5 Days! What the what?!

Bobby Sky: Boy Band or Die - the companion/prequel/sequel to I Become Shadow comes out in five days! Holy heck that snuck up on me. It will be available wherever you lovingly buy your books and it can be preordered too.

I know I'm biased, I wrote it, but it's one helluva an entertaining read. Grab a copy, find a nice place to sit (your reading couch, in a park, by the beach, etc) and just have fun with it.

Can't wait to hear what everyone thinks of it. And by this I mean only the positive stuff, the negative stuff cuts me to my soul. :-)

I'll have a blog post on Barnes and Noble going up soon too. I'll let everyone know when it's there.

In...the...CAN!

Happy to report Book 2 is in the can! Done! Finished! The Ended! Stamped and in the mail!

Feels great and I'm excited to finally get the next chapter in the story out there for everyone.

Fingers crossed my publisher doesn't call me, take a deep breath, and mutter, "It's terrible" before quickly hanging up and never calling be back. (always a fear of mine)

Tentative Title:

A Shadow of F.A.T.E.

Until then everyone....

Eureka! Book 2! Book 2!

(papers tossed into the air in celebration while strangers look at you confused)

Yesterday I finally made my mark on a contract to write a second I Become Shadow book! Very exciting. Not gonna lie, I was starting to worry it might never happen. But it has and it is. Now I guess I actually have to write it...yikes.

Updates! (YALSA, movies, newspapers)

Hey everyone! Hope Halloween was candy-filled and let's hear it for the cool fall air finally knocking summer back into place. Got some updates for you all.

First, and most important, still no word on a sequel to Shadow or a movie yet. I know, I know, but I'm as antsy as y'all for some news, so I get it. BUT, something did happen that will hopefully tip the scales in our favor. A couple weeks ago it was announced that I Become Shadow was voted number 2 on the 2015 YALSA Teen Top 10! Heck yes! and thank you all for voting (even if you didn't, just nod and tell me you did I'll never know). It's a very humbling and exciting list to be on. The full link can be found here: http://www.ala.org/yalsa/teenstopten

Second, I was in the paper. Like the actual paper. There's something surreal about seeing your face and a story about you in a real-life newspaper.

Look, I'm not too cool to admit a few things. Being a published author is one of them. Anyone who ho-hums it or tries to play it off as nothing is lying to you- it's awesome. So when new, exciting things happen like the stuff above, I don't know how to handle them. I'm already full to bursting with pride thanks to simply being published that when something else happens I just sort of go all wide-eyed and nod a lot while muttering, 'cool, cool'.

Anyway, have a great week!

Movie time?

Great news my fips! I am happy to announce that I have signed a shopping agreement with Josephson Entertainment with the aim to make SHADOW into a movie! We're a long, winding road from anything concrete, but it's a great step in the right direction. More news when I have it.

New Book (not a Shadow sequel)

Just a quick update and an apology. I’m admittedly terrible at this so I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to post something new. Y’all are busy, hardworking folks, so I convinced myself to wait until I had something relatively important to say. Whether that’s just me being lazy or true is up for debate. First, and most important, still no word on a Shadow sequel, but no news is good news. Not having an answer is better than a straight ‘no’, right? The paperback comes out in a couple weeks and I’ve been told it all hinges on how that goes. Most people seem to think it will do well, let’s hope their right. Fingers double and triple crossed. The main reason though for this post is that I’ve finally finished a new novel. It’s currently in the hands of my publisher and I should hopefully hear back on it anytime now. Stay tuned for updates, I promise to post more often when I have more news. Happy Friday!

New Book Hints:
Four teenagers (one of whom is not entirely like the others)
Adventure in the streets of Austin, TX
Some old school gunslingers.

Firs Time Jitters

So last week I got to experience the amazing high of signing my book for complete strangers. Yeah, they were only ARCs but I’m still counting it as legit. Of course it wasn’t all rainbows and lollipops. When the first person approached me and asked for a signature I just sort of stared back at them. My gut reaction was to say, “Why?”, but I kept my cool. Sort of. I first tried to sign the cover. Black Sharpie signing a mostly black cover, yeah, that woulda shown up... Special thanks to my publicists for stepping in and guiding me away from such a rookie move. It all went smoothly after that, unless you count that one time I forgot my own signature and just scribbled nonsense. If this was you, please accept this formal apology. Come find me and I’ll redo it, proper style. Anyway, not sure how long this post can or should be so I’ll end it here.

More to come.
-Joe
