Yet another fabulous review from Su Halfwerk.

Mantequero by Jenny Twist: 5 stars
Happiness is found through the most outrageous methods and in the oddest of ways. June, overweight and she knows it, has given up on meeting prince charming. She could never be like her sisters, but I have a feeling by the end of the tale she got what she really needed. A well written, thought provoking story…the author went at it from an unexpected (and sweet in it's own way) angle.

You can read the whole review here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Thanks, Su. You're the greatest

Hi everybody. Here is the latest 5 star review for Curious Hearts:
Su Halfwerk's review:
This is a review of Doppelganger from Curious Hearts anthology:
Doppelganger is about making the right choice when it comes to matters of the heart. This tale gives hope.
Like I mentioned in my previous reviews, Jenny Twist has the ability to draw you right in and keep you there. I connected with Christine, even found myself glancing at my toes as I read the first few paragraphs. Christine's reasoning and actions were drawn well with tight writing style. Even at the end, Christine's choice made total sense.
I hoped to see more of what she'd do to reach her goal, but you know what? I think the story ended at the right spot, allowing me the option to imagine and insert my own plan of action if I were Christine.
Another great tale by Jenny Twist.

I am SO delighted to get such a wonderful review from such a great writer!
Thank you, Su

I have been given the beautiful blogger award. As far as I can tell, there is no money in it, but I have no objection to being called beautiful.
Thank you to the even more beautiful Tara Fox Hall for the nomination! http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...

So, this is what happens when you are nominated:

You write seven facts about yourself
You link to the blog of the person who nominated you
You link to seven bloggers whom you think deserve the award and let them know they have been nominated
Simple!

:

7 Facts:
1. I come from a theatrical family and was at one time an escapologist's assistant – The Lovely Tanya. (All Tommy James's assistants, and there were many, were called The Lovely Tanya. That way he didn't ever have to change the advertising.

2. My husband is the best chef in the known universe and I fell in love with him the first time I saw him with a wok in one hand and a saucepan in the other.

3. For many years my friend Caroline and I ran a music club in Oxford and at Christmas we put on a special show which always included a Victorian Melodrama.

4. My friend, Nic Hooper, (I am very proud of this) wrote the music for the first two Harry Potter films.

5. I am a compulsive knitter and if I find a willing victim I will knit for them until they beg me to stop.

6. I firmly believe that dieting makes you fat and chocolate is essential for maintaining radiant good health.

7. The definition of a gentleman, in my opinion, is somebody who knows how to play the piano-accordian – and doesn't.

Now, here are my nominees: Lynette Sofras, Paula Martin, Lindsay Townsend, T D Jones, Molly Allman, Mila Ramos and Brenda Whiteside

My friend Caroline has entered her picture in a local art competition. If you look closely you can just see the green man peeping out through the foliage. I'd be so grateful if you'd help her win by voting for her

I am so delighted with this review from Rochelle's Reviews.

This book was engaging and entertaining as well as informative, but I kept forgetting the time period. No one in the town had indoor plumbing or cars.  When Guillermo the mayor turned up with a car, I pictured something from the early twentieth century; not post World War II.  I guess I was pretty spoiled growing up in Chicago in a house with electricity, a television, and two cars.  I didn’t realize the kind of poverty other people endured, even though I had relatives in the country who still had outhouses.

At any rate, the characters in Domingo’s Angel hooked me, especially the irrepressible Rosalba, through whom we learn most of the history of the town as Generalissimo Franco takes over and kills or conscripts an entire generation of men, plundering, raping, and plunging the town into poverty and starvation “for the good of the people.”  Yet, when Angela arrives she finds the people celebrating their festivals and life going on as though it had never been disturbed.  She finds warmth and humor and happiness and she shares it with us.  Domingo’s Angel is has its dark side, but in the end, it’s a feel-good read.

Thank you so much, Rochelle
