Thanks for that Peter. Its good to know someone likes my books.
I'll probably get back to writing as soon as my arthritis allows.
Cheers, Greg.

I just discovered your books and polished off Maverick as quickly as I could. I found it to be a very enjoyable read! I'm off to consume Of Dark Elves and Dragons next, since I enjoyed Maverick so much.
I agree with Peter's comment above that you can't possibly write a review of a book after only four pages. And if you're going to write a critical review, especially with that guy's tone, you should at least cite some examples. Also I'd like to point out that the guy didn't have to buy the book outright - he could have tried the sample, decided it wasn't for him and moved on. I think the guy is just a jerk and you shouldn't let it get to you.
Finally, a few typos are not the end of the world. I typically find at least a couple mistakes in most books I read, even ones that have expensive editors working on them. Mistakes happen and can slip through, no matter how diligent the editing. That's no reason for the reader to get so worked up over it.
I hope your health improves and you can work on a few more novels. I've enjoyed what I've read so far and would hate to see you end it due to a small-minded obnoxious person.
Best of luck!
Sean
The last paragraph of your post is the reason why, no matter how much I dislike a book, I never post a negative review. It may not work for me but it could be life changing for other people and as you point out above, someone has spent a great deal of time and effort writing it, reading it, re-writing it....etc.; and of course, agonising over reader reaction.
I have read both Maverick and Of Elves and Dragons and thoroughly enjoyed both of them.
I understand if you have to stop writing due to health issues but I hope that one positive post from a complete stranger will help to balance an unpleasant negative review from another. I understand that it is easy to focus on that one bad review but I am sure you have noticed that there are also several very good reviews of Maverick. It would be a shame if you let one individual spoil your writing for the rest of us; especially as it wasn't really a review. You cannot review a book having read only four pages. You can dislike it and decide that it is not for you, but you cannot write a proper review of it.
So, having said that, I hope that it will not be too long before you decide to get back to the keyboard again and I will look forward to seeing more of your books in the future.
All the best
Peter
