This is the second book in the Agent of Evil series and it ROCKED! Loved it so much.

The beginning automatically sets the tone for a darker book. After surviving months on their own they are trying to find a safe place. They issue out a radio plea offering a safe place and instead found themselves much more deeper than what they thought. I like that they plot had lots of twist and turns. The great world building of the demise around them is awesome.

The characters have once again, grew so much. They learned more about each other and about the world they live in. As much as they want to save the world, they must learn how to survive in it first.

They love interest progressed as I thought it would. Great friendship, stolen peaceful moments as well as self sacrifice to save one another. Totally loving and joyful to read! I'm glad that their grows stronger with each other. Their passion is uniting and lovely to read.

Chaos is an exhilarating sequel. The never ending action thrusts the reader into a great thrilling read. The moment when Abby raises her gun to defend the ones she loves, the story explodes! Exciting yet strong, Chaos is amazing!

In Released, the first book in the Agents of Evil series, author Megan Duncan introduced readers to a refreshing and captivatingly stark apocalyptic world overrun by demons. And in Chaos Duncan continues to explore her heroine’s fight for survival in this dangerous and fierce new world.

Picking up where Released ends, in Chaos Abby and company have arrived at the military base to find it completely empty. But when they turn the radio transmission back on other survivors begin to arrive, seeking safety. With a growing group of survivors, Abby, Max and a few others set out on a supply run that quickly turns deadly and sets a whole new string of dangerous events into motion. In desperate need of medical supplies, Abby and Max find themselves crossing into demon territory and facing a new type of terrifying demon. How far must Abby go to ensure the survival of those she loves?

Demons, giant spiders, survivor squabbles, steamy romance, oh my! Author Megan Duncan packs a lot into this sequel and continues to deftly build her post-demon apocalyptic world. The four main teenagers from the first book are back, while new, engaging characters are introduced.

It’s the end of the world as the characters know it, with a vast array of different deadly demons constantly closing in; a waning number of vital supplies and potentially explosive arguments and disagreements threating any semblance of peace among the survivors. The world Abby currently resides in is bleak, scary, unforgiving and dangerous and Duncan has done a great job of bringing this world to life in a way that is always believable and intriguing. Every day is a fight for survival, creating an atmosphere that is intensely suspenseful, thrilling, startling and unpredictable.

I love the intense action and demon battling scenes included in book two. And the demons themselves continue to enthrall and chill me! Duncan’s own brand of demon baddies is such a refreshing change from the often repetitive supernatural elements found in YA.

The story is equally action and emotion driven. Amidst all the exciting and chilling gun shooting and demon killing, the author offers readers glimpses into the emotional and mental side of an apocalypse; whether it is a look at how life and death situations can bring the best and worst out of people, tear people apart or bring them intimately together. I really appreciated this much needed balance.

My girl Abby continues to be a really relatable and likable heroine. She grows and matures a great deal in book two, but in a way that always feels organic and never contrived. I like Abby and Max together and appreciate that the author has not thrown in a cliché teenage love triangle (thank goodness!!!), but the intensity and love between the two has felt a bit rushed from the beginning of book one to book two.

Towards the end of Chaos the characters begin to come up with a theory surrounding how the demons entered our world and I found it pretty unexpected and fascinating. I do wish there was more time spent on the why’s, where’s, and who’s though- Why are the demons here? Where did they come from? Who sent them?-and I’m hoping and thinking these things will be explored more in-depth in book three. And I have no doubt that Duncan will come up with something smart and innovative!

MY FINAL THOUGHTS: Megan Duncan does post-apocalypse right and continues to excite, thrill and captivate with her originality, strong world-building and likable characters. Chaos is an excellent second volume in a must read series!

Have you heard of Megan Duncan? Do you know who she is? If you answered no just then, I have to say you are mad and you need to look her up Right Now! If you answered yes, then you already know how awesome she is and you don't need me to tell you, but I'm going to tell you again anyway:
Megan Duncan is AWESOME, FABULOUS and in my opinion a MARVEL! I fell in love with Megan's writing last May when she sent me book 1 (Released) to read in exchange for a review. I think that was the best choice I ever made accepting that book, coz boy did it open up a whole new world for me.
I was instantly hooked with the story and couldn't wait for more. I then read the first 2 parts in her Vampire (Warm Delicacy) series and really enjoyed them but all along i really wanted this book. The next installment in Abby, Max & Carter's lives. So when I saw a blog tour for it I literally screamed with excitement. Then I found out Megan Duncan was doing a Giveaway on her blog and I had to enter it, I was lucky enough to win a copy of the e-book (I will be buying a paperback version, but this way I got to read it quicker :D)

The story picks up where book 1 ends, the group are in the Military Base, trying to survive and retain a semblance of normalcy in this chaotic world. They fight off regular demon attacks and try to find a way to stay alive, whilst finding more and more survivors.

If you haven't read book 1 I don't want to spoil too much for you, so you might not want to read the rest of this review, it might have some spoilers in it.

After surviving countless attacks, betrayals and deaths of companions in the first book, roles have reversed a little, Carter is a lot more withdrawn and although he says he wants to fight, he has been injured and is not sure he can handle it, so he becomes more of a background figure, but although you don't see him much, you know he is beavering away behind the scenes coming up with some great information and ideas.
Max and Abby are together, the idea of falling in love when the world is ending may sound crazy, but it's the only thing holding them together and able to fight. After all, I suppose it's now or never.

This book is a real page turner, there is always something that will either make you laugh, cry, scream, gasp or hold your breath in anticipation, not a single word is put to waste, it captivates you, pulls you in and sweeps you along. It was so good to get back in the world with Abby, she is just as Kick-ass, if not more so. Yes she still has her doubts and weaknesses, but don't we all. I love her as a character, not one to back down in the face of danger she will do anything for the rest of her group, for her chance of having life, not just for her, but for all the survivors.

The plot is fantastic, some real surprises and breath-taking moments and it gets really exciting, especially nearer the end. I can't believe I have to wait for the next part (Vengeance - coming soon) I have to know what happens next.

Am I too excited about this book? Is that possible? I don't know, but I hope I've convinced you how much I love it, and that you should definitely try it to.
I will warn you that there are some rather nasty Spider Demons in this book, so if you have a fear of them be warned. But also delight in the fact that a lot of them get killed.
Truly fabulous, danger, love, adventure, missions, demon-apocolypse! This book has it all.

In post-apocalyptic America, small groups of survivors hide amongst the ruins in an attempt to live through each day as demons destroy the world they once knew. After finally reaching the military compound, only to find it deserted, Abby, Max, Taya and Carter make it their base, welcoming newcomers as they trickle in, creating some sort of home for those who have already lived through more than anybody should have to in a lifetime.

Abby is tough and doesn’t like to show weakness, mostly because she recognises that as a leader, she needs to stay strong for those around her, otherwise the life they have tried to maintain for themselves will crumble. Like most people, though, Abby has a breaking point and she can only stay strong with the help of Max, Carter and Taya by her side. Along with newcomers Drew, Grant and Remie, the group fight to keep their new charges safe and survive the demons that have decimated their lives.

On a routine outing to scout for supplies, things go horribly wrong when the group accidentally exposes the hiding place of other survivors to a territorial group of spider demons, destroying the safe haven and injuring the group’s leader. Abby offers them safe haven and medical treatment at their compound but it quickly becomes apparent that their basic medical supplies won’t be enough to heal the wounded. Abby’s promise to do everything she can to help the injured, results in Abby and her group ignoring warnings about a potential new breed of demon and entering a deserted hospital in search of medical supplies. When you’re at war with demons, surprises are around every corner and once again, the group run into trouble that not only surpasses anything they have seen before, but proves fatal.

With death always a possibility, our characters learn to appreciate the little, simple things in life and have to wrestle with the possibility that every time they venture out of their base for supplies, someone may not return. Many characters still have their own personal demons to sort through as everyone has lost someone they loved or was important to them. No matter how much danger there is on the outside, internal demons need to be addressed before they resurface at crucial times. In the first book we saw the memories that plague Abby, Max, Carter and Taya and this time the readers are given the opportunity to get a glimpse of Drew, Grant and Remie, which provides depth and heart to their tough, warrior-like personas.

There is plenty of action and suspense with a focus on helping other survivors and doing what they can to improve their shocking living conditions. The return of a character from Released is welcome and provides some comfort for our heroes in such a chaotic time.

“Chaos” (Agents of Evil #2) is a great follow up to “Released.” This dystopian series is about a group of individuals who are trying to survive when the world is suddenly being overrun by various hybrid insects and animals that they grow to know as demons. The story begins shortly after the first book when Abby, Max, Carter and friends locate an abandoned military base that they turn into their stronghold. They begin sending out broadcast messages on the airwaves to others who may want to join them. Additionally, as they take in new people they continue to battle various demons the latest being the spider demons.

The story opens as Abby and company are defending their group from a horde of spiders. After their successful battle, they leave the carcasses for the birds of prey they call the cleanup crew. Somehow they have developed a strange relationship with a group of vulture demons who leaves their group alone as long as they can feast off of the other demon’s remains. Abby is determined to go on a supply run; so, she enlists the assistance of her boyfriend, Max and a few others in their group.

After going to a local Wal-Mart in search of anything that might be useful, Abby finds out that the generator at the military base is going out and they need to locate parts or another one or their military base will not remain safe. The group heads to the space museum where they begin to look around. Unfortunately, they discover a group of spider demons who are dead set on protecting their young. The demons are not the only thing they find, they also discover a group of teens who are being lead by an older woman. They manage to get a generator and a few supplies after being attacked. However, they manage to make it back to the base. Unfortunately, Eleanor has been gravely injured and in order to save her they must venture into an area of the base they know houses a fire demon. They have never encountered these demons before and are not looking forward to it.

This series continually ensnares me. The writing is superb, the characters are amazing and the action is fantastic. Each page manages to notch up my adrenaline and keeps me plastered to my seat. You cannot help but become emotionally invested in this ragtag group of misfits and their need to survive. Each book seems to build on the last leaving you breathless. I cannot wait for the next book in the series, it promises to be the ultimate thrill ride.

I have been waiting for the sequel for ages and the second I received the Advanced Readers Copy, I tried as much as possible to read it whenever I got the chance in between work and Uni. But only today did I actually sit down and read it from cover to cover. And damn. It got scarier. I don't know how Megan comes up with this stuff.

So, the book started out with Abby and the fighters or 'warriors' of the base getting ready to fight Spider Demons. It was intense, descriptive and entirely page turning. It gets gory sometimes but it isn't as bad as I thought.

New characters came rolling in and I immediately grew attached to them. Abby, Max, Carter and Taya weren't the same after the attack they went through before they reached the base in New Mexico. Honestly speaking, I didn't remember much of the first book. I read it so many books back. It's hard to keep track. I was struggling to remember what happened last time and Megan gave us some peaks and ideas to remind us what happened the book before and I'm so grateful for that!

As the story went on, the plot thickens and the demons began to get more complicated and harder to figure out. It terrifies me, that Megan writes about a world that could be ours. Hell literally breaking lose and demons of all sizes and shapes with different capabilities started to walk amongst us and nearly wipes out human race. It makes me wish, I owed a katana or a shotgun.

Anyways, the best part of the book (besides the fighting and the demons) is probably how real everything seemed. How the characters are all big emotional messes, all trying to fight to hope and stay strong. How they experience real pain and emotions like they're supposed to in a situation like theirs and most of all, how each one of them have lost someone dear to them and they're fighting to stay alive just for them. All this really makes a reader connect strongly with each character.

As usual, I hate it when the books end. Especially, when things start to get good, and we are left with such a huge cliffhanger. Either way, I loved going through another thrilling, seat wrenching, intensifying dystopian book by Megan Duncan! Now, Megan, you know the drill! Go write some more!

My Review of Chaos: Chaos was well worth the wait!!!

Who knew that a second installment of a series would be better than the first book? Megan Duncan has outdone herself with the second installment of the Agents of Evil Series.
My favorite character, Abby, has grown into a leadership role in this book which makes her even more likeable than before. It’s nice to see a woman take charge and even though Abby still has her feminine side, when the need to kick butt arises she springs into action. The love between Abby and Max continues to grow and it makes your heart melt.

I loved the new characters that came into the story as well as the reappearance of some characters from the first book. In my review of Released, I expressed how I felt the character Norah, who died, could have played a huge part in the continuing plot. Well, she did from the grave.

The demons in Chaos were quite extraordinary. I hate spiders and after reading Chaos, I hate them even more. My favorite demon so far is the Smoker Demon. It was the most troublesome demon the characters have fought thus far.
Overall, Chaos was definitely well worth the wait. It can be read as a standalone book since Megan does a great job building up the story line to give you a good grasp of what’s going on in order to understand the plot and characters. I would still recommend reading Released before reading Chaos as it provides more in depth information concerning the plot and the characters.

Chaos, the second novel in Megan Duncan's Agents of Evil series, is an action packed horror adventure that will leave you breathlessly waiting for the next book to be released. The action, the romance (Abby and Max are just the cutest, even with demons around), the demons! Oh, wow, I love Duncan's demons. They're so creepy they'll make your skin crawl!

I felt Chaos had a lot more action in it. Released focused more on the four original characters making there way in a desolate, demon-filled wasteland, whereas Chaos focuses more on survival and fighting back against the demons. The action really pushes the storyline forward in a great way. Duncan also has a way of leaving you terrified everytime the characters face off against the demons. I was, on more than one occasion, terrified for the characters and praying they'd be okay. I'll admit, sometimes I'd even turn ahead a few pages to make sure they'd be okay!

There were a few things that got on my nerves while reading Chaos. The first and foremost was the overuse of the word chaos. I felt like it was used at least once in every chapter, which sort of made it cheesy. Really, the only other thing was that I read Released a LONG time ago, so when I was reading Chaos I occasionally felt a little lost. Not story wise, but just references here and there that I knew meant something, but couldn't remember exactly what. So I'm going to say, for maximum enjoyment, read Released (or at least skim through to refresh you're memory) before diving into Chaos.

Sometimes with books and movies, the sequel just never stands up to the original. This is not the case here. Chaos is an awesome sequel. It's got all the action, without sacrificing the characters or plot. I highly recommend Chaos (and Released if you haven't read it, obviously) to anyone who loves paranormal romance, or just a good adventure!

Chaos follows Released, and continues the story of Abby, Carter, and Max as they struggle to survive in the new world that they have found themselves. A demon apocalpyse has changed the world as they know it, but instead of giving up, they have figured out how to fight them and keep their place in the world. Everything about this series is wonderful, from the characters to the story itself. The characters are easy to identify with because they are real, even living in this dystopian world. They have real problems, real issues, and that makes the alternate world absolutely believable. And that makes it that much more exciting and scary to read! Megan has created a world that is so much like our own that it is impossible not to fall into the story and feel as if it is happening right outside your own door.

Abby and Carter have changed roles in a lot of way in this new book, and it has added a level of interest and tension that really added to the story. Several of the characters from the first book had their own stories in this book and that was great, getting to really know them as a part of this world. A slew of new characters were added and it created some great story lines that I can't wait to see more of in the next book in the series. This is a really great series that I highly recommend!

I don’t know why but Megan’s Agents of Evil novels just mess with my head and give me nightmares! I love it! I read this over the Canada Day Long Weekend and Saturday and Sunday night - I had nightmares about demon crows and demon spiders (I HATE SPIDERS) I actually have a “spider scream”. Chaos was too short for my liking. I wanted more of the story I love it so much! There was a ton of action in Chaos which made me turn the pages faster. We met some new characters which I kinda sorta love them all. Some reminded me of characters from The Walking Dead and I totally pictured them like that. My two apocalypse loves mashed together = awesomeness. We learned a hint of how the apocalypse might have happened and I can’t FREAKING wait for book 3 to come out!!! I seriously need to know what Abby and crew are going to do and what is out….. Sorry I’m not going to finish that sentence and ruin the storyline for you :P. I love Carter and Taya I wish we saw a bit more of them but what we did see of them I loved. I loved how they added so much to the story when we saw them. I love how Abby and Max’s relationship is growing; I’m starting to feel what Abby feels with their relationship.

OMG- Intense doesn't even begin to describe this book! I mean, it is basically the end of the world with demons attacking around every corner so don't expect it to be all sugar & sprinkles!! Those few shared, private moments between Abby & Max are starting to mean the world to them because they realize every kiss may be their last. It's hard to keep hope alive among the group of survivors when every day they encounter new, more horrible kinds of demons and the demons they're used to fighting seem to be getting smarter & more organized. But somehow, through all the devastation, they all hold onto to one another for comfort and continue to battle to save the few of them that are left. So prepare yourself for a lot of screaming, crying, and some moments that are so beautiful they will make your heart burst! I'm very excited (and a little scared) to find out what happens next!

Too short but I loved it anyway...especially since there will be another book! So can't wait for that to come out. As soon as I started Chaos I was sucked into the second book of the series. We learn about new demons and meet new characters. Abby and Max grow closer in their relationship and it seemed like Carter might get a new love interest in one of the new characters but I don't want to give a whole lot away. Around the ending to Chaos Carter tells Abby what he believes he has discovered to stop the demons from entering the earth and it leaves you wondering what this band of survivors are going to do in the next book Vengeance

So I'm reading through the start of the novel and I was thinking how awesome it was because it starts off right after the last one, pretty close to no gap what so ever. Then we get to the middle and I'm like holy crap these characters are luckier than all sin because despite the odds they are still alive and haven't suffered massive loss. Then I get to the end and Max is dead and I'm thinking, gosh, not Max. Then all of a sudden Grant is dead and I'm like holy crap, the author just killed off two guys of handsomeland. Then all of a sudden Max is alive. I was like phew, crisis adverted. It was pretty good for the second installment of the series.

I have some positives and some negatives to say about this book, so I'll start with the positives:

This story is really unique and engaging. I still really love all the characters, and the story is told in a very logical sequence of events. Very little, if anything, feels contrived. Everyone is evolving in this world of demons and fighting for survival. Can't wait for the next installment!

That said, I cannot stress enough the need for independently published authors to HIRE A COPY EDITOR!! This is one of the better indie books I've read, but the constant typos and grammar mistakes make me want to tear my hair out. I experienced the same problems with the first book in this series. But please, indie authors, use the money you save by self-publishing by hiring a copy editor. Sometimes I thought this novel could have used another round of story editing, but I have read worse, so that didn't bother me as much as the grammar mistakes, and sentences that came out really awkward. These are things that are easily fixed, and this is what copy editors do. So please, this is a message to every indie author reading this review - get a copy editor, no matter how good you think you are with grammar and spelling and correct word choice. And, if nothing else, learn the differences between your & you're, their, they're, & there.

I'm sorry to be the grammar nazi, but I have encountered these problems with indie authors WAY more than traditional publishing, and correct grammar does nothing but make your story, and your writing, better. Make the extra effort. Please.

Finally I get to finish book 2 of this series. It's been almost 2 years since I read book 1 and I barely remember what happens but I do remember liking it.

I think because of the time gap I took for me to read the sequel made me like the series less. It's probably because my genre has evolved passed young adult.

Chaos is a good book. It's sad, dark, thrilling, scary but had a bit of humor to it. It's a perfect combo is a great apocalyptic/dystopian book. This book has been on my shelf for so long and the only reason why I picked it up was to get it over it. It wasn't until I read the first chapter that got me excited all over again for the series. But was I got to the middle and ending of the book, I felt kind of drained and depressed, as if what had happened in the book was actually happening, until I realized that it wasn't. Thank goodness.

The details of the demons and fight scene was impeccable. They were clear, straight forward and very easy to picture. Usually the reader has a hard time picturing creatures that they read the sentence more than 10 times to understand. I love how this book was so simple and straight forward.

Chaos is a great sequel to Released(Book 1). It's an easy, fast paced, thrilling, and very exciting read. It's a recommend series to those who enjoy getting sucked into the dystopian world and reading about the mysterious demonic creatures that took over the world.

I'm so happy this book isn't about zombies. XD

Megan's one of my favorite authors for fun dystopian novels. Oxymoron, right? Not really. These are the kind of books that show a deep, dark future yet are easy enough to read at the beach or in a weekend. Chaos did not disappoint in the action and doom and gloom of a future populated by demons.

I liked the book overall. The action was great, Megan is brilliant as always at painting a scene in words on a page so that you feel like you're part of the cadre of humans trying to make it in a future where they are a minority species.

What I didn't like? There's one element of the story that seems formulaic here, and that's Max. Our heroine has to fall in love, lose the love, and then she becomes a strong female. Abby is awesome without this formula element, and I honestly think the story could have done without it. Maybe I'm just growing less tolerant of romance in these stories, but it takes so much to do them well, and I don't think Megan had enough pages to get through a romance in the midst of so much action.

It's a minor quibble, though. That's why I'm still rating this a 4 out of 5. If I could do 4.75 I would :-)

This book was crazy good. It gave me the hibbie jibbies a couple times too. I loved the new characters that were brought in. Abby and Max are still a couple and they take advantage of every opportunity to kiss because they may not get to again. I love the way Abby takes charge of any situation and is always taking care of others. Its hard to think of her as a teenager. And this book is not the end of the series.

Fast paced and written quite nicely. My only drawback is that there are questions left unanswered. Questions that seem they should have answered in this book rather than forcing it unto another. I still look forward to the next book.
