The Leader Who Rules Chaos Rules the Realms.... Two years ago Loki, god of mischief and chaos, destroyed a large chunk of Chicago's financial district and then vanished into thin air. He still has not been found. Odin, ruler of the Nine Realms, is desperate. To find Loki, he sends his son, Thor, on a dangerous quest to consult the all-seeing Norns. But Thor needs humanity's help.... Loki's former lover, veterinarian Amy Lewis, is carrying all of Loki's memories - but missing some of her own. Hoping to keep Loki from Odin's machinations, she agrees to help Thor on his journey. Bohdi Patel's memory was wiped by Loki's mischief. He thinks that Amy and Thor are both crazy to want anything to do with Loki. But he needs to find his parents, and he's been told that the Norns will answer any question - for a price. When chaos is the goal, only one thing is certain: Amy and Bohdi are about to get into worlds of mischief.

C. Gockel got her start writing fanfiction, and she is not ashamed! Much. She received emails, messages and reviews from her fans telling her she should 'do this professionally'. She didn't; because she is a coward and life as a digital designer, copywriter and coder is more dependable. But in the end, her husband's nagging wore her down: "You could be the next '50 Shades of Gray' and I could retire!" Unfortunately, the author isn't much for writing smut. She is sad about this; she'd love for her husband to be able to retire and just work for her so she could nag him.

At the moment, Ms. Gockel is working on the next installment of her Archangel Project series.

Bohdi Patel has discovered that he’s the incarnation of Chaos. To protect the ones he care about he tries to keep away. Amy Lewis wonders what has happened to the funny and flirtatious man she spent time with in the land of the Norns. But when their friend Steve is shot and paralyzed at the same time as Amy's dog Fenrir is seriously injured when hit by a car, she and Bodhi have to work together again in order to save them.

There's quite a lot going on in this book, and I have to admit that I don't understand all the science about stem cells and such. It's not necessary either, but it's a big part of the story and therefore a bit annoying. Otherwise I still enjoy to see Norse mythology incorporated into the real world, and that many of the characters are morally grey - they become more interesting that way. The book ends with a cliffhanger so I rather not wait too long until I continue listening!

Warriors is a 3-star book with 4-5 star potential.

There are two really important elements to a successful tease, the payoff and knowing when to deliver that payoff. The longer you delay, the bigger that payoff needs to be. Wait too long, and people will get fed up with the tease altogether. This series is dangerously close to that outcome.

Whether it's Bohdi not living up to the potential I feel is waiting for him, relationships that aren't developing and evolving, conflicts that are always building but never erupting; these last two books have felt like one long intake of breath and I'm more than ready to breathe out. There needs to be at least a little bit of reward for all this buildup to let off some steam.

It feels like we've been waiting for this war between Asgard and our world since the second book in this series. I've also been waiting for Bohdi and Amy to get together since Bohdi first showed up with no memories. Both of these things seem like foregone conclusions to me which puts the pointless waiting in the way of telling the rest of the story. Every scene that comes close to progressing these plot points only to be taken away by yet another coincidence is drawing me out of the narrative and reducing my patience with this series.

I don't know if the next book is the last in this series, but I assume so considering it's called Ragnarok. Either way, this pattern of writing books where a lot happens but not much changes needs to finish in the next book or that will be the last for me anyway.

It's a shame. If it weren't for this, the book would easily be a 4-star read, if not higher. I have enjoyed this series for the most part and I am attached to the characters, I'm just annoyed by the lack of story progression.

Just Keeps Getting Better

Absolutely love this series! Each of the stories takes us further into the next adventure and change for Amy and Bohdi. I love that Amy has Loki's memories and Bohdi is,Loki reincarnated. I really like how when you think you've got the story figured out, you realize you don't know if you do because Chaos can change things for better or worse.
I am sorry that Ragnorak is going to be the end of the series as I have been following this story since the beginning and don't want it to end. It's a fascinating world the author has created with terrific characters you just can't help cheering for.

I cried and cried throughout these books. My heart was broken several times as well and I literally laughed out loud in places! Wit, compassion, excitement.... this series has it all. If you love having an open mind and being entertained, then this is for you! Norse Mythology at it's most fun and fabulousness :)

This series must be read in order. The first book is I Bring the Fire Part I : Wolves (A Loki Story). The second book is Monsters : I Bring the Fire Part II (A Loki Story). The third book is Chaos: I Bring the Fire Part III (A Loki Story). The fourth book is In the Balance: An I Bring the Fire Novella (IBF 3.5). The fifth book is Fates : I Bring the Fire Part IV: The Hunt for Loki is On. The sixth book is The Slip: A Short Story from I Bring the Fire. This is the seventh book.

Bodhi and Amy are on the outs it seems. And Steve? Well he is up to something that has him feeling INCREDIBLY guilty so he's no help. Beatrice doesn't like Bodhi and has gone all overprotective on Amy and that is kinda worse in many ways. Amy feels like she can not trust Bodhi as he lied about having a girlfriend in Nornheim (she wishes they could at least be friends again...they were even friends when he wasn't Chaos and was still just Bodhi) Bodhi has no idea why Amy has withdrawn from him and now he is always angry. A comedy of errors if there ever was one... Kinda like Amy and Loki in the beginning but Amy still doesn't know Loki loved her so all she does is doubt herself and her worth. Bodhi can't see how Loki could have possibly not loved Amy... Especially as he does and h doesn't even have Loki's memories. As I am sure you know from the previous books in this series this just sets the scene for all the magical mayhem to follow!

In essence this is a story about the revolution against the oppressor that we didn't even know we had. Odin feels he owns us and our world and will stop at n nothing to get us on our knees worshiping him as the All father again as we did in the stone age... Well Steve will not allow that and neither will Amy or Chaos! This story is a mad dash race against time to circumvent the enslavement of Earth with all the action, adventure, thrills, mysteries and absolute chaos the series is loved for! How will they stop Odin? Who can be trusted? Will everyone survive? And still the humor shines through on each and every page :) I absolutely ADORE this series and will be devastated when it ends but I still cannot wait to read the next book Ragnarock when it comes out!!!

***This series is suitable for adult readers

I just finished this part of the series and it is certainly named correctly. There is a lot of battles going on mostly physical but some internal and emotional. I see this part setting up the reader for the next part very nicely. There were a lot of questions coming into this part and now there are so many more. It is going to be so hard to wait to find out what happens to Amy, Bodhi and Steve, as well as, the supporting cast of characters. I do love when the author gives the reader hints of things but the characters are not aware of what those hints mean, even though they are the ones who heard them. What fun that will be to see how it is going to unfold. Looking so forward to Part VI.

Really love this book! I think this is the one where the magic and technology that have been slowly circling each other for the whole series finally come together and it's great to see. One of my favorite things about this series is how the author blends the mythological parts of the story with the modern urban fantasy parts and also adds a bit of sci-fi in there as well. I also think Amy comes out of her shell even more in this one and it sets everything up really well for the final showdown in the next book.

I put off starting to read this cos I knew that I'd finish it and want more. So procrastinating for a few days sorta helped defer that for me.

I enjoyed the characters and plot development ... and almost expected to see Ratatoskr in one scene. I like the foul mouthed squirrel.

I already know I'm going to have to re-read the series just before the final book is published, or perhaps after it has been so I can just keep reading.

This story just keeps getting better and better. The writing seemed more tighter in this installment and the pacing of the storyline was sublime!! I cannot wait for the last book to find out what happens. If you're looking for a great series in the realm of scifi/fantasy which is well though out and full, and I do mean full of, mythology and cutting edge science - this is the series for you! Kudos to Ms. Gockel!!

I haven't enjoyed a series like this in a long time. I can't wait for the finale! I have a feeling as soon as I finish it I'm going to turn around and read all six over again - this time without having to wait!

Talk about adrenalin! This series just gets better as we go on. Bodhi and Amy are in the centre of trouble and a major leap in evolution, all to save her dog and their friend. But that's not all they're about to do. The author maintains the wit, the laughs, the thrills and twists throughout.

I've been looking forward to this installment for months and it did not disappoint. I especially liked the combination of medicine and magic and the reappearance of Loki's family from Asgard.

No longer a fan

I regret buying these books, the editing process leaves a lot to be desired & the military scenes are just wrong. I ignored those things because I enjoyed the story & characters. I sent the author a message letting her know that I really enjoyed her books. I politely suggested that she might want to consider having a veteran proofread future works to make those scenes more realistic.

The mythology is meticulously researched, but I am pretty sure she has never seen a firearm in person & it shows. I was very polite and I praised her stories. Her replies were rude , enough that I regret reading stories I once enjoyed. I will never buy another book from her. I recommended that she turn off the messaging feature on her page if she doesn’t know how (or want) to handle anything but blind praise. I did praise her, but I politely pointed out how she might improve future works.

She writes about Bodhi being IN MOS with someone, as if it were a place. It is not the school where you learn military specialty after boot camp. AIT (Advanced Individual Training) is where you learn your MOS.

In another book, the ice caves when the characters are told to shoot tracer rounds to scare the Yetis and only switch to live fire and kill/injure them if the tracers don’t scare them away. Sorry, but tracer rounds will kill you just as dead, they just provide a pretty light show before they do. They are simply live rounds with a small amount of pyrotechnics in them.

Anyway, unless you get her books for free, spend money on another author who is a little more gracious to fans who spend their hard-earned money on their books. An author who is a lot more polite about polite suggestions from a fan who only wants to see the author become even better!

Well, Steve has lost all good guy points I ever gave him and it’s only Ch1. Epic douche Steve. I hope he dies horribly. Possibly at Loki’s hands, but I’m not picky. Unfortunately it seems he might be set up as the next incarnation of Preservation, so he’ll likely survive. Maybe that’s why he’s sudden extra-douchey? Got to start channelling his inner-Odin.

Beatrice has also undergone character assassination this novel, which was very irritating. Is she possessed by Hoenir or just following instructions from him? Either way, it’s making Hoenir seem like the bitchy jealous ex who can’t handle the fact that Loki (and/or Bodhi) loves Amy.

Sigyn, Nali and Valli were fun. And Sigyn might just be the most awesome person in the whole series. Nothing fazes her and she’s just generally GOOD. Loves Loki, loves her kids, loves his other kids that aren’t hers, accepts and seems to like Amy.

The cliffhangers have ramped up even further - humans have magic, Odin’s in charge of lots of Earth governments and thinks he has all ‘known’ troublemakers trapped on Jotunheimr to more easily wipe out.

I still miss original Loki. Bodhi aka Loki-light-with-an-extra-side-of-jerk just isn’t cutting it for me. Amy’s flashbacks are the only good Loki :(

Book recommendations: https://fantasybooksland.com/

The novel is full of exciting moments, unexpected twists, and a cast of memorable characters. Every page is filled with suspense and intrigue, making for an intriguing read. The plot is well-crafted and the writing style is fluid and accessible.

The characters are vibrant and engaging, with each having a unique set of characteristics that make them stand out from the rest. Bohdi, in particular, is a fascinating character to follow. He is often a source of mystery and is always one step ahead of his foes.

Overall, Warriors (I Bring the Fire #5) by C. Gockel is an exciting, action-packed novel that will keep you engaged from start to finish. If you’re looking for a thrilling read, this is the book for you.

Love the intro of Loki’s family. Hate Steve – what a dick. At least in the first 3 books when he manipulated Amy it was for the greater good and he still seemed to genuinely care about her. Now he is constantly playing with people’s feelings and it seems to be less about what is right and more about Steve’s power and control. Plus he never once apologises for what he did to poor Amy re the baby or acknowledges that it was wrong. And he is a shitty Dad, ignoring and dismissing his poor grieving daughter. I hate that he is one of the main characters. And it annoys me that he knows that Bohdi is Chaos and Amy doesn’t.

As the second time I have red this series, I didn't get tired of the story. I love how Bohdi's character is becoming fleshed out and how he is finally coming to terms with what he is. Yet there is that conflict there after everything happens that weighs on his conscious. Amy is an amazing rock for him, but I really did wish Bohdi told her sooner what was weighing on his mind rather than keeping it from her.

I don't like this book nearly as much as the others but then it could be that we see more of Steve Rogers in this book and he is not a nice guy. Heck he is just a power hungry control freak and even while the author tries to blunt his personality with family he just comes across as a complete d@#$head. Steve Rogers reminds me of Trump. They are both con men who will do and say anything to get what they want.

We see some character changes, or perhaps the real personalities of some characters come out in this novel. One of my favorites is terrible hurt, Our lead protagonist has to face ethical quandaries. The entire novel is jam packed with action. One fears the reader might suffer whip lash, but I love it all. This is one great chapter in this series. I highly recommend this novel. I received it from BookFunnel. this is my true and honest review.

Baby it's cold outside has nothing on Warriors. Gockel twists the tale of Amy and Bohdi even farther dragging us into the frozen wastes of Jotunheim. Her world building of the nine realms continues to amaze rivaling the voyages of Sinbad and Gullivar's Travels... it's definitely been a good read on a dark winter night.

Ahhhhh!!!!

You stopped THERE!

Damn that was cruel lol.

Odin is making life very difficult for our Scooby hang 😮

Amy, Bohdi, Steve, Claire, Beatrice, Fenrir and the others are now trapped, will they ever make it home.

No clue but I'm loving it!

Re-read the first few books now I'm on to new ones, for me that is 😁😁😁

The series starts to move much faster in this book. Odin’s attacks and manipulation of people on Earth increase. There is a lot of action, and Amy, Bohdi, and Steve all find themselves having to make major choices. This ends in the middle of the story, so be prepared to read the next book immediately.

This is part of the I Bring the Fire series.

Still enjoying the series

These books are fun, light reading. Amy, Bohdi, Steve, Beatrice, and Claire (as well as Fenris) are off on a wild adventure to keep Odin from invading Earth. Without giving anything away, magic is in the air.... Or close enough.

3.5 stars, but MUCH better than book 4, which barely scraped in at 3 stars, so I'm rounding up. The pøot is advancing and the characters are getting their shit together. I'm ready for the big showdown.
