The Next Big Thing

I was sent this by Maria Savva - gee thanks, Maria, I have so much time :)

Fun though, and an interesting challenge, which helped me focus too. Or am I the only one who feels like a headless chicken sometimes?

I've answered on here and I'll post to my website when I can.

The rules of the challenge are:

1. Answer 10 questions about my current WIP (Work-In-Progress)
2. Tag five other writers and link their blogs so we can all hop over and read their answers.

The questions are:

1. What is the working title of your book?
2. Where did the idea come from for the book?
3. What genre does your book fall under?
4. Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
5. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
6. Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
7. How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
8. What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
9. Who or What inspired you to write this book?
10. What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

1) I have two WIPs at the moment but I'll just talk about one of them, which is called: 13. Not a working title, it's one that came to me in a dream and I won't change it.

2) The title came through a dream, and the substance had been rattling around my head for quite some time.

3) Like Maria, putting my work into a pigeon-hole is not easy. If I had to choose one, it'd be horror, though it's a dark psychological thriller, fantasy and maybe other things as it grows. The characters will lead me. It's in short story format but they are linked - again, not easy to pinpoint.

4) There will be many characters, but I'd like Johnny Depp to be one of them (who wouldn't). I would put a photo here but I still haven't worked out how to do it.

5) How will thy be judged?

6) Self-published. Although if I were to be offered a million pound deal...

7) I'm still writing the first draft.

8) None. I like to be as original as possible. Having said that, everything I read, see etc. influences my decisions /writing. I especially like fantasy, psychological and intelligent stories - ones that challenge thinking.

9) Me. My weird brain, which comes even more to life in dreams.

10) It's going to be dark and mysterious, and, I hope, explore why people [secret] and the repercussions.
