Crazy Murders

A Molly Tinker Mystery due out Summer of 2015

"Good morning," Deputy Police Chief Willie Monroe said. "I need your shovel and the shed's locked."
"I have the key," Molly Tinker said. "What's in the box?"
"A dead squirrel. I found it on my front porch."
"That's the fourth dead thing this week. Soon you're going to find something dead on the couch in your living room."
"Don't joke," Willie said.

Crazy Murders ( June 2015)

"What's up?" Molly said.
Deputy Willie Monroe was digging a hole in the dirt around an evergreen tree, and Molly was positive that digging a hole at Pond Park was against park policy.
"I need to bury something."
Willie opened a shoe box and took out a very dead parakeet.
"Isn't that the second thing you've found dead this week?"
"Yes," Willie said. "I found a dead squirrel on my front porch a couple of days ago."
"Just don't find a dead body sitting in your living room."
"Don't joke," Willie said.
Don't worry," Molly said. "Things die all the time."

Murder on Vacation

Art got out of his Buick and opened the trunk and reached for something that looked like a box of extra-large garbage bags.

"This doesn't look good," I said. "There are already three missing women,all presumed dead."

"Art just jumped on board his yacht," Deputy Stillwell said. "It looks like he's heading to the Gulf of Mexico."

"We're supposed to be tailing him."

"Forget it, Molly. We can't swim fast enough to catch up to his boat."

"I'm good at convincing people to do things," Ted said. "It's part of my job description."
"Would it be easy for you to ask around town about Art? Discreetly?"
"What do you want to know?"
"Anything you can come up with."
"Women I know talk to me about Art," Ted said. "I could ask them to give me more detail."
"You wouldn't be embarrassed?"
"Once you've seen a person naked, you can ask them almost anything."

"Are you a cop?"
"Kind of," I said. "I'm looking for my friend, Ellen."
"Either dead or alive?"
"Yes."
"I've never done anything against the law," Ted said.
I smiled.
"Going to bed with a married woman is a far cry from murder."
I smiled again.
"I guess you're not going to come see me some evening?"
"My husband is a very sexy man."

Is Molly cheating on her husband on Vacation

"Do you use one of the rooms by the hour?"
"I don't need to borrow a room," Ted said, assistant manager at the Sheraton. "I live here."
"So I could spend the entire night with you," Molly said.
"What about tonight?"
"Let me think of a good lie to tell my husband."
Molly skimmed her finger across Ted's hand and gave him a full-wattage smile.

Murder on Vacation

I pulled up to a ladder hanging off the side of one of the yachts, and I grabbed for it, jumping from my jet ski. I climbed up the rungs until my head popped over the side and I could see the deck.

Unfortunately, the three men standing in front of me, seriously conversing about something, noticed my head.

One of the guys pulled out a black revolver and aimed it at me.

Coming quickly to my senses, I said the only thing a woman in my predicament could say, "Could I use your bathroom?"

A Missed Shot

We jogged side by side until Tinker ran ahead of me into the trees.
A squirrel?
Then I heard a pop.
A gunshot?
Fear crept into my heart, but I plunged into the trees, knowing I'd do anything to safe my dog. I crawled through the forest debris, looking for something white. A tree branch sliced against my face, but I continued to crawl. Then I saw him, bumped up against a log.
He whimpered.
"I'm here," I said.
I grabbed him and rocked him in my arms until he stopped his shaking.
