In New Domino City, the hottest game in town is the Turbo Duel, fought from blazingly fast motorcycles called Duel Runners. On the outskirts of New Domino City, in a district known as Satellite, a new Turbo Duel hero emerges--Yusei Fudo! On his custom-built Duel Runner, Yusei takes on all challengers, fighting for his friends and the future of Satellite!
THE D1 GRAND PRIX BEGINS!!
Yusei enters the D1 Grand Prix, hoping for a chance to duel Jack Atlas. There are new rivals and new duels to fight and the competition will be fierce. Can Yusei battle his way to the top, or is he destined to crash and burn?
This is actually a reread from many years ago, me in middle school would give this a 5 stars but now it's just eh for me, still entertaining and fun but Sect (the protagonists friend) does that whole thing where he snaps at anyone who talks to them. Blah blah (I think I'll call it the Sam Gammege effect).
While I enjoyed this more than the first one, I won’t be continuing. I’m finding it too hard to understand the concepts here. It’s definitely because I have no other knowledge about this franchise.
5D's continues as the Grand Prix kicks off and we get a flurry of duels over the course of its first day. Yusei vs Greiger was enjoyable; as it is fusion vs synchro. Akiza faces off against Sherry, from a rival school. This duel had psychic powers involved which felt a bit weird. New character Crow Hogan pulls off a one-turn kill in a thrilling duel. And the volume ends with Yusei facing off against a biker gang leader. While these duels are enjoyable with great art by Sato; the "sense" concept still is as nebulous as ever in regards to what fuels it. However they do explain how to employ it more in the opening duel of this collection. We also see Sect return; as the tournament organizer's sinister intentions are revealed.
5D's continues strong, even if it could benefit from more expansion on its concepts.
I am glad they are giving more attention to Akiza as she is famously known to lack focus in the anime version that being said I prefer Anime Sherry as she seemed to have more personality as was more interesting as Manga Sherry was just there to be an early rival for Akiza. Also the concept of Sense seems to be a little confusing and I hope they actually explain what that is.
Even though this is a comic book, it is still entertaining. The best part was the ending cliffhanger when they show u who the skeleton knight possessed, trust me if you read the book, the ending will surprise you. So please, buy the book rate it and put your review on goodreads.com and support Masahiro Hikokubo. Thanks-Matthew
Not much improvement from the previous volume. Poor Aki Izayoi's character has been pretty much ruined. In the anime, she was treated like a 'witch' for having psychic dueling power (when she attacks someone, they actually get hurt, ect), while in the manga, she's a posh school girl who is so hard done by because she didn't like the academy she used to go to...

Di volume pertama, belum dapet ritmenya. Tapi mulai volume ini, udah mulai membius. Meskipun masih lucu aja duel sambil ngebut-ngebutan begitu. Adanya pertandingan D1GP buat ceritanya makin seru. Tapi beberapa hal yang kurang kayaknya duelnya kadang terlalu cepat. Kayak ada sensasi "lah gitu doang".
Yusei enters a tournament to try and beat that guy whose the bad guy! Watch him sharpen his dueling skills as well as seeing some of the other duelists in action. This book dragged a bit for me compared to the last one, or maybe I was just tired of reading about a card game. Still a pretty cool series.
this book was reilly good. about the begining of the d1 grand prix and the match of yusae vs gregor, akisa vs sherry, crow holgan vs bolt tanner, and the nexk day of yusae vs hunter
As a sequel to the first book in the manga series, I learned a lot about the series in this one, and I think that Jack is a great sub-villian and such. And Akiza is a great female character.
