that may not be an easy task. Training, fighting off advances from a God that cannot be trusted and falling even further in love with Gray is her life now. Leaning that the love she and Gray have is much more than just love, there is a connection that cannot be broken. Will this connection or bond help or hinder her? Gray and his brother Hunter have never seen eye to eye and when it comes to Quen Hunter does not care about the bond Gray and she has. Will she be able to keep her secret when back on earth? How will this special bond that has her tied to Gray affect everything that she does as well as all that happens to her?

Gray is forever changing in a positive way spending more time with Quen. He was determined to prove to her that Gods are needed and exist in her world but with his force, as he is the God of Chaos, however, he never expected to fall in love with her and have this special bond. In this book, we see a softer, caring side that is still very possessive and jealous of everyone that comes into contact with her. When part of his history comes out, how will both of them deal with the aftermath? Can he convince her that that was his past and there were reasons that he did what he did and can they get past it?

This book had me full of emotions, from laughing at the banter and button pushing that happened between them to heart-stopping scenes where you did not know what was going to happen as well as the twists and turns that had my head spinning and my stomach in knots. With this being book two, the cliffhanger was one that pushed me right over the edge.

"Quentin Scott, we will be together for eternity. I give you my word as a God."

okay first of all... huge thank you to Zavi & team for providing me with an ARC copy of this book! i've been counting down the days for this since finishing OGAM and i screamed getting an early copy! that being said, this review is entirely by own honest opinion.

my girl Quen really stepped up her game in this book. she's incredibly sassy and smart in OGAM but you really see her shine in this one. she's dealt with too many shit hands in her life and the poor girl needs a break, obviously no one gives her one. but despite that, she takes on her new challenges with grace and determination and it made me love her even more. i also love the view of a woman who is so independent and doesn't need a man, but the way she started to soften around Gray had me squealing.

Gray really pulls on your heart strings in book 2. i love that while he is opening up and showing his vulnerabilities and how big his heart truly is, Zavi still keeps his wild and chaotic nature in tow. i loved Gray from the beginning even when he was an asshole, but you really begin to understand him a lot more, get to see the man behind the God and the strife in his life. and his love for Quentin? unwavering.

OTAB really tackles a lot of dark situations and a lot of trauma, past and present, within the main characters but also the sides as well. Zavi has written these parts so, so beautifully that you just wanted to reach into the book and hug them all.

book 2 is full of passion and heat, family bonding, raw vulnerability and also aching sadness. i loved OGAM but it's getting better and better as the series goes on! the twists and turns were incredibly written, just when you think you've got them down... BAM, Zavi throws you completely off the mark in the most gripping way. the cliffhanger left me gob smacked and i am DYING for book 3!

**IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE FIRST BOOK IN THE ELYSIAN GODS SERIES KNOW THERE MAY BE SPOILERS AHEAD**

ARC Review

Zavi did it again, she broke my heart to pieces and I am still willing to come back for more lol. I am not sure who is worse, myself or Zavi. OT&B is an entirely different monster than OG&M. The second book in the series is very emotional and we dive deep into a lot of emotional baggage for Quen and Gray as well as a couple of side characters. While we don't get much from the side characters we know and love from the first book, it is still a phenomenal book.

Quen has to navigate so much in this book. Not only does she have to play the game when it comes to divine politics but she has to decide who to trust, as the wrong move could mean her demise. Being a demi-goddess has its perks but she is also enemy #1. While Quen has never run from a challenge this might be one she has to at the very least tread lightly. I loved seeing Quen be vulnerable. In the first book, she was such a badass and almost flawless. I felt so connected to her in this book. Even though she found her divinity she became more human and relatable to me.

Gray changed slightly in the book but he still remained Gray IYKYK. To see his own vulnerabilities was heartbreaking. While he may seem hardened and at times sullen and detached he, just like anyone else, craved love. This book really does take a deep dive into all the emotional baggage and trauma that both Quen and Gray have faced.

Zavi hit some very hard-hitting and touchy subjects but as always she did it with the utmost care and finesse. Please read the trigger warnings. In this book, you will find medium spice, divine political intrigue, big secret reveals, betrayal, and edge-of-your-seat drama. If you loved the first book you will love this book.

Of Truths & Bonds is the second book in the Elysian Gods trilogy by Zavi James. It picks up immediately after the events of Of Gods & Monsters, with Dr. Quentin Scott now imprisoned in Lower Elysia and separated from her lover Grayson, the God of Chaos and Destruction. Quentin has to use all the skills that make her a successful scientist to learn to quickly master her new abilities and demonstrate that she's in control, or the Council will vote to have her killed.

I've avoided any other plot points in the summary above because I think this series is so good, it should be experienced blind where possible! I loved this book just as much as the first book in the trilogy because there's the perfect mix of fantasy plot, romance and spice. It's just a fantastic series and I love the twists and turns in the story, and the complex relationship between the main characters. It's a fantasy world but they both have realistic responses to situations based on their personalities and their specialities as Gods. I gobbled up this book over two reading sessions in less than a day, and would have finished it on one big binge if I hadn't had to stop to sleep! There's just something about Zavi James' writing that instantly draws me in, and I love her characters and this world.

I am so excited for the third book - there's another strong cliffhanger at the end of this book, and I'm going to inhale the third book in the series as soon as it's released. I highly recommend this series for fans of spicy romantasy - the fantasy plot is just as strong as the connection between the main characters and it's completely binge-worthy! This is a series I know I'll reread repeatedly because it's just so good.

Note: At the time of writing, both Of Gods & Monsters and Of Truths & Bonds are available on Kindle Unlimited.

There were parts of this book I enjoyed, but other parts I struggled with.

Normally I love stepping into fantasy worlds, learning new creatures and what powers they have, but for some reason I struggled with the layers and the constant barrage of different characters I was introduced to.

Granted, I will take some of the blame, I jumped into book two, without having read the first book, but I tend to catch on to most things I read and with this particular book I...just...didn't.

So, let me focus on the parts I did enjoy...I loved the chemistry between Gray and Quen. When they were on and truly focused on each other, it was hot and blazing. The love they shared was intense and fated mates are truly magical. So...YES, give me more of that, I was all in.

I also loved the fluidity of the Gods and Goddesses when it came to love. As far as most mythology goes, when it comes to who they play with they tend to be gender neutral when it comes to their sexualtiy and I'm glad that Zavi kept with that theme. Especially with today's relationships and hopefully everyone opening a bit more to the concept of fluidity I certainly appreciated it.

Like most mythology, there is a lot of politics, especially with Quentin's life on the line, but we all know Gods love to play with fate and especially in human or even half-breed lives. Quen is no exception, as she has to prove why she should be allowed to live, even when she's mated to the God of Chaos.

So, like I said, there was a lot to like and most of what I personally struggled with, were truly my own issues. So if you enjoy mythology and fated mates, start with book one and enjoy Gray and Quen.

“My priority list comprises of two people. You and myself. You’re a smart enough woman to figure out the order.”

I cannot explain enough how much I love the style of writing from this author. I stumbled upon Of Gods & Monsters early this year, and could NOT get enough. So naturally, I became obsessed with this second installment of the Elysian Gods series.

Let’s get started because I have MUCH to say:

The way that Zavi writes her FMC is pure bliss. Quen has her own personality and is quirky. But where other authors fall short in portraying quirky by making the FMC seem childish or dumb, Zavi makes her FMC seem even more strong/resilient/powerful.

As a woman in science, it was nice to see a FMC who was also a woman of science. Science tends to be a male dominated field, and the women who find themselves excelling in this field tend to be assigned a reputation of sleeping their way to the top or coming off as incredibly bitchy who cut others down to build themselves up. Zavi, was able to show the true nature of women in science. Women who are strong and independent; women who worked their asses off to achieve goals, exceed expectation, and above all else: succeed in something they are undoubtedly passionate about.

In terms of her MMC, Grayson, she did an astounding job with giving us a new side of him. The problem I have with some of the bigger authors like Sarah J Maas is that when the broody MMC finds love, their tough exterior goes out the fucking window, they lose all sense of self, and now just become this imprinted duckling on their mate/partner/etc… Zavi, gave us a softer side to Gray without compromising all of the effort that went into building his personality from the start. He maintained his chaotic nature, but brought a whole new side of himself to the story. It was incredible, in my opinion.

The development of the side characters was done beautifully as well. I very much enjoyed meeting the new Gods and Goddesses.

I knew at one point that something terrible was going to happen. Zavi does a good job of leaving small crumbs of indication throughout the story. But, I legitimately thought that I had the twist figured out until I got to the end and was so so so so SO wrong. It was like a whole ass slap to the face with a Cellular Bio Chemistry textbook (those bitches are T H I CCCC). I hate loved it. I hate it because I was thrown into an emotional vortex, but I love it because it made me form an even stronger connection to the characters and the story. I am overwhelmed with excitement over this series. I truly cannot contain myself. Her portrayal of a tough topic like trauma, really helped solidify the enhanced connection for me as well. The topic was handled with care and truly resonated with me (as a person who suffers from generational trauma as well as other mentioned trauma).

This book was absolute perfection to me. There are things that didn’t speak to me, like the chosen pet names, but that’s completely a personal thing that I can identify because it’s linked to past trauma.

Overall, I don’t know if I can recommend this series or this book or this author enough. This series has become a top chart for me. Zavi has secured the #1 spot on my favorites list. I am generally new to fantasy in that I’ve been reading it for just over 2 years. But I definitely had SJM pegged at my #1 spot because I loved the ACOTAR series so much. But between Zavi James and her Elysian Gods series, and S.A. Chakraborty with her Daevabad Trilogy, SJM has been dethroned.

Zavi has honestly, made me fall in love with reading again and I don’t know if I can ever thank her enough for 1. Having the imagination that she has or 2. Having the courage to share it with the world. I am eternally grateful and appreciative.

I was so excited to be back with this group of characters. I was especially glad to be back with Quentin and Grayson. Those two were truly made for each other. The stakes were higher for Quentin and Grayson, but together they shined. Eric is still my fave character though. And I would also like to add James. He made me laugh out loud a few times. I’ll never see or hear the word “daddy” the same again. Actually, I think saying daddy grew on me because of him.
I will say, before Quentin and Grayson finally got their act together they annoyed the heck out of me. For as grown and logical as Quentin prides herself on she sure did act like a sullen teenager on more than one occasion. Half the time I don’t think she stopped to think about her actions a single time. But on the other hand we had Grayson who kept lying “by omission” when he knows damn well that won’t sit well with Quentin. I wanted to knock their heads together and hope that brought them some sense.
All was well by the end though. Actually, I wouldn’t say all was well because that ending was brutal! Brutal! I did NOT see that one coming and omg! Ugh, cliffhangers. I have a love/hate relationship with them. Needless to say I NEED the next book.

Arc Review:-

What should I even say... really? I mean Zavi gave us another banger with a bang to be honest. ELYSIAN GOD series was my favourite on wattpad and when I got to know that Zavi was publishing, I was so happy for her.

Now onto OTAB, it is the second book in ELYSIAN GOD series, a continuation of Quen and Gray's story. The dynamic they both have with each is so beautiful but chaotic at the same time and add a soulbound Bond between on top it. There are certain scenes in the story where you feel like you are actually present there in real life. I don't know any other to put it. Also, the way she says "bubba" is so cute that I wanted to squish her face so many times😭. The plot is truly amazing and it trapped in throughout the story. If you think you liked the first book, you are going to love this one.

I never wanted the book to end in real. But what you did in the last, Zavi😉 Like you really got me there. But honestly you guys, Zavi did a great job with this one as always. You won't be disappointed. I promise. So what that I hope you have ordered OTAB and before doing that make sure you are up to date with first book.

I enjoyed the first book of this series, and had high hopes for the second, but they fell flat.

*warning, some minor spoilers if you have not read the first book, yet*

Largely, I was hoping to find some clarification regarding the science experiment that forms a major crux of the plot in 'Of Truths & Bonds.' I didn't get it. I'm still not sure what exactly is being researched, why it's necessary, and how that's supposed to sway people to... believe in the gods?

Additionally, I appreciated Quentin's analytical perspective in the first book, but found her to be almost insufferable in the second. I can forgive her confusion and reluctance, but it kept dragging on. I wasn't seeing much of the character I enjoyed reading so much in the first book. Gray also flipped 180 degrees in his overall attitude and I couldn't buy it.

Finally, I'm not a big fan of the antagonist (and not in that 'they're so bad that I love/hate it kind of way), who seems to be vindictive for the sake of vindictiveness. I see where the series is going, but don't understand why. Unfortunately, I won't be continuing on this journey.

I have received this book as an ARC from the author and this review is 100 percent honest and 100 percent my opinion.

"of Truths and Bonds" is the second book in Elysian God's series. the first book ends on a cliffhanger and it sets up great expectation for the second book and it delivers.

Spice: 🌶🌶.5/5
Action: ⚔️⚔️⚔️/5

This book has;
✔️Funny AND strong FMC that doesn't feel like a child
✔️An UNCHANGED MMC when he's in love cause let's face it, most of the broody grumpy mmc's often lose their personality when they're in love
✔️LGBTQ+ representation (couple)
Forbidden love
✔️Dual pov

People who enjoy reading about;
🔮Greek gods and goddesses
🔮Demigods
🔮Greek mythology
🔮Modern setting
🔮Scientist fmc
🔮"WHERE IS SHE" energy mmc
will definetly enjoy this book

What I liked about this book;
📌An elite style of writing
📌The ending
📌A strong start to the story that kept me reading up until 4am
📌The emotional damage that made me feel disassociated for a while

The only thing I will comment on is that the pace of the book sometimes felt rushed and other times slow. But nonetheless I will definitely be waiting for the 3rd book!

If you liked Hades & Persephone books by Scarlett St. Clair or Asphodel Series by Molly Tullis then you will definitely enjoy this book!

Check trigger warnings before reading!

I really love this series so much, and I cannot get enough of it. Things are definitely picking up with Quen, as she's learning to control her powers, and honestly, things have never been so dangerous for her. She doesn't trust the Gods, but she may have no other choice if she wants to make it out alive since there are many who want her dead but she can't go at it alone. She & Gray are definitely growing closer as a couple & partners, but with all the political intrigue, yeah, that's not an easy road either. The twists are coming in hot, and I was on the edge of my seat then BAM! We're left with another huge cliffhanger ending that has me all kinds of crazy because seriously, the wait will be too long that's for sure. Of Truths & Bonds is the second book in the Elysian Gods, so you have to read Of Gods & Monsters (Book 1) first since it's a continuing storyline. And that's all from me so now it's your turn to experience all the goodness for yourselves as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

OKAY WOW! My mind has been totally blown away! I loved the first book but DAMN this one takes it to another level. This story was so freaking emotional, insanely intense and very titillating right to the very end. I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through, not wanting to ever stop reading it. It totally consumed me!

The imagery and world building alone was absolutely outstanding and brought the story to life.

Grayson and Quentin continue to keep me captivated, laughing at their back-and-forth banter and gushing with love over these two amazing characters. They continue to take us on an intense journey that is filled with secrets, revenge, betrayal, suspense, passion and love.

Another really well written rollercoaster ride that will have you laughing, screaming and crying and with your panties completely obliterated throughout. Then when we get to that freaking ending – DAMN – we are now left begging the author for the rest of the story.

I am selfish. I am vile. I am all those things you believe me to be and worse. But you are my priority now.

The plot thickens! This book…. The characters, the setting, I love it all.
The character development of Grayson is epic in this - I adore him with a fiery passion.
Quentin is still amazing - I would have loved to see more of her developing her powers and using it to grant success, although the training of her powers was really well done.
I loved that we got to see more Elysia and how the society works/ the other gods/goddesses that live there. We see how things have progressed and, without spoilers, it’s clear what needs to be done.

Chapter 35 and 36 😍😍. Just trust me!!

The spice, the world building it’s all
The ending. 😭😭. I need the next book now!!

Please read this book!! I read this as an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Saying I’m disappointed would be an understatement! The first book was sooo perfect, i loved every single page ! But this one… it took me a year to finish it ! I started it last year but couldn’t go through the first two chapters… i don’t know what happened!

In this book, everything felt forced in a way… and Quen being a demi goddess doesn’t help with her hot and cold moods towards Gray ! I love you and then i hate you… i trust you then i dont trust you ! So many times she could’ve just waited and listened to his side of the story but she wouldn’t… that just made it even harder for me to finish this book ! Make up your damn mind !

I don’t see any announcement on when the third book is coming out … I’m not particularly excited to read it but i wanna feel like i felt reading the first book … so we’ll see i guess.

This was an unexpected pleasure in as much as I don't often read pnr books. I have definitely found an exception here. Filled with big characters, dilemmas, huge egos, goodish and baddish gods and demi-gods and jeopardy. The latter particularly refers to Quentin. Her situation is awful, but, thank goodness, she is quick witted and has a tough streak! That does not, however, stop her from being vulnerable, particularly when it comes to Grayson.
I loved the slow development of Quentin and Grayson's relationship, wanted him to set the record straight, and for Hunter to stop being a total jerk. And it is unlikely that that's going to happen anytime soon!
With revelations galore, this book kept my attention and drew me into a fantastical world that I look forward to visiting again! 💖💖💖💖

Of Truth and Bonds is the 2nd book in the Elysian Gods series and it takes us on a wild ride. The story gave us revenge, betrayal, secrets, steam, romance and so much more. Grayson and Quentin had intense chemistry and I really loved the fated mates aspect to the story. I enjoyed seeing the evolution of their relationship and seeing them grow as a couple. I loved that we got to learn about the characters past history. The story was emotional with great banter and unexpected twists and turns. It touches on some difficult topics so sensitive readers check the TW. It all ends in a cliff hanger that will leave you anxious for the next book. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to fantasy lovers.

I already really liked the first book and this one didn´t disappoint me!

First of all I just really like teh style of wirting and she shared point of view. It is easy to get back into the story and I instantly felt sympathy for both again. They also develop a lot as individuals and as a couple which I loved especially because they don´t really change their character but rather start doing compromises and working together on their issues.

At one point or the other I would have liked some of the other characters to be less shallow and more action to happen. But especially with that cliffhanger at the end I will definitely wait for and read the next book!

OMFG!! This book picks up perfectly where the first book ended. We see new sides of every character and new relationships are made. Some of the side characters we met isn’t he first book become different people and I adore James!! Grayson is definitely daddy. We are seeing things shape together but don’t yet have all the answers we will hopefully be getting in the third book. The ending had me wanting to rip my heart out in sadness and anger! It was sooo good!! I absolutely love this series!!
