I started this series, so I feel like I need to finish it. I like the setting, the mystery, characters. It is just not a page turner for me. I do like the author N.C Allen and her writing style. I like reading her other books. I really like the character of Isabelle Webb. she encounters some hard things in this book. Facing and accepting her past.

This story picks up right where we left of in book one; well I guess it’s a little later. It picks up when Isabelle reaches Egypt in search of the girls. Once reunited they join up on an expedition with Isabelle’s former guardian Genevieve. I enjoyed this installment, it reminded me a bit of the move The Mummy. I love the setting and imagining digging through old pyramids. Isabelle was her usual adventurous self. I really like her character and how she is independent and yet also really loyal to those around her. I did wish we had a little more James time; he seems to be a little out of the picture this time around. The book ends with quite the cliff hanger and I can’t wait to see what happens next! Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for the third book to come out. This is a fun series, one I would recommend to anyone who enjoys History and Romance with a lot of Adventure!

There were elements of this story that I quite enjoyed. I found the locations and the excavation process quite interesting. A few of the new characters I really liked, and seeing how the previous characters have progressed is also enjoyable. I struggled a bit with some of the allowances made for the "bad guy" to get away with all that he did. I felt that connections should have been made, or more blunt questions asked to get behind all of the mishaps and attacks going on at the camp. I also missed the more frequent interactions between Isabelle and James that were in the first book. James played a rather minor role in this volume. There were a few major revelations that added another element to this series, which was fun. I'm still quite interested in solving this mystery of the jewels and the birthmarks. I look forward to reading the third and final book of the series next.

I love Ms. Allen as a writer and I enjoyed the first book in the series. Unfortunately, this book didn't grab me as much as the first book did. It had all the elements I enjoy mystery, an Egyptian archaeological dig, powerful jewels, and an international secret society that will stop at nothing to find the missing jewels. Sounds great, right? For some reason, I was bored. I'm not sure why. I guess I got a little tired of Isabelle constantly questioning her feelings. I can understand why, but it got old. It also seemed to take forever for the plot to unwind. I'll definitely read the next book in the series and hopefully it will redeem the series for me.

Hmmm, this is still a fun little book in a fun series but this middle one wasn't as good as the first. I liked it because it was set in Egypt and felt similar to my beloved Amelia Peabody series (felt pretty derivative of that, actually) but this one really suffered in comparison. The series plot moves along but on the whole, this one felt a little bit rushed.

This is the second in a series that must be read in order and all three books in the series must be read to get any resolution. James drove me nuts. His chauvinistic stupidity caused no end of problems. The story was, however interesting and kept me engaged. Other than many eye roll moments throughout it was a good book.

I enjoyed this book add much as I did tne first in the series. But I wonder if is Gabe understood this of I hadn't read the first. This story takes off right where the first ends and sets up for the final in the trilogy. I'm not sure how well it does as a stand alone.

An interesting continuation of the story. The romance is definitely still a bit much and I don't like that all the female characters have to be paired off with a man but I like the plot. It's clear the author hasn't been to the places she's describing though which leaves a little something missing.

I really like the story and most of the characters-The main character, Isabella, bugs me for some reason. I guess I feel like a hardened spy cries way too much.

I didn't realize when I started reading this book that it was book 2 in a trilogy. But it was a great book. An easy read and fun story.

Exciting story and well put together. I have seen a few details that are inconsistent but other than that, I enjoyed it.

Allens first book "Legend of the Jewel", was just a set up to wet your appetite. This book made me drool. Within it's pages lies intrigue, murder, touch of romance, plotting, whit, legend, jealousy, mummies, secrets, and a disgraced daughter? Is she, or isn't she? Allen writes a tale that I have never see coming! With all of my experience with books and analyzing them I usually know what is coming. But this one was such a sweet surprise. So far only Allen could weave such a master story.

She writs in a language that is formal, in which is appropriate for the time that is set in. Some characters are stronger then others. I would like to see The French mans character play a bigger role, the same with Phillip and Sally. I didn't feel that their characters are as strong developed as I'd like them to be. Still, I have loved the characters in the books. I hated the ones that you are supposed to hate and loved the rest. Now much is expected for the next book.

This was a fun read. There's so much historical fiction out there that it's nice to see an author try something new with it. It's like she stirred a few historical characters in a pot just to see what came out. The intrigue added to the depth of the story and the suspense.

I have only one complaint. James is too thoroughly versed on the inner thoughts of a woman not to have been married before. A broken engagement is alluded to, but no man learns that much about women without having been tutored through marriage. Honestly, I'm a little tired of this archetypal character - the handsome man who can guess your every thought and every woman swoons over. It's a little much, and I'd rather the heroine fell in love with a real man, not one pulled out of a bodice-ripping romance.

That's a minor issue, though, and I would still recommend this book to anyone looking for great read for a lazy day.

Isabelle Webb is a former Pinkerton Spy who finds herself traveling from India to Egypt to recover her teenage ward and another girl that was abducted. She's traveling with James (her suitor) and his brother Phillip. When they arrive in Suez they find Genevieve Montgomery, Isabelle's benefactress from her youth. She has been in contact with the missing girls, and they all join up together for an expedition.

The legend of powerful jewels causes mystery, intrigue, and danger on the expedition.

This is my first Isabelle Webb novel. At times I felt that it would have been helpful to have read the other novels for backstory and some clarification on characters.

I was reminded somewhat of the Amelia Peabody mysteries, although I wasn't as drawn to this as to those.

Although the story premise was great, the book starts slowly. I liked the story, but she wasn't subtle enough for me. I had figured out who Isabelle Webb really was. Anyone can by paying close attention to what they're reading.

I did not know about and therefore have not read the first Webb story. And from the way it ended I am sure there is a third one coming. I will need to get the first one before the second one.

It is worth reading, just take into account that it's a little slow in the beginning. Once you get to about page 60 or so you're fine. Just keep reading.

There is murder, attempted murder, attempted kidnapping and lots of love and hatred. Enjoy yourself.

A group of people from all around the world with interest in the Jewel of Zeus are determined to get their hands on it, by any means necessary. Meanwhile, Isabelle Webb arrives in Egypt and meets up with a couple of girls who were kidnapped (I think? this is where reading the first book would have been good) and they all go with an old friend on an expedition to a previously unexplored burial site. Tension rises as the site gains importance and as the jewel-hunters get closer to their prize.

This was good, and I didn't feel totally lost, but I think I need to go back and read the first one.

This is a sequel to Legend of the Jewel. It looks like there will be one more book after this. The story completed itself enough that I was satisfied at the end and can wait to read the next book. I just love these characters. I liked Isabelle in the Faith of our Fathers series and she is staying true to character. The love story is so sweet and fun to read and the story a fun mystery. These books are for everyone who like a clean romance and a good mystery. Just love anything by this author she never disappoints me.

I listened to this book while driving from Owasso to Rolla. It was a pretty good book, but seemed a little shallow. I didn't feel like I was into the characters enough to care about the outcome. Maybe it was because this was not the first book about the spy Isabelle Webb, but it was the first time I had ever been introduced to her. I felt like she was portrayed as a little too much of a misfit in her time period and setting to be believeable. Overall, it was a good story and I liked the idea it was in an unusual setting.

I liked this book. It's a little reminiscent of Elizabeth Peter's Amelia Peabody series (which I love). It's the second book in the series, and I think you really need to read Legend of the Jewel first.

I really enjoyed this because it's a fun mystery, there are dead bodies but no gore, a little spooky Egyptian curse stuff, a jewel with powers, and just enough romance to satisfy me without making me gag. It's a clean, easy read and makes for an entertaining afternoon (or two).

There will definitely be a third book in this series. Looking forward to it.

Isabelle Webb goes to Egypt to find Sally and Alice. James and Philip Ashby accompany her. They meet up with Genevieve who is Isabelle's benefactress. They go up the Nile to near the Valley of the Kings to do some excavating. More is learned about the Jewel of Zeus and craziness goes on. Introduce a powerful group called the Federation. Sparks causes more problems. Story ends without settling many of the questions.

(Genre:LDS fiction/historical/mystery) I have a hard time classifying this book. The library has them catalogued under mystery, but they also have some romance and some "Indiana Jones" style adventure. This is the 2nd book in the series and the adventure is left open for the next installment. In this book, female spy Isabelle Webb and entourage are in Eygpt, chasing down another famed jewel with supposed magical properties. A fun, light read.

The second in a series and by now you know my opinion of series. Isabelle Webb, former Pinkerton spy, and her friends follow her kidnapped ward to Egypt where they instantly reunite. Deciding that they can't leave Egypt without enjoying it they join Isabelle's old sponsor in an expedition to dig in the burial sites. (They have permission.) Danger, birthmarks that itch, curses and jewels. Oh my.

Isabelle Webb Is in pursuit of a ship carrying two young women. This installment of the series picks right up where the first one left off. Full of adventure, suspense, mystery, and some romance, this novel is sure to please.

I loved exploring Egypt alongside Isabelle. My imagination was working overtime. I still think it's great that she such a strong female character, considering she's living in 1865.

I didn't realize this was the second book in a series when I began reading The Pharaoh's Daughter, so there were some things that confused me at the start, but I got them straightened out and did end up enjoying this book. I would definitely recommend you begin with the first book, Isabelle Webb: Legend of the Jewel before you read this one, though.

Good book, pretty much no romance whatsoever. I'm not sure which book I like better, the first or second. This book started out good, got a little slow in the middle and then picked up again. It was fun to imagine being on a real expedition in Egypt. Completely clean. I didn't realize however, that there will be a third book. I was hoping to be reading a series where they are all out. Boo!!

Gratefully, Isabelle reunites with Alice and Sally in Cairo. James goes with her--he's not going home without Isabelle. Not only that, Genevieve Montgomery (the woman that raised Isabelle) is waiting for her at the pier. An interesting coincidence so Isabelle joins Genevieve on an archeological expedition in order to learn why. The story is exciting--there's danger, superstitions, and ultimately Isabelle's acceptance of James's marriage proposal.
