I kind of put off the sequel for fear of being let down - to me, Mina seemed like a one-book wonder and I wanted to remember her as the teenager with a biting sense of humor on the brink of turning vampire. I was also afraid that I'd have trouble with jumping back into Mina's world after being out of it for so long.
Imagine my delight to see that Mina - though 100% vampire now - still is her rockin' snarky self! and provides such hilarious lists of sucky things as well as those debunked More...

Vernal Vampire
This book gets a very non sucking 4 gnomes and a gnome hat out of 5 gnomes for more great humor and a new setting that's just as fun as the original.
I like the formatting of these books like how you see Mina's emails, text messages and journal entries throughout both of these books and the truth and myths about vampires at the start of chapters. I think seeing this makes you picture the character even better.

Picking up where Sucks to Be Me: The All-True Confessions of Mina Hamilton, Teen Vampire (maybe) left off, Mina has made the choice to become a vampire and has been turned. However, the Vampire Council decides that Mina and her family will have to be relocated from Los Angeles to the tiny town of Cartville, Louisiana. Suffering from severe culture shock, and separation from her best friend Serena, and her boyfriend George, Mina has plenty on her plate.

My book is called still sucks to be me by Kimberly Pauley. My book starts out with a dead girl. Her name is Mina Hamilton she’s also a vampire. She lives in a small town not very many people live in it. She says her life sucks cause of what happened in that small town. She says she gets pushed around and people don’t treat her right. They treat her like she was a nobody. Yes she did have a couple of friends but not a lot of them. They like her, but still thought of her as a freak. She didn’t car

I enjoyed this second look into Mina life as much as I enjoyed the first one, although now that she is a vampire, an entirely new set of problems invade her life.
First, she must give up her BFF Serena because Mina and her family have a fake fatal accident that leave them believable dead to their live in California, and the Vampire Counsel arranges for them to move to LA, which Mina mistakenly believes is short for Los Angeles. What a surprise then when Mina finds out her family is f More...

Still Sucks To Be Me is the sequel to Kimberly Pauley's awesome vampire book, Sucks To Be Me. Why is this series so awesome? Well let me just say, it is lighthearted, doesn't take the vampire thing too seriously and it's hilarious!
This book picks up pretty much immediately after the previous book. Mina is now undead and she is being relocated! Yikes! And while she is holding out hope she's just moving to LA, she doesn't realize that LA stands for Louisiana, and not just any city in L More...

Okay, before I start my review, I just want to say that I was sent the book directly from Kimberly Pauley for the book tour and on the package she wrote Go Gators! (If you know anything about me, you know I'm a HUGE Gator fan) That totally made my day and she rocks!
This was a cute sequel to Sucks to be Me. I read the first book back in 2008 and enjoyed it. This book was no different! I love how every chapter starts off with a cute Myth and Truth about Vampires and that some c More...

The story of Mina continues, well, not exactly Mina Hamilton, but Mina Smith when she died, not exactly dies, dies, but more like undead. She has to leave her best friend in California and move to a middle of nowhere. She thinks they could have gone somewhere, but her dad found a "really great" job in Cartville, the middle of nowhere. Her boyfriend George, goes to Brazil to be with his parents. In Cartville, Mina meets people like Cameron, another one like her, a vampire, but Raven is

Now that Mina is a vampire, she has to relocate with her family to the south while her vampire boyfriend George visits his newly found vampire parents in Brazil. She also has to leave her BFF Serena behind in CA but soon finds out that being a vampire may have perks like great looks and strength, but there are still cons like her having to start in a new school and not knowing anyone. But with George not answering emails, texts or phone calls, Mina starts to think he has lost interest and her

Must I spell it out for you? I simply loved it. It was hilarious. I found it even funnier then the first book, (but then again, there was more cause for laughter in this book) (ie cow pie crown) However this book had a lot more drama in it. A lot. In the last book it was mostly teenage drama, this time it was like 'life or death,' drama. Good. I loved this book a lot because it had a lot more sarcasm, and there was a lot more lightheartedness in this one. Which of course I loved :) I loved how

Life as a vampire isn’t working out so great for Mina. The Vampire Relocation Agency is forcing her and her parents to move to a podunk town in Louisiana. Adding to the anxiety of moving, the family can’t take anything with them. No clothes, photos, or keepsakes from their old lives are allowed. The VRA can’t take a chance on someone recognizing them since the Hamilton’s have been pronounced dead. They can’t even have access to their money until some time has passed. Mina is miserable, but

My full Still Sucks To Be Me review can be found at Agrippina Legit.
Still Sucks To Be Me picks up where the original left off, with Kimberly Pauley's heroine, Mina, having just become a vampire. Given that the first Mina book focussed upon her conflict over being forced to choose between life and undeath, it would have been easy for the sequel to fall into the all-too-common trap of trying to create further plot and interest where there is none. Instead, however, Pauley has delivered More...

I know what everyone is thinking, "Oh no not another teen vampire book". This is far from the typical teen vampire book that seems to be hitting the shelf recently. This book is filled with humor, great characters, and a fast moving plot that doesn't revolve around teens falling in love and having forbidden love.
The thing that stands out about Still Sucks To Be Me is the humor. Kimberly Pauley knows how to balance the jokes and side comments with the plot. It's not overly More...

I absolutely LOVED this book.
Mina has now relocated to Cartville Louisiana, just on the outskirts of New Orleans. Now trapped in a very small town with nothing to do, Mina soon becomes the center of attention at her new highschool. Her boyfriend, George, is AWOL in Brazil, and Mina catches the eye of the only other resident teen vamp in town, Cameron.

Newly turned vampire Mina Hamilton is about to be re-located after her "death" and funeral by the Vampire Relocation Agency. When Mina and her parents end up in the boondocks of Louisiana, she feels devastated because her best friend Serena must not be contacted and her boyfriend George is re-connecting with his absent parents in Brazil. To combat boredom, Mina enrolls in vampire continuing education classes in shape-shifting and receives private lessons in mind control from felllow h

I am a librarian in a middle school - grades 7 and 8 - ages 12 through 14 (sometimes up to age 16). I've wanted to read Sucks to Be Me and Still Sucks to Be Me since the first one was published. I haven't had the opportunity until summer break because I can't pry it out of the hands of the students! You can always tell a good book by the fact that one person checks it out and it gets passed from student to student without returning to the library. They don't want to take the chance on someone el

First off, you best read the first one in the series first: Sucks To Be Me. This one, Still Sucks To Be Me builds upon the first one and continues the story of Mina who is now a fledgling vampire. The story is just adorable and told with a lot of wit and snarky comments from Mina in the form of To Do lists and journal entries as well as normal chapters. I found the posts at the top of each chapter just hilarious and filled with "true facts" about vampires as Mina knows them.

I loved this one just as much as I loved the first book in the series. Although there was a lot of drama this time around, at heart this series still feels extremely light hearted and enjoyable, especially when compared to other teen vampire books. Mina and her family are forced to move so that her Dad can study with Dr. Jonas, a famous vampire historian. They end up moving to a small town in Louisianna called Cartville. Small town living can difficult for anyone, but trying to keep a huge s

In the first book, Sucks To Be Me, Mina had to make a decision to become a vampire like her parents or remain human. In Still Sucks To Be Me, Mina has made her choice and now she has to deal with the outcome of that decision along with hilarious situations that only Mina could get herself into.

Myth: Vampires are sparkly
Truth: They are funny and snarky, too!
Newly turned vampire Mina continues on in this sequel to Sucks to be Me by Kimberly Pauley. She and her parents (also vampires) are transferred to a itty bitty town in Louisiana by the Council and are assigned a Vampire Relocation Agent. Part two in Mina’s life finds her as a vampire. The vampire council arranges her and her parent’s deaths and then relocates them (witness protection style) to the middle of nowhere. Despite this, Mina manages to land smack dab into trouble with a Black Cross wannabe, become confused when her boyfriend isn’t returning her calls/emails and a new vampire boy comes on the scene and hide the fact that she’s still in contact with her human best friend (who is supposed to think she’s dead) back home.

Now that Mina's a vampire, she's had to leave behind her old life. New name, new identity, a new town. She left behind George, her boyfriend, and Serena, her best friend, having to fake her own death. Mina's previous life, however, is catching up with her quicker than she thought. Between shape-shifting classes and a rather attractive boy, Mina's got plenty to deal with.

"Second verse, same as the first!"
this sequel of "sucks to be me" is worthy of being on the same level as its first book! Even for many great stories, the sequels are usually a disappointment- dragging it out for too long. This is not the case for "still sucks to be me"!!! this fabulous book is not the typical corny vampire love story- it is a genuine girl who made her choice and is continuing to live out her story the best way she knows how. In Still Sucks To Be Me, we return to the world of Mina, the VRA, George and Serena. Mina’s now a vampire. Now Mina is ‘officially dead’—she and her family are forced by the VRA to move. She has to move to Louisiana, leaving behind her whole life—including Serena (her best friend). And to top it off, George (her boyfriend) is in Brazil. I liked this book because it seemed almost probable that it could happen. One thing I really liked about it is you didn’t miss too much from where the last book

Mina and her all vampire family are being relocated to Louisiana. Yep, Louisiana. And not New Orleans, but some small town where everything is southern hospitality and possibly the home of the world's most dangerous vampires. See Mina's dad's new job is what has brought them here and his research is more than historical . But Mina does not know that and she mostly just missing her vamp boyfriend George and BFF Serena.

Okay, after reading the first book, I wanted to read the second book very much, but my mind tell me it was very late so I had to go to bed. And I decide to read it the next day.And I finish it by noon the next day.

Sucks to be Me, the previous book, was hilarious and had such a unique twist to it that I was looking forward to this book.
Mina is still as hilarious ever. Her comments are so funny, that sometimes I couldn’t hold it in me and just laughed out loud. I do apologize for all the people who where sitting next to me when it happened in the train. It won’t happen again, right. The characters are great and I loved the relationship that Mina has with her parents. It felt warm and very real. More...

I haven't read the first book but I love Mina. Sure some parts were missing but short details that can fill some blanks are provided here on the second book so I'm good. Have I mention that I love Mina? Well... she is hilarious, I love her sarcasm and her stubborn way of dealing with the changes in her life, not only of the undead vampire part but also the moving to Cartville, (out of nowhere) Louisiana part since the vampire authorities forged their death. A necessary precaution yet Mina insist
