Jacob is a soldier in a war against a new type of enemy. Trained in the basics of ground combat and tossed a weapon, he is now on the front lines of the global conflict. He must face the Delta Horde or risk his families eviction to the refugee camps. Inexperienced, Jacob discovers he has something far more valuable than weapons and armor, his fellow soldiers at his side. As a team, they struggle to survive battles and an enemy that would ruin a man standing against them alone. Only together can they find a way to end the reign of The Darkness. This is a novel of horror, courage, and resiliency in the face of an unspeakable enemy.

W. J. Lundy is a still serving Veteran of the U.S. Military with service in Afghanistan. He has over 12 years of combined service with the Army and Navy in Europe, the Balkans and Southwest Asia. W.J. is an avid athlete, writer, backpacker and shooting enthusiast. He currently resides with his wife and daughter in Central Michigan.

I developed the Whiskey Tango Foxtrot series from notes and ideas I had put together while deployed to Afghanistan. I had been jokingly asked how we would defend against a zombie attack.

I wanted to tell a story that portrays the military that I know, that displays our actual capabilities. These are my thoughts, I hope you enjoy them, and thank you for reading.

Seriously great sequel!!!

Lundy does what many can not do, place an ordinary man in impossible situations and somehow make it believable. Jacob is smart, intelligent and likable but still nothing spectacular about him. He has a nine to five job as an engineer, is a loving husband and father when the world as he knows it just goes to hell. He's scared, unsure and completely out of his element as a soldier. It's not what or who he is but Jacob finds stores of strength and courage to do what he must to survive and keep his family and new friends alive. Following his harrowing escape with Stephens, Jacob finds himself once again on the front lines. It's not as if he had a choice. Once he recovered from his wounds, he is told, join the military or he and his family would be sent to the refugee camp. That alone says it all. There has never in the history of man been a refugee camp that is cozy, warm and welcoming. It is not a safe haven but the worst hell hole of what is left of civilization. He makes the only choice he can to ensure the safety of his family. After a two week intense training course on how to be a soldier, Jacob once again finds himself on the front lines. It seems that the Darkness, or Deltas as the soldiers call it is gaining strength and the soldiers are falling fast. He has unknowingly made a name for himself when he and Stephens fought their way out of the last situation. But he is an engineer, scared unsure and just plain out of his league. But he follows Stephens who requested him to join The Assassins, a new team that goes deep into enemy territory taking the fight to the Delta's. Only what he knows about the Darkness is about to change as they seem to have evolved and are getting closer to the last bastions of humanity. The same area where he has left his wife and daughter. Jacob soon discovers they have one chance to defeat the Darkness and the fight is intense, frightening and just plain disturbing. But if he can't make this new weapon work all humanity will fall. Just an ordinary man, loving husband and father, an engineer placed in a terrifying position and with only one choice left him. Jacob digs deep inside himself to fight and survive for himself, his family and what is left of humanity. THE SHADOWS is a great sequel to THE DARKNESS and looking forward to the much anticipated next chapter to this great trilogy. It's a must read for all who are into the the Zombie/Creature/Mutated Humans end of the world apocalyptic scenario, you will not be disappointed.

And the Hits Just Keep on Coming!!!

Stop reading reviews and click the BUY IT NOW BUTTON.........NOW!!!!! You will not be disappointed. But go back and read the first book in the series before reading this one but you might as well BUY this one now because you are going to be racing back here to get it as soon as you finish the first.

On another note, you MUST READ the authors other series, Wiskey Tango Foxtrot (6 books I believe it is up to now). That series is amazing. If you are a fan of The Arisen series you will absolutely love this series and Whiskey Tango Foxxtrot series as well. Actually, if you are a fan of Vince Flynn, Thor, Clancy, Jack Murphy, etc. You will love these books as well. You get to skip the pages long explanations of how things work and go straight to the action but don't let that fool you, the character development in these books is great as well. The author has you pulling for characters, hating others and just plain loving life as you are filled with enjoyment and contentment as you devour the pages - you will not be able to put these books down!

With that said, I promise you, you need to read Whiskey Tango Foxtrot series IMMEDIATELY!! You can thank me later!

Well done sir, again. Thank you for the hours of pure entertainment and most of all, THANK YOU FOR YOUR PERSONAL SERVICE TO OUR GREAT NATION!

W.J. Lundy just doesn't let it go easy! This second book in 'The Invasion' series is fantastic! Unbelievable action, detailed tactics and an outstanding story. So incredibly well written, I feel exhausted, like I was a part of it. Jacob Anderson continues to humbly perform his duties in hopes of getting back to his family. As with any ongoing battle there are victories and tragic losses.

This series is on a roll and although I can't see any hope for the human race, Mr. Lundy brings it all in 'danger close' to give the reader a glimpse of a possible salvation. Amazing book. I highly recommend this entire series!

Another winner by W. J. Lundy

Another winner. Fast paced, excellent plot and characters who are real and who we care about. This storyline gives Mr. Lundy more free rein to use his imagination to take us to a pretty frightening existence.

I have read all the author's books and can say definitively that he has grown as a writer with each book.

Another classic

As this was written by W.J. it was no surprise that this was a great read which I managed to squeeze in between other great reads from phalanx authors. The detail is great but not overwhelming and as usual the author doesn't kill you with unnecessary technical detail. W.J. Lundy tells a great story, I could feel the fear of the characters and smell the cordite!!

Second book much better than the first IMO. Book two chronicles the fight against the infected at "the pond" and the discovery of a chemical that ruins their day completely. Fast paced, lots of action. The ending is anti-climatic and leaves you guessing. There must be another book coming. I look forward to it.

Much better than I expected! I wasn't thrilled with the book before this one, but I like the author's other stuff so I figured I'd continue the series. I'm glad I did! It got better once they land in Michigan. MUCH better!

Great sequel

Amazing how a story where a man like Jacob has no military skills can prove himself as a leader and follower in a military apocalyptic squad.

Outstanding Read!

One of the most engaging, exciting and riveting SF novels I have read. This is, in my opinion, Lundy's finest work to date. I can't wait for Book 3!

Great, easy read

Really a nice change from the same old, same old zombie story. He and Dirk Patton are the two best zombie writers out there

I have enjoyed this series so far!

The Shadows is the second book in The Invasion Trilogy and this book is just as entertaining as the first one. Jacob has finally reached safety and in order for his family to stay on the military base and stay protected he must enlist and go fighting against the darkness. We are introduced to new characters and one of my favorite is James. He has quite the sense of humor and I would definitely want him fighting on my side. W. J. Lundy has done an excellent job on this series so far and I can’t wait to start reading the final book The Light.

Better than Book one.

Book two took off right where book one ended. Thank goodness. Although there was no cliffhanger, just the wait was excruciating. Kidding. Took two minutes. I am enjoying reading this series. Most books you can see how they are going to end. Nope. Not this one. I am still clueless. I say this every time I read this author's books....this is not my usual genre. I am that moth. I keep coming to the light. It is nice to get to read well written book. Oh, quasi spoiler alert. You can see a change in Jacob. Slowly. Even he doesn't see what we do.
Off to read the last book.

Brilliantly written plot and the action is realistic to operational soldiers

Brilliantly written plot and story that makes sense as the fog of war is lifted and your invincible enemy becomes an enemy that can be beaten as the world watches and learns to fight a new kind of battle and we adapt to overcome our opponent who is vulnerable we stand a chance now and I cannot wait to start the next book.

Good grief have I finished book 2 already!

This is a really good read and I read the pages greedily, I just had to know what happened next love these books and they are written in such a way and with such conviction that you would believe that you are reading an historic war story instead of a novel

Shadows: Moving, Scoring, and Moving On

WJ Lundy has a very unique way of continuing his episode of the John Warren series. He jumps right into the action while making the reader feel he never really left the previous one. Picking up where an author left off a previous book is not as easy, but Lundy appears to have mastered it.

There is none of that telling a story from the viewpoint of five different sets of characters that no one without a perfect memory could keep up with or even care about seems to be popular right now. I was glad to see that Lundy has not succumbed to this off putting technique.

Lundy can sure move a story along and who would have thought interrupting a man sharpening a lawnmower blade would have such a catastrophic impact on an enemy? Don’t mess with men who know how to do things.

Different-suspenseful

Lots of action but I like how this story does its apocalypse and what brings it about. It is different from the emp/ zombie story line and it’s a nice change.

Insurgent

I enjoyed the mission of John Warren and his group as they free Michigan from UN and Panda forces. He was aided along the way by old friends and new ones. Next target , my home State of Indiana. 😊

This roller coaster ride picks up where The Darkness ended. Jacob is now officially enlisted in the army to fight the evil that is threatening to engulf the world and take over humanity. He has reunited with his family and they are now safe on base while he goes out with a familiar character and many characters that you will learn to pray for. The Darkness, The Others, Deltas or whatever you want to call them are evolving into creatures that can plot ambushes, fire weapons and generally make them harder to stop plus they are multiplying at a terrorizing rate. A weapon is found that may actually stop these creatures but the mission is not without risks. This book is a non stop, action packed tale of the fight for survival with many horrific battles. The twist at the ending will having you screaming "NO' and ready to dive into the last book to see how this awesome trilogy ends.

Glad to find this series is still going strong

I read the first book a year or so ago and there were no sequels. Knowing my memory and Amazons lousy tracking tools I feared that by the time the sequel came out I would not remember the name of the series.
I was glad to have found it and I must say this was a good "second act" in the story. Less frantic than the first book, but with plenty of action and a very compelling story.
What started as a zombie apocalypse story morphed into an alien invasion story. As far as those go, it was pretty credible. I am about to read book 3 and I hope it will keep getting better.

Better than the first

This one was much better than the first. It fixed my two complaints I had for the first book. This one was more realistic with our guys getting rest and some sleep. Enough to keep moving and fighting. Then the wife Laura was much more loving in this one. This one was again action packed and they finally found something to fight back with. Though there isn't much of it available and this ending had me on the edge of my seat so thankful that the final book is out and I won't have to wait. I feel for all you that had to wait.
