Interview with Author – CS Patra

Author Bio:

Since I was young, I have always wanted to write and have been told that I have a big imagination. Even in reality, I can find myself daydreaming. It wasn’t until I was about 18 that I started to take it seriously however. At 18, I knew this is what I wanted to focus on. I’ve gone through and written many things, some under a pen name and others under my actual one. I don’t know what’s next in terms of writing and publishing; but I do know that it’s something I cannot wait to see.

What inspires you to write?

So many things out there inspire me; family, friends, the weather, current events, etc. Basically, ideas and inspiration can pop out anywhere!

Tell us about your writing process.

I think I’m one of those writers that just finds the idea and goes with it. It usually doesn’t take me very long to come up with something. The hard part is finding the time to do it! But I will get a chance to sit at my desktop, usually at night cause that’s when it’s quiet, and write for a while. Sometimes I will write for a long period of time. Sometimes, I can only get a few words. But I do try to write everyday (the rare occasion I don’t are usually when I am traveling/nowhere near a computer/etc). Once in a while, I might do a character sketch before I start but even that’s a rare occasion. They usually happen as I am writing. Basically, for me, it’s an adventure; I go wherever it takes me.

For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?

I do listen and sometimes talk (in my head though it might slip out in reality) to my characters. I find them fascinating and more interesting. Their thoughts and ideas help create and shape some of mine. I think that without input from them, the stories don’t go where they should.

What advice would you give other writers?

Just to take the plunge. You think you have a story to tell? Write it and let the world know.

How did you decide how to publish your books?

I started with traditional publishing but I wasn’t satisfied with my results. I went with self-publishing after hearing about a co-worker talk about how great it was. I do eventually want to go back to traditional publishing again. I’d tell new authors to try whatever you can, think wisely about what you’re doing, think about your audience, and above all, make the best decision for you.

What do you think about the future of book publishing?

I think we’ll still have print books as well as e-books out in the future. I would hate to see print books go obsolete (I just love the feel and smell of a new book) and I would love more options for people to get into reading. Basically, anything that gets anyone to read is okay with me.

What do you use?

Professional Editor, Professional Cover Designer

What genres do you write?

Romance, poetry, childrens, mystery, suspense, supernatural, fiction

What formats are your books in?

eBook, Print, Both eBook and Print
