Divinity The Gathering Book One by Susan Reid
When judgment day comes where will you be? What would you do? For the dark ones it is a new beginning, for all others it is an ending. Fight, be enslaved or perish, there are no other options….trust me, I know—Starling Marie Roberts 3rd Tier Divine Warrior.
There are select chosen, marked from birth yet free to choose light or dark who are pre- destined to stop that from happening. College Sophomore Starling Roberts has always been able to see things beyond our plane of existence, shadows, dark spirits and even angels. Starling contemplates her current humdrum life and purpose since losing both of her parents during Hurricane Katrina several years prior and eventually her grandmother, the last living relative who was also gifted and who understood her ability and gift to see these shadows ever since she was a child. She is continuously bombarded with vivid dreams about the Apocalypse and the events surrounding end of the world, more so because the demons, fallen Angels and shadows all seem to be looking for her. For what purpose past just killing her already… she has yet to find out.

How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
I tend to try and add a small sense of realism or popular beliefs most people get, think about or have heard of into the story and shake it all up with humor —and of course what’s any story without a bit of romance on some level? I want readers to feel not just connected to characters but to ponder ideas and the possibilities. Even though I specialize in supernatural fantasy and urban fantasy, I want it to feel as much both entertaining and fascinating as well as thought provoking. Reading is an escape and creating a world with even a small hint of believability while keeping it interesting, suspenseful and page turning is what I try to aim for.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Never stop writing even if its a sentence and never throw anything away. Keep a dream diary next to the bed and write everything down, especially if you found the dream strange. Life itself is an experience, observe surroundings, people, things and events…there’s always a story in all of those things.
Author Bio:
Hello there!
My name is Susan Reid and I residing in good old Texas…the friendly state!
Divinity the Gathering Book One is my first book, the first of four in the saga. I’ve been writing for years but this is the first time I’ve decided to publish and I am both nervous and excited that I finally got the nerve to do it! I love to read in my spare time, substituting books for television. In my spare time I love to cook, bake, paint and anything that involves arts and crafts. Thai food is my specialty since I am genetically partial to it. I do work a full time job in law enforcement support to support my writing habit and when I’m don’t have my nose buried in a book or my novels in progress I love spending time with and simply being with my two kiddos!
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
The Divinity Saga actually came about from a recurring dream that kept resurfacing every so few months until I finally wrote it down. Once I finished, I looked at the entire page I had written and immediately saw a story there. From that point, the main character Starling was created and the story centered around her and the dream. I’ve always kept a dream journal. Like many authors, some of the best concoctions of our imaginations are derived from them.
