Updated Review, January 2022:
Okay folks, the Winter Olympics is coming up this year and it's time to go into a nostalgia read for me and visit our dear friend, Snowman Paul. Who, by the way, keeps being autocorrected to Snowball Paul, and Yossi now needs to make a sidekick named Snowball Saul because... because it's a totally legit idea. Copyright and trademark that now folks!

Anywho, to the updated review: Yossi sent me a wonderfully updated copy for me to check out to celebrate the upcoming Winter Olympics. Since Snowman Paul is a wonderful book all about friendship and inclusivity, I really wanted to jump back in and give it another go. It's been almost three years! Can you believe that?! Time flies.

Mr. Snowman Paul wants to win Olympic gold, and he is ready to practice and do it! He's strong, fast and smart, so of course he's doing great. He has lots of fun going through all of the events with his friend. Except... there is something wrong... there's a reason why he's doing too good... It's time for Snowman Paul to learn a lesson in honesty!

Overall, this book is full of marvellous illustrations, a great moral lesson, and a fun story! The Olympic sports being tied in is a great way to bring sports up to the kiddos reading this book. What a marvellous read!

Original Review in July 2018:

The second book, Snowman Paul at the Winter Olympics, opens up with the super smart Paul reading a newspaper! This ambitious snowman wants to win an Olympic medal, and he plans to meet this goal! Paul introduces his little friend to the quality of confidence! If you aren't confident in yourself, however are you going to succeed? Even if you fail, at least you tried! The rhyming scheme is present in this book yet again, but it felt just right in this book. The art was ridiculously cute, and continues with the same style from the first novel (My Snowman, Paul). It passes my expectations for a simple picture book about a Snowman! I'd highly recommend this book, especially since it shows some of the amazing sports in the Winter Olympics, including ski-jumping, speed-skating, and curling. It's a fun book for any child's shelf. If you can, pick up the box set! The main theme behind this book was not cheating and being honest.

I love stories driven by a moral compass featuring honesty and integrity. Snowman Paul decides on his own that he will be participating in the Winter Olympics even though his best human friend Dan tries to dissuade him telling him he's too old and maybe he had better pass on this adventure.

Paul forges ahead with his plan and reluctantly Dan follows along to keep on eye out for his friend. The story is written in rhyme making the plot flow easily from page to page. Kids love rhyming books.

Readers track Paul as he whizzes down hills while ski-jumping, races at top speed in the speed skating competition, lucks out and wins on the curling rink, cruises on his snowboard while wiping out his competition and glides effortlessly on the luge-run. He's acing all of the events! Oh my can Dan believe his eyes and ears? Is Snowman Paul really pulling off all these wins ... really? Something looks very fishy to Dan because his friend's scores are just too good to be true. Whatever could be happening to make Paul number one each and every event? Mmmmmm... something is just not right.

The illustrations are truly amazing. They are dynamic and almost animated bringing the snowy Olympic scenes to life right before your eyes. Is Paul cheating as Dan suspects? Will Dan be brave enough to confront his friend and show him the errors of his ways if it's true? Dan has to make a difficult decision of what's the right thing to do and then follow through no matter what the consequences may turn out to be.

This book is a celebration of winter and all the fine sports that one can get involved in when it snows. Kids will love all the action and perhaps be inspired that maybe some day they too may want to experience Olympic greatness for themselves. This book touches on the themes of friendship, truthfulness and doing what is right and honourable. I highly recommend this book and all the other books in the Snowman Paul Series.

Another great book from Yossi.

This book with Dan and his Snowman, Paul..
Isn't really that bad at all.

Great for in and out of the classroom, good for teachers, children and parents alike.

A great little resource to teach kids right and wrong while having a bit of fun. Approaches the subject of cheating in sports.

Great Book About Winter Sports And Truthfulness

Written by Yossi Lapid, Snowman Paul at the Winter Olympics is a great children’s book about winter sports and truthfulness. Paul, a snowman, plans on winning gold at the Winter Olympics. His friend advices him better not to go. Paul goes, and to his friend’s surprise wins in all the sports he participates. Is Paul being truly honest about his abilities?

The color palette and the illustrations of this book are lovely, funny, and all about winter. Paul is shown competing in several winter sports, including ski-jumping, speed-skating, and curling. The story is told in rhyme, which makes it more interesting for little kids. Also, the story has a lesson about truthfulness. It teaches the children is not okay to cheat.

I recommend this book to parents, educators, and children who are into sports, particularly winter sports. The book is also an excellent choice to teach children about the importance of fair sportsmanship.

Snowman Paul was excited to win. He was headed for the winter Olympics and was not going to settle for anything less than a medal. However, something strange was going on when he literally won all of the games. In time his friend figured it out and now Paul was faced with a difficult choice to make.

I like this book because it is a simple read with a huge lesson. When there are less words, I am able to ask the kids more questions that lead to greater learning opportunities. This book is a great stepping stone on what it means to play fair and be a winner.

I received this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are mine and were in no way influenced by outside sources. I am a professional blogger at LittleLadyPlays

what a cool story of Paul winning the gold at the Winter Olympics!

I liked the fact that Paul had so much confidence in that he could win the gold and then when his friend, the boy said you were cheating because his friends, ice, wind etc. seemed to be helping him to win each area that he participated in and finally came to admit this and handed back the gold to the judges was teaching young kids 3-8 that it's best to be honest and not cheat. These are my reasons for wanting to rate this for five stars and to recommend this for kids 3-8 &+!
I received this ebook for free and in return, here is my honest review. Super work Yossi! By Sunny.

Paul was looking through the newspaper and decided that he wanted to compete at the Olympics . Dan thinks he is to old. Paul performs in skiing, Snow Boarding, and others events. Dan sees a problem and tells Paul. There is a wonderful lesson, Yossi Lapid, shows us how to solve, the Paul Snowman way.
I recommend this great book for the wonderful illustrations of the Olympics and winter. This book also show the kiddos about doing the right thing. Which will be a great conversation starter for you.
I was gifted this book for an honest review.

Fun way to introduce the Winter Olympic events. Paul the Snowman decides to compete in all of the events. Readers see him go and win each. Sadly Paul was cheating and had to confess and return the medals. Terrific lesson on honesty also. If readers look closely, they can see how the snow, wind, etc. help Paul cheat in each event.
Great read aloud to share when it snows or when they are wishing for snow.

Snowman Paul learns a very valuable lesson in this book that is written in rhyme. He participates in all kinds of sports including skiing, skating, curling, and snowboarding, placing first in each. His friend points out that he is cheating but Paul denies it. Paul finally admits that since he is made of snow, he has been using it to his advantage.
This book is a great book to teach kids about playing fair and being honest. It's also helpful to teach kids that it's okay to admit wrongdoing and confess to try to make things right.
I would recommend this book to kids around ages 3-6.
Disclosure: I was gifted a copy of the eBook and I am voluntarily leaving my review to help others with their buying decisions.

Snowman Paul at the Winter Olympics (Volume 2)

Written by Yossi Lapid

Illustrated by Joanna Pasek

It's especially admirable the way that author Yossi Lapid thinks like a child when writing his charming children's books--a high compliment for his genre.

Young Dan realizes that he has the smartest snowman in the world. Paul can even read grownup newspapers! And that talent gets him in a bit of trouble. Worse, Dan is shocked to hear that Paul plans on entering the Olympic Games and going for the Gold no less. Typical of little boys, Dan assumes Paul, a grownup snowman, is way too old to win even a Silver Award and might hurt himself trying. This makes Paul laugh. Him, fall on snow? Never, not at all!

So off they go on a bus and Paul proves Dan wrong. A snowman on snow and ice is a beauty to behold as Paul outshines all the rest and goes for the gold. Now you might guess that Paul did win, but something nags at Dan----something not quite right. Wait until you read what was helping Paul and how he solves the problem the way a true champion might.

Once again author Yossi Lapid writes another story in the Paul the Snowman series which makes adults smile and young children laugh out loud. This story, like the others, teaches a life lesson and moral in the best way---through reading.

As usual, the illustrations are eye-catching and lovely and help to move the story forward. This book is a great choice for pre-schools, daycare centers, and kindergarten. It's also perfect as a read-to for toddlers, by expanding their learning and word skills. This age group particularly enjoys stories that rhyme. On having read one story in this series, you'll want to collect them all . . . and so will the kids.

This book was given to me as a gift with no obligation to review it.

The Snowman Paul Series: Vol. 1–4 By Yossi Lapid
Starts out with the snow falling, very colorful children's book. Hard to read the words and with two devices I'm not able to enlarge them. After Paul assembles the snowman he starts talkng to Paul and he just wants to play.
They run in the snow and play while others are watching...
Another book is about snowman Paul and he's reading about the Olympics and wants to compete...Like how he helps him exercise to build up his muscles...
Another book is about them saving Kate's birthday. Such detailed colorful places and lots of special things to look at-reminds me of the green room in good night moon.
And at the concert hall This snowman can do just everything! Other works by the author are highlighted at the end, along with a gift.

Snowman Paul at the Winter Olympics by Yossi Lapid
Colorful, children's book about the Winter Olympics.
Dan a little boy watches as Snowman Paul is studying about the events in the winter Olympics. He wants to compete and knows he will win gold.
He exercises and Dan is afraid Paul will hurt himself. The snowman is made of snow so there's not much harm he can come on on the snow.
He competes in all the events and his scores are very high then Dan realizes how it all happened....cheat????
He talks to Paul about it and wants him to do the right thing.
Love all the events he competes in, so real to life! Paul can't wait for the summer games to compete again but that might be a bit hard as he will melt in the hot weather.
Dedication page at the end and a note from the author.
Highlghted works from the author are also listed at the end.

Snowman Paul at the Winter Olympics by Yossi Lapid

1. Awards: Mom's choice gold award winner.

2. Grade Level: K-2

3. Summary: Snowman Paul joins the winter Olympics. Durning the games he learns a tough lesson about cheating. He can’t wait for the next summer Olympics and trying again.

4. Review: This is a very cute book that teaches about cheating and trying hard. There are great illustrations. This book takes you on a fun ride.

5. Classroom Use: One classroom use for this book is learning about cheating. I would ask the class if anyone knows what it means and as a class we will discuss how it is wrong. Another idea is drawing a picture of one event Snowman Paul tried at the Olympics.

Very Clever Story

I showed the ebook to my husband who said he wished he had thought of it! This is a darling story and approach to telling the truth and being honest led by the child. Snowman Paul is just so good at winter sports, but why? No, he does not take steroids. Just clever!

The illustrations of these books are very beautiful.
In this rhyming story, Paul has a secret, and he's the one who's been naughty this time. To everyone's surprise, he is really good at the winter games with a bit of help, but his friend sees through it.
The end is clever and very funny.

What a Speedy Snowman!

Paul discovers the Winter Olympics and he is determined to win a gold medal. He competes and competes, and he does extremely well! But something isn’t right—we can tell.

I love snowman Paul ;) This series has excellent rhymes and clever stories. Someday perhaps I’ll own the whole collection.

This is a good launching pad for teaching about doing the right thing. We all have a moral compass but we need to be reminded of what it means to do the right thing.
