Dean Harper is the type of doctor anyone would want to bump into in an elevator. He’s devilishly handsome, deeply caring, and has a pair of sapphire blue eyes that pierce right through you. He was well on his way to having the perfect life with who he thought was the perfect man. Well, until he found that ‘perfect’ man cheating on him with three other guys. At the same time.

Noah Silver is having a difficult time. With his mom passing and his dad growing more and more difficult to live with, he’s pushed into an unorthodox way of making money. He knew that being a cam boy would be temporary, but he didn't realize how drastically it would change his life.

He had no idea he would meet the man of his dreams because of it. He also had no idea he would become the target of a serial killer because of it.

Dean’s world gets turned upside down when Noah, the guy he’d been fantasizing with through a computer screen, ends up in his exam room. Their connection is immediate, even though Noah has no idea Dean is behind his online crush. They both have issues to work on, but can either of them pass up a chance like this? Or are they both throwing themselves into harm’s way?

I found this story to be just okay. Not awesome. Not awful.

Both cam boy Dean and doctor Noah were written as damn near perfect, possibly too much so, but that didn't really bother me much.

The one aspect of the book that I did feel was an all-out fail, though, was the serial killer sub-plot. The coincidences required for things to have happened, as written, were off the charts, trillion to one astronomical, which made me completely roll my eyes at the sheer unlikelihood of the connections.

And speaking of eye rolls, as the book got closer and closer to the end, the author started feeling his/her (?) wild oats and *liberally* inserting cornier and cornier jokes, which got 'not cute' very quickly.

The lines were *meant* to be banter, at which the MC's would laugh and laugh at the other's 'wit', but I hate corny, so a bit of eye rolling ensued.

#TriedTooHard / #BanterFail

The sexy bits 'should' have felt way hotter than they actually did, but I found myself wanting to skim through them. I didn't, but was tempted.

So yeah, not awful, not awesome, and around a 3 star read.

*** This is a sexy tale of the Doctor and the Personal trainer/cam-boy. ***
We get more than an easy going story, because there are several things happening here.
Dr. Dean already likes what he sees online

with his favorite cam-boy, but when he comes into the E.R., Dean is star struck.
He's even more good looking in person. Noah was instantly attracted to the beautiful and funny doctor.
Noah gave him his phone number.

It's not instant love here, there are time spans also.
Our guys have great personalities and senses of humor. They are witty, snarky, intelligent, and totally perfect for each other. Dean begins by asking Noah out on some terrifically sweet dates where they get to know each other. When they finally get to it, their sexy times are smokin' ! These two aren't afraid to try anything.

There are issues that escalate with on of cam-boy Noah's fans, and he tells the police. I can't tell you what's going on, but I can tell you the bad guy is a very warped dude....!
So, we get some action, violence and a huge rescue.
This is an interesting story with great flow, and super sexy scenes.
ENJOY !

This book started off with nice, likable characters and a cute doc-camboy romance plot.

It hit a serious bump when the MCs had a full week of phone conversations before their first date, convos the reader weren't privy to. To have those early moments of attraction and love happen off-page wasn't my ideal romance. The dialogue and interaction the rest of the book happens on page, but the story continues to struggle with telling the reader things rather than showing. I'm not a fan of such books, and it made this one bordering on boring.

There were good bits too. The smex was hot and well written, and I loved how the writer used slightly different adjectives and descriptions compared most other romances. It felt fresh. There is a suspense side plot culmination at the end, and even though I'm not a fan of mysteries it did manage to grab my attention.

I have never read anything by Max Walker that wasn't a 5-star worthy story, Code Silver is not an exception. I absolutely loved the two main characters. Noah Silver is a personal trainer. He earns some extra money as a camboy. Dean Harper is an ER doctor. He left a cheating ex after a five-year relationship. You can feel the chemistry between these two guys from the beginning when they first met in the ER. Both have their personal reasons to take it slow and not rush into anything. I liked how they let it build by staring to dating and getting to know one another. There were some self-doubts, but there was also plenty of excitement that comes with any new relationship. Their antics were sometimes funny and sometimes frustrating. Along with the budding romance we also have a mystery. There's a stalker whose intentions are murder. When added to the storyline we now have an intense love story with a twist. I'm on the Code White and Code Red. I know they will be just as good. You can't expect Max Walker to deliver anything less.

I listened to this book before (and during) a flight to the UK, and as always, the narration from Jason Frazier shines. With Frazier's voice, characters spring to life, with vocal quirks and cadence that add vim to even the most mundane of scenes.

Code Silver struck me as an extended meet-cute story; basically, the set-up is listed in the blurb, but it's this: a cam-boy making savings to set up his personal training business, and a doctor who has connected with him online, and a chance encounter puts them both in the position of meeting face-to-face, and having secrets.

Dean, the doctor, can't figure out a way to say he already knows about Noah's online career (and, frankly, thinks it's hot), and Noah's trying to figure out how to broach what he does. Add to that their emotional baggage, and I was worried I was in for a tale where a single sit-down and chat would have resolved all the conflict. But no, it's actually quite a lovely (and and early resolution) and the bulk of the tale is really more about the two getting to know each other, and spending time together, and—of course—a few erotic passages. The romance/meet-cute/evolution of the pair was enjoyable and fun.

However, I'm still not sure about the inclusion of a particular sub-plot: there is a violent serial killer that appears in the story, and it felt a little lost, sudden, and coincidental, and given how it wasn't even remotely mentioned in the blurb it left me wishing I'd known that "full-length, steamy gay romance" was going to include bloody moments. Even just the inclusion of the word "thriller" would have helped adjust my expectations for its inclusion.

Mixed bag of good bits hampered by odd execution

Max Walker knows how to write a great sex scene and there's some smoking hot ones in this one.

Walker's also great with the bones of a story but, unfortunately, there always just seems to be something off that stops them being 5* romances.

In this one it's some odd grammar usage, a side plot of serial killer which just doesn't work at all and a pairing who rush somewhat into romance even with all their previous emotional baggage. Both characters read younger than they were supposed to be as well which helped to add to the overall sense of something just not meshing right.

Still, it's by no means a poor book, there is a great connection between Dean and Noah and there's the usual super sweet epilogue rounding things out.

This book and Audio was really enjoyable. I think Jason Frazier did a great job with the narration and voices of All the characters, not just the main ones, and his voice added to the story sucking you in wanting to just hear more. I think it was a realistic type story, like this could have totally happened.. How Doctor Dylan and Cam Boy/Personal Trainer Noah met, and then when they both came clean with each other about everything and they were able to look past it and make their relationship work, and progress at a natural pace. I NEVER would have guessed who the "Bad Guy" in the story was.. That was a good one, good ending to the story.

The Blogger Girls

This was a really sweet and well written romance between a doctor and his webcam crush slash unexpected patient. Dr. Dean is still recovering from his cheating ex and has basically sworn off men and relationships….but it doesn’t mean he has to give up his guilty pleasure, webcam phenom, Noah. Of course, watching a hot man on camera wank off is supposed to be anonymous…forever, but what can you do when you wet dream ends up in your emergency room? This story was really low angst and very sweet despite the ex who made a huge mistake, ok cheating is a deal breaker, but a part of me still felt bad for him. Unfortunately, Dean was not able to regain the lost trust no matter how much I liked his ex. And that was good news for Noah…

Noah needs money and so wanking on camera sounds easy and safe…until he meets the hottie doctor and starts flirting. Once they begin their little fling, both Dean and Noah need to come clean. Dean needs to admit that he’s watched Noah on the web, and Noah is trying to decide how to break it to Dean that he wanks on the web. They both have secrets, but they need to gather the courage to break the news to the other before they can further their relationship. At the same time, a serial killer is on the loose and is killing off guys who wank online for money. And Noah has caught his attention.

As crazy as it sounds, the bad guy totally surprised me…but I am not 100% sure if the coincidence was totally believable for me. The resolution was very quick and easy, and almost anti-climatic. But, the rest of the story was stellar and didn’t take away from my reading pleasure, and I look forward to seeing where we go with book two.

I am quite sure that I already read this one before but I really enjoyed it .... so no worries.
I enjoyed the relationship development and how the fact that one of the MCs was a cam model did not really factor in the relationship ... the mystery was a side show which was not necessary and a bot underdeveloped
All in all a good read! And I am sure I will read it again

4,5 heart audiobook review by Christian

Noah seems to think he is going nowhere with his life. In his apartment with his mentally and verbally abusive father, he has to get out of there before his father kicks him out with nowhere to go. Dean is a good-hearted doctor with a past cheating boyfriend looming over him (quite literally). He doesn’t think he will ever want a relationship with someone again.

Dean sees this beautiful man on a website he stalks every once in a while. They start talking, but Noah never sees the face on the other end of the screen. Until he ends up in someone’s office, wink wink. Sparks start flying and Dean is always trying to find the right moment to tell Noah that he has seen him before… many times. Noah and Dean’s relationship starts heating up, but there is a serial killer roaming around the states killing only men. Noah finds out the connections between the killings and himself. Things start to get complicated and a bit creepy. Dean finally convinces Noah to stay with him for a while until this killer is found. Noah is totally safe in Dean’s upscale L.A. security-walled complex…. right?

Dean and Noah are one of the most romantic and hottest couples I have ever read and listened to. Dean is so sweet to Noah and they have amazing chemistry together even before they ever meet. Oh my, when they meet, I swooned, laughed and loved them together right away. There are a few small parts about kidnapping and the killer does talk a little about what they have done in the past (just as a warning). But there isn’t much and it’s near the end of the book.

Max is one awesome writer. This is the first book I’ve read/listened by him and I fell totally in love with his writing right away. The characters are so well written, I want more of them. The story had the perfect amount of love, sex, mystery, and a bit of suspense. And I was totally shocked in parts of the book! That rarely ever happens.

Jason Frazier has one steamy voice! I am always looking for new titles with him as a narrator. It’s smooth, sexy, breathy, and oh so sweet. His transitions from character to character are seamless. The sexy scenes are hot. I feel like the characters have MORE character with him as their voice. I do think that he needs to work on some parts as the killer. I can’t say too much without spoilers, but the killer’s voice wasn’t really convincing and kind of lackluster. BUT it didn’t ruin the book, and I still LOVED the writing and the narration. But everything else was wonderful!

This was an okay story. Both MCs were likable and I enjoyed the development of their relationship. The serial killer/stalker subplot was not so successful because there was not enough suspense leading up to it. The story would have been fine without it IMO. I would have liked more of the visit to Cuba and maybe Noah reconciling with his dad. 3.5 stars

3.5 rouned up. Okay, I randomly stumbled across this author on TikTok, go figure.

After finding his long-term boyfriend in a 3-somes, Dr. Dean has decided it's the single life for him. He's been watching Joey, a cam boy, who one day comes into the ER after a minor accident. He gives his number to the Dr. who knows who Joey/Noah is, and finally calls him. Noah had been kicked out by his father and is working as a cam boy to earn enough money to pay the rent while his personal training business can support him. Of course there is a serial killer who seems to be targetting cam models and it looks like Noah is next.

Things I enjoyed: A cam model who's boyfriend doesn't have to "save" him and they actually do a joint show with Dean's face not exposed. I know I'm old as dirt but lots of young people don't think that kind of thing is all that weird. So it was nice to see something a bit different.
I liked Noah's friends who were good friends, not overbearing, just fun. Even Dean's friend was nice.
Noah and Dean were hot and sweet.
They went immediately to the police when they suspected the stalker was after Noah and didn't try to hide it, explain it away, or deal with it themselves.

The thing I didn't enjoy as much was the side-trip they took to visit Cuba where Noah was born. There didn't seem to be much point. It didn't really advance the story beyond you getting to know how amazing Noah's mother had been. I kept thinking there would be a plot point but not really.

On the whole it was enough to keep me interested.

Hot and sweet with suspense! Outstanding!

Loved both characters, Noah and Dean! I thought that this was very well written and kept me reading until I finished the entire story. Noah and Dean are great characters with well defined personalities and both are so big hearted, and the sex between them had me fanning my face. This is a must read!

Reviewed for A Drop of Romeo...

Noah Silver has been having a difficult time lately what with his Mother having passed away and his father being dreadful to live with so he decides it’s time to move out. However, for that you need the funds. To get cash fast Noah becomes a cam boy. Unbeknown to Noah, one of his viewers is Dr Dean Harper - a handsome doctor whose ex-boyfriend ripped his heart out when he walked in on him having an affair with three other men. After an accident, Noah arrives at Sierra View where he meets Dean and they have a connection. But what would a successful doctor want in a cam boy like Noah? And how can Dean explain to Noah that he’s been having lustful thoughts about him long before he stepped into the hospital? Alongside their blossoming romance, a serial killer is targeting cam boys. What will happen to them once they realise that Noah is the killer’s next target?

I’ve been on an M/M binge lately and I am incredibly over the moon that I stumbled upon Max Walker’s Code Silver. I had this little gem stored away on my kindle for when I went on holiday with my sister and niece so I could have something to read at the poolside. It delivered. For someone who hates sitting in the sun, I couldn’t get up to move because I just couldn’t put this novel down at all. I needed to know what happened to the characters.

The characters were written beautifully. I had a massive crush on Dean and I think I could even label him my fictional boyfriend because I was that in love with him. He complimented Noah perfectly. The way Walker writes feels carefree and his dialogue was simply beautiful. Some of his lines actually had me laughing and the banter between the characters was flawless. Of course, there were sex scenes but Walker managed to write them extremely well and I deem them safe to read while out and about - can’t get more public than poolside with strangers! - but I suppose that does depend on your own blush-o-meter.

The added drama of the serial killer alongside the blossoming romance was the pièce de résistance for me. It kept the story being the same as every other romance I’ve read and kept me glued to the novel. I read this book in one sitting and as soon as I was finished I was downloading the second one in the series.

This may have been my first Max Walker novel but it definitely won’t be my last one - and for good measure, I’ve also added him onto my follow list on facebook just so I know can be aware of any upcoming releases. My list of favourite authors is slowing increasing and Max Walker has made it onto the list.

Another great read from Max Walker, I really enjoy his style of writing and his books are just getting better and better. I love how Max's books how ever slight are connected weather it be through a friendship or family. Like in this one Dean Harper is the brother to the MC Chris Harper from Daddy's Kissing Santa Claus. Even though there is that connection that is where it ends, they are all Standalone reads.

Code Silver is now one of my favourites it's a fast paced intriguing read with a twist a didn't see coming. I loved the banter between these two characters we got fun and flirty but also depth to each of them. Their back stories were emotional and i loved seeing how they moved forward and then finding each other how they did was as funny as it was hot.

I can't wait to see what comes next from Max Walker but there isn't a doubt in my mind i'll be grabbing at it as soon as its released.

Well written. I really liked the romance part of the story, wasn’t too fond of the serial killer part. This book was mainly a romance, it seems like the serial killer part was just thrown in there. There weren’t enough ‘clues’ to figure out who the killer was.

*****
POV... third person

Did it give you a hangover... slight

Standalone or series... book 1 of series (CAN be read as standalone)

Would you recommend it... yes

What is Code Silver? Code Silver is the story of Noah Silver, who in my opinion, is like a breath of fresh air and full of spunk. Struggling to accomplish his dream of becoming a personal trainer he gets a 2nd job to bring in extra money as a 'cam boy'. He crosses paths with successful ER doctor Dean Harper. Dr. Harper is instantly attracted to Noah and at first he didn't know why until he realizes that Noah Silver is 'Nick" the cam boy he's been well watching and engaging with online. Dean swears off relationships and men because is douche bag ex of five years left a bad taste in his mouth (no pun intended) after being caught cheating in a threesome, so he reluctantly keeps quiet about knowing who Noah really is to keep his online relationship hot but soon all that starts to unravel in the wake of a serial murderer targeting cam boys. Their attraction, chemistry and interest is instant so what happens when it finally gets out? Well, lets just say it's a good thing Dean Harper is an expert in the medical field because the heat is real and someone should treat these burns!

After discovering Code Silver was also available on audible and free with the Romance Package, I took the time to silently thank myself for keeping the subscription because when I finished reading Code Silver I just needed to listen to it. Jason Frazier NAILED IT! Max Walker wrote a strong story, combining romance and mystery couldn't have been an easy feat but he nails it in Code Silver. The chemistry he's written between Noah and Dean had me getting the next book in the Sierra View series. He writes the real emotions in relationships that we can relate to (exes, employment, status, family, friends, insecurities, etc.). Max took his time with Noah and Dean (thank god) because as much as I love to read steamy sex scenes, he stuck to Dean's character when it came to being in another relationship and relinquishing some of that trust with another. Being in a five year relationship and come to find that your significant other threw it away, couldn't be easy; and with Noah's character, and how he felt that he wasn't good enough because of what he had to do to make extra money isn't an easy topic to discuss over dinner but Max did it and it was beautifully written. He took his readers into consideration when he wrote Noah and Dean's story because their situations felt so real and possible.

Now lets get to the goodies because the sex? Hot damn! I've just recently started reading m/m romances (less than a year) and I must say, Code Silver is on my top ten, and to be honest, I was hesitant of the whole cam boy thing BUT he wrote it very well. I kept and open mind because my first thought was like "cam boy, eh tacky no?" Well he proved me wrong and it was hot! Hotter in audible too!!

While all this is happening, in the background you get snippets of murder who's been murdering cam boys and when he contacts Noah, the mystery begins and the suspense of who done it grows...expertly written into this romance, you think you know who it is but Max throws you into a loop, so read Code Silver, till the very end because if the story of Noah and Dean doesn't keep you turning the page over and over, then the mystery of who the murder of the cam boys is will! Five stars for this hot mystery! Happy Reading and Listening!

Rating: ★★★ 3.5 really.
Cover: Cover is nothing special, kind of like every other book out there.

Possible triggers: Really none, except a mention of a cheating man, but nothing on page. So you should be safe. Some violence.

This story was fun, flirty and hot. It reminded me of a soap opera plot, but that's not a horrible thing.

ER doctor, Dean, works nonstop. He gets his physical release from a webcam man, Noah, and is crushing on him pretty hard. He fantasized about Noah to save himself the heartache of another broken relationship. A way to protect his heart, possibly.

Noah is left with no choice but to make money the fast way, cam boy. He doesn't want it to be a fulltime job, just something to bypass the trials he's having in his life and get him where he needs to go, safely.

I think this next part was nothing spectacular, anyone that read the blurb or the first part knew it was leading to Noah being sent to the ER and Dean being his doctor. Dean has to treat his crush, the man who's been the object of all his fantasies. They get together right away, the build isn't much.

There's some drama, a bit of a mystery and they find themselves being thrown into trouble. I liked that plot, it kept me interested, but I felt as if it was thrown in for dramatic flare. Kind of like what I said above, like a soap opera. They're corny, but you have to know how it will end.

Why I gave it 3.5 stars: The plot was okay and the writing, too. The editing needed a lot of work. Grammar, sentence structure with dialogue, tense issues, and repetition. Again, a lot of telling and showing rather than letting us feel through the characters, Walker tells us what to feel. Even with all of these, it wasn't enough to make me stop reading. I wanted to see how they got their HEA, and it was sweet. There was a lot of sex, so if you like that, you'll like this. I personally thought it was too much and didn't add to the story, only word count.

Overall, I liked it and I'm going to check out more from this author to see how his writing matures.

*A side note* I love when covers give the perfect image of the characters and this cover is all wrong for these characters. Also the insults sound like they were written by an 8 year old. Douche waffle, seriously?! Other than that I enjoyed it.

After coming out to his parents and being cut off Noah who is an adult but with no means and dreams for his future decides to start a cam porn show thinking if he doesn't show his face theres no harm.

At the same time the hot doctor who is single due to his need for monogamy turns to the internet for entertainment. This is where he gets a crush on the sexy cam star. They exchange some chats but with neither showing their face they stay anonymous.

Then one night Noah has a little accident and ends up at the er being checked out by the sexy doc. They flirt but neither of them knows that they have been exchanging sexy chats but Noah slips the doc his number.
After awhile Noah decides to show his face to try to make more money and the doc makes the connection but doesn't tell Noah but he does ask Noah out and that is where things get interesting in both good and bad ways with his identity now known publicly.

The story has lots of elements and kept my interest from start to finish and the ending was such a shocker. I thought I had it figured out but I was so wrong.

3.5 rounded up. This book is much better than the first book I read by this author. It still has some odd moments. The glaringly obvious is the weird subplot of a serial killer that felt tacked on and 🙄 fantastical. It could be completely edited out and the story would have been so much better. If the author needed drama, the docs crazy ex could have been woven in easily. Maybe have him stalk the doc or the new love.

Overall, I liked both main characters (Noah the camboy and Dean the hot doc) but I squirmed a bit on the actual meet. It seems a bit out there that Dean, an ER doc, takes a patient’s phone number..and actually calls him for a date. It felt inappropriate and unprofessional under the circumstances. not to mention the awkward moment of 2 grown men getting spontaneous erections while Dean talks to Noah after a head injury. Also, it’s a bit weird that the author blithely ignores the At least 10 year age gap and the wide socioeconomic standings between the two men. Ummm. Okay.

Still, it was overall a cute, if unbelievable, romance. The sex scenes were hot. Overall solid in the middle.

I honestly think that, might just be less painful than reading this book!

Both the plot (the little there was of it) and the characters felt cardboard thin at best. It was all very superficial and uninteresting and highly predictable. And in my opinion, this book would've been much better (not that that is saying much in this case, but still..) if the whole suspense part of it was removed. I mean really? It was OTT, ridiculous and frankly did not fit with the storyline at all.

Needless to say this is one series I won't be continuing with. My time is better spent elsewhere.

Sweet romance
low relationship drama, with thriller sub-plot.

This book is the kind of comfort read, with low angst and low drama. Once the couple get together, they stay together.

Both Noah and Dean are likable characters. They are sweet and understanding. I like that Dean always treat Noah as equal even though Dean is older with higher social status.

Once they get over their reservations in the beginning, they talk and communicate about everything. In fact, the couple get along very well, no problem or misunderstanding.

They have great chemistry together. There are many sweet moments and sone good banters. The sex scenes are hot.

I am not sure what to feel about the sub plot. I know that it is there to make the couple go through it to prove their love. Along with this sub plot, there are weird characters thrown in to act as variable suspects, and out of the blue conversations about serial killers. I love the romance aspect of this book, but the thriller/mystery subplot is kind of mediocre though.

OMG.. This is a fantastic book from start to finish, It'll blow you away at the ending..with a WOW moment. The characters are great together before they actually meet but its nothing compared to when they actually do.. their chemistry's are of the charts, they sizzle..
