Goodreads 2012 By the Numbers: An Infographic
It's been a big year for Goodreads. Not only did we double in size—from 6.5 million members to more than 13 million—we saw our members pass a major milestone: 20 million reviews written. To celebrate, we thought it would be fun to look back at some of the big books and events from the year on Goodreads. What were the most-reviewed books? What books did book clubs love? Who were the quotable authors? Our year-in-review infographic has all this and more!

Guys, I think you wanted to say "Felicia Day's Vaginal Fantasy"...
flag
I've been here since 2008, and I've loved seeing the growth. It validates what i knew back then, that this place is the ultimate home for book aficionados. I've made some great friendships, discovered some amazing authors, and reviewed nearly 500 books as a result. Congrats to all of your success.
"reviewers" is spelled wrong ("v" and "i" transposed) in the last header regarding the selection of popular reviewers of the year.
Congrats Goodreads! Good to see the community growing. :) I put "Gone Girl" on hold at my local library!

!! on my to-read-soon shelf now
Personally, I've tired to read my books and magazines on one of the electronic devices..... It just did not feel right. So now I am back to holding and actually smelling the ink!!!!!
Congratulations Goodreads ... I love this website, it is amazing, fun, and intellectual, and quite addictive. Kudos to all involved.
Awesome!!! Doubling your membership this year :). It's nice to know that so many people read and so many different subjects and genres. It really does "take you away" to a different place for a while and so relaxing!
I was impresed to se that Junot Diaz was one of the most populat author interviewed, that is great to know since I am from DR, it makes me feel proud to know that.
I'm guessing that's why the site was funky alot this year....the immense growth. Actually I thought that might be the case. It's nice to have it confirmed. It's a great website. I only have three websites I check every day...Facebook, Pinterest and Goodreads. So thanks.
Bill wrote: "misinfographic: the ratio of the areas of the circles is NOT 6.5:13"Exactly what I was gonna comment! If you're going to include images, please make them accurate. Anyway, 6.5 to 13 million is still an impressive jump, without having to make it look bigger.
I've been here since 2008! 4 years!I couldn't even believe it till I double checked my profile. I'm awfully proud of this little (now huge, I believe) community and I hope it continues to flourish.
FYI Private Company Financial Report: Goodreads found here (from PrivCo....looks like Goodreads is growing, hiring, raising venture capital money. Life is good!)http://www.privco.com/private-company...
Great graphic! Has anyone actually read all 23 thousand reviews of Gone Girl? Let me throw in another one: "great until the last twenty pages".

But the kindle gives me freedom from storing books, taking them back to the library etc. I never thought I would be a techie reader as I am a book nut. Btw I pine for a trip to the library it is way overdue.
I'm a little dismayed to find out that the Dealbreakers list exists, and more so to learn that it's popular - yes, by all means, let's each do our individual part to increase the divisions between us, rather than getting to know one another. Let's do everything we can to perpetuate confirmation bias and isolation. /sarcasmI know someone's going to say "Why waste the time getting to know someone who likes that book?" I'd say, "Why do you assume that someone who likes that book is a waste of your time?"
I've never read Twilight (top of that list at the time of this writing), and it's probable that I never will, but that doesn't mean that someone who likes it might not have other wonderful characteristics. He or she might make fantastic pickles, or have a great singing voice, or something else entirely.
Lighten up, you're thinking? Sure. I can get that hatred of Twilight is sort of hatred in jest, more of the eye-rolling sort, but what about those who have voted for political books? That seems pretty serious to me, given the partisan divide in the US. How is it a good thing for us to stop listening to one another?
That's a list on which I'll never vote. I prefer to focus on what we have in common - things that unite us. And even if you've voted on that list, or support it, I'm glad to meet you -- it's not a "dealbreaker" for me. We might not have that list in common, but it's possible we have something else that qualifies as common ground. :)
Congratulations Goodreads ... I love this website, it is amazing, fun, and intellectual, and quite addictive. Kudos to all involved. 2014
