Interview with Author – Charles Frankhauser

Author Bio:

Charles Frankhauser started writing fiction about 15 years ago as a typing exercise after years of not using that skill. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and served more than 4 continuous years at sea first on a surface ship then aboard a diesel-electric submarine. Some of his boyhood adventures are adapted into the storyline in the first Chapter of Atlantic City Nazi, an historical fiction published on Amazon. He presents actual experiences in the memoir, Miss Williams, in an attempt to emphasize the importance of pursuing education as a primary goal in life.

What inspires you to write?

The desire to create entertainment for readers is an inspiration for writing fiction and nonfiction.

Tell us about your writing process.

I write manuscripts based on locales visited, persons encountered, and situations that might result from a combination of the characters’ interactions with others. I am a “seat of the pants writer.”

For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?

I try to imagine that I’m that character if the character is the protagonist.

What advice would you give other writers?

Keep writing, think about the logical interactions in the storyline, and refine the storyline numerous times until satisfied with the result is my advice.

How did you decide how to publish your books?

All four of my works are in paperback and on kindle. The support from Amazon is great.

What do you think about the future of book publishing?

Publishing is going to stay in the electronic era.

What genres do you write?

humor, thriller, historical fiction, memoir

What formats are your books in?

Both eBook and Print
