This was my first book by Natasha Madison and for sure won’t be my last because I really liked the author’s writing style. 'Hell and Back' was equally heartwarming and heartbreaking and overall a great mix of suspense, action, drama and angst.

The story fallows Bella, a young mother who just escaped from “hell”. Bella and his three years old daughter, Lilah, have been living for a long time in fear. Living in an abusive relationship wasn’t easy for Bella, sacrificing herself many times for her daughter over the years. When she finally realizes she deserve better than an drug addict boyfriend who abused her over the years in every possible way, she runs with her daughter at her grandmother house. She’s devastated when she finds out her grandmother passed away, feeling not only broken, but so very lonely as well.

“I’m no one’s fucking hero, but I’m going to be yours.”

Jackson lives across the street. He’s a detective working in the SVU department and from the moment he meets his new two neighbors he takes an interest in them. He figures out immediately the two of them are traumatized and that they are running from something or someone, feeling very protective of them from the very beginning. Even if Jackson is friendly, sweet and considerate, Bella is reluctant to accept that he’s a good man and that he’s interested in her well-being, at least at first, pushing him away with every opportunity. But as they get to spend more and more time together, she realizes not only that Jackson is a good man, but also that she deserves someone who can offer her stability and a good life, a man who is willing to do anything for her and her daughter without questions.

“You’re my perfect, you’re my salvation, and you’re my everything.”

Bella and Jackson’s story was fast-paced, emotional and overall well done. The author handled Bella’s situation with care and respect which I liked and appreciated. Overall I found the plot to be pretty develop with some interesting twists and I didn’t see coming which I loved since everything became more interesting.

The two main characters were well portrayed and endearing. Bella’s situation was heartbreaking to say the least and her story touched me deeply. She was a strong, brave heroine I liked from the moment she was introduced. I loved the way she cared for her daughter and how determined she was to finally offer her the life any child deserve. Jackson was an awesome hero. An alpha male, he was everything Bella and her young daughter needed. He was fierce and protective from the very beginning and while his insta-lust towards Bella bothered me a little, I really enjoyed his character.

I also liked all the suspense-action situations as the story unfolded. All of them were intriguing and in some way kept my interest until the end.

Overall, a great story!

I just adore stories that have young children in them. Though the circumstances for both mother and child in this story start out so dire, it was wonderful to see how happy they end up by the end.

”I have to take my life back. If for no other reason but to show Lilah how to move on. To show her how to live life without fear.”

description

Bella takes her three year old daughter and flees her abusive and scary relationship. The mom and daughter go to start a new life in her now deceased grandmother’s home. It seems grandma did a lot of talking about Bella and young Lilah because they find they have instant friends on the block. Though the two are very skittish to the love and support they find they both start to blossom and so does a love connection between Bella and her hot detective neighbor, Jackson.

“I’m no one’s fucking hero, but I’m going to be yours.”

description

The author throws into the mix one HUGE twist that was very clever and does cause problems. I had a bit of trouble fully connection to the hero who falls instantly in want with the heroine. I’m not sure why perhaps he was too cookie cutter for my tastes? Nevertheless, the author handled the topic of abuse and victims very well and delivered a good read.

“You’re my perfect, you’re my salvation, and you’re my everything.”

I'm already huge fan of Natasha Madison's after only reading a few books from her, but Hell and Back makes me somehow love her even more. Bella and Jackson had my heart racing and their tortured pasts made me want to take them in my arms and protect them.

Bella wasn't ready to trust anyone after leaving her abusive ex, but Jackson worked his way into her heart and made it known he wasn't letting go of her and her daughter. I really liked stubbornness within his character and once he made up his mind about his new neighbor there was no changing it. I loved him for Bella and he was the perfect person to bring her out of her shell. Once she opened up and stopped letting her fear control her it was like seeing a whole different characters, and the change was amazing.

I actually almost didn't read this book at all because the blurb had me thinking the hero was a drug addict (I clearly read that wrong) so I'm extremely happy I ended up choosing to read this book. Ms. Madison really does not hold back with this story and it kept my interest solely on these characters for the few hours it took me to read it. My advice to anyone that hasn't read this book yet would be to get on that as soon as possible.

4.5 heart melting stars.
Not an easy read, many heavy topics , but a beautiful one.
Safe for me
The twist around 50% was unnecessar in my opinion
And also too much drama in the second part of the book.
I also didn't get why the h waited so long to leave her bf, especially she had a child! The small girl was really adorable. My heart broke in the beginning, when the small one was so scared. No one should live such horror!
Read the book and think about it, see around, pay attention. Maybe your neighbor or your friend suffers from domestic abuse and they could need your help and support. Don't look away! Open your mind and your heart. Thank you for being human!

Well, this just wasn't for me. It might be my mood, but I just didn't click with it. Even though they didn't say that they were in love, it felt a little too instalove for me in how they expressed feeling a strong connection to each other as early as 19sh% (and after only a few short interactions). I didn't feel it at all, and I felt like I was being told about the connection instead.

I can see how some readers might be just fine with this, and that they might also enjoy the OTT possessive protectiveness that the H displays -- but I just needed more!

I have too many books in my tbr list and so little time lately that I can't justify sticking with a book that simply isn't working for me...

A sweet romance, though it does have triggers

I really liked how patient Jackson was, how he committed and didn't waiver, not once even to the point of choosing her over his family. He's more of a sweet and gentle alpha - he's got the uber protectiveness down to a fine art but still gave her the time and space that she needed. I also liked that although there was something with Kendall at the beginning, there was no other woman drama, no slut shaming and once she was done, she was done and wasn't mentioned again. That really worked for me.

I'm really curious about Mick's book - I'm seeing a good grovel in his future :D

I totally enjoyed this one..full review to follow!! Worth every damn lap dance I have promised!! The second book from this author started with a bang, drawing me in right from the get go..there was a broken woman...kept strong by loving her daughter...a protective alpha male that was brought into their lives for a reason...and my favorite an alpha protective neighbor that would do anything for these two fragile yet strong girls that moved in next door.

I laughed..cried...gasped and connected. I can't ask for more when I dive into a book. Especially a second book written by an author. Ms. Madison did an amazing job of weaving, love, friendship, building a family and the worst of the worst in bad guys. Mystery..intrigue and heart. I really enjoyed this book so much. Can't wait to read more from this author. She just keeps getting better and better.

I'm sorry because lately I'm adding more I-won't-read-reviews than reviews for books I read, but work and Uni are driving me crazy!

I'm passing on this one because just the blurb is offputting, I rarely enjoy romances when there are children with other people. And it's even worse when Children are ok for epilogues or sequels.

Very emotional road to happiness for an awesome cast of characters. Lots of suspense with very disturbing scenes that left a chill in my veins. I adored how much Jackson cherished Bella and Lilah. The addition of Brenda gave it humor and nurturing.
I really enjoyed the whole story.
It's a slow burn yet this fit perfectly with how much healing Bella needed to experience before moving on. This also proved how truly awesome Jackson was.
The twist missed its mark for me only because I analyze everything and there is no way after months and months that Bella wouldn't have encountered one major clue. Also being a mom to a cop like I am I also had that side to deal with. But for a second book by a relatively new author I see great things in store for this sweet lady.

Hell and Back is a strong sophomore follow up for newcomer Natasha Madison.

To hell and back is right! The story starts with Bella and Lilah attempting to forage a new life but fear and pain have their claws firmly instilled in these victims. The same fear to hold Bella in place until an unthinkable happens involving Lilah. Even though Bella never felt worthy enough to want for more or believe she was worthy enough to even deserve it she comes to the realization she must flee, especially if she wants Lilah to ever know her worth.

Oh poor Bella! My heart broke for her from the opening scenes. We all have regrets, especially those where we failed to mend fences before it was too late. Truly needing to stay under the radar and off the grid becomes even more difficult when unbeknownst to her she is surrounded by a support system who loves her before they ever officially meet, thanks to Nan. Bella taking action now when as far as she knows she truly has no one, made me love her even more. In my opinion she rose from the ashes early on when she left. Bella is a likable H and will root for her in part due to her plight and in part due to her tenacity.

Sometimes angels and forces of good surround you even when you think your in your darkest moments of despair... enter Jackson, Brenda, and a few others...

Jackson, #hubbahubba !! Who doesn't love the mystery alpha neighbor who wants to save the world from bad guys? The author writes Jackson in a way where the reader becomes just as leery of him as Bella. He comes off way strong and is zero to sixty in 1.3 seconds flat, which is off putting to say the least considering where Bella and Lilah just came from. Though she tries she just can't not notice him. Though a brute Jackson knows to tread softly even when being the force that he is, this and his softness with Lilah paves the way. The Jackson Bella connection is a fast one, a bit insta love but do not give up on their story! It's a connection you will believe in as the story unfolds.

I loved how lovely Brenda is, how she paid all kindness forward. No judgement, no questions asked, just love. Unconditional love. Even Nancy , another victim of sorts, helps and loves Bella when she is in need. Nan's legacy of love surpasses any one persons need and brings those she loved together.

Lilah is a ray of sunshine throughout the story and my heart shattered at times for not only Bella but for this little girl.

There is a BIG twist you will NOT see coming. No way. I couldn't even believe it and had to re read several parts to make sure I understood. Keep reading, you'll be glad you did.

Natasha Madison has talent for bringing characters to life and connecting to the reader. Foes and plot lines are realistic and scary, the reader definitely feels empathy, pain, fear, heartbreak, and joy. Hell and Back is a roller coaster of emotions and you'll enjoy the ride.

Bella escaped a very abusive relationship and took her 3 year old daughter with her. Now she is hiding in her grandmother’s home that was left to her after she passed away. In fear of her Ex finding her, she doesn’t really venture outside of the home except at night so as not to be seen.
Things change when her neighbors pretty much force themselves into her life. She has a lovely older woman that lives next door that was great friends with her grandmother and across the street is handsome Jackson.

Jackson is a detective and because of his training he quickly realizes that his pretty neighbor has been through something traumatic. He is the perfect alpha and feels the need to protect her and make sure she knows that no one will ever hurt her or her daughter again.
I was a bit irritated with Jackson’s mother and I think as you are reading it you will understand which part I am talking about.

This was a great mix of suspense, sweetness, action, angst. The way Jackson was with Lilah was just one of the many reasons he was so endearing.

I’ve been to Hell & Back. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and overall I can say

3 ‘Can Mr. Big come out and play?’ Stars

The beginning of the book was like a shot to the heart. Our heroine Bella has left her abusive relationship with her daughter Lilah. What they both experienced and how petrified they are for their lives is palpable. Her chance at freedom is when she finds out that her Nana has passed and she inherits the house.

Our Hero Jackson Fletcher has seen a lot in his job working in the Special Victims Unit as a cop. He has also been feeling very guilty of a past mistake that still haunts him seven years later.

He feels an instant connection to the two broken girl’s across the street when he sees them watching the stars one night and slowly but surely he starts to knock down Bella’s walls. Bella is trying to rebuild her life and she slowly become the woman that she is meant to be.

I admired Bella and the journey she takes to be the person she used to be.  They both as a couple have chemistry although Jackson is a bit of a wild card to be honest. He didn’t always get it right with Bella but anything he said at the beginning is hard.

There is one major twist that I didn’t see coming. Which added an Oh crap moment to the book and the difficulties that arise. It is also a situation I would dread being in.

The author hit all the right notes when it came to conveying feelings and emotions of anger, despair, heart-breaking and utter loss. But in saying that when the funny moments came it just felt so out of place. The book doesn’t have to be one or the other it just felt off to me.

There is one thing which annoyed me and I can’t really explain why. Lilah has never eaten pizza at the end of two. So they give her pizza which is fine with me. But throughout the book the poor girl only got pizza, sweets and a lot of sugar. Is it odd that I am bothered by this?

This is an author to watch out for.

This book was just as heartwarming as it is heartbreaking! A book you won't be able to put down until you're done.

The story of Bella and Jackson. Bella and her daughter, Lilah, are so broken, so scared and for an incredibly good reason...their lives have been a living nightmare. When they move in across the street from Jackson, he takes an immediate interest. Although he doesn't know their story, he feels like he needs to protect them, and as a police detective his instincts are pretty accurate. But trust doesn't come to Bella easily and Jackson has a long road ahead of him.

The twists came out of nowhere and totally threw me! I was definitely on the edge of my seat and anxious numerous times while reading. It was one of those, I need to keep reading, but I'm worried that something bad is going to happen! It was all worth it in the end because the HEA is sigh-worthy.

Secrets, suspense, unexpected twists, romance, great dialogue, hot sex, along with laugh out loud moments, cringe worthy moments, gut wrenching moments, and wtf moments...it's got everything!

Now I just need Mick and Marissa's story!

Hell and Back ~ 3.5 stars

Earlier this year I’ve read Natasha Madison’s debut book – Something so Right – and I loved it. Hell and Back is her second book and tells the heartbreaking story of Bella and her daughter Lilah and their chance at a normal life with Jackson. Hell and Back is written in a different style than the first book, and is much more an Alpha book; a somewhat over-the-top Alpha falling for the sweet heroine. I do like the story, but it wasn’t what I expected based upon the author’s first book.
“Hope, hope for change. Hope for the future. Hope for the end of the nightmare I have been living the last four years.”

Bella has escaped hell. After years of horrible abuse by her boyfriend she finally has found the courage to leave him, to save herself and most importantly to save their young daughter Lilah. Being with her ex-boyfriend has cost Bella her relationships with all family and friends she had, and to her surprise her grandmother left her a house and some money to get back on her feet. All Bella wants now is to heal, to build a normal life for her and Lilah. She isn’t looking for another man in her life – her ex made sure of that – but refusing neighbor Jackson is not possible.
“It’s almost too perfect. I have to stop myself from dreaming, from thinking this is what I’m supposed to have. I made my deal with the devil, and I got out. I don’t deserve anything more.”

Jackson is a police officer with a troubled past. After the death of his father his family fell apart, and to this day Jackson feels responsible for the aftermath. He did all he could, but in the end, it wasn’t enough. In his line of work Jackson sees the worst of humanity, and the moment he sees Bella and Lilah he instinctively knows they’ve been through hell. Jackson also feels he is the one to protect and cherish them and steadily he works his way into Bella’s life.
“She has to trust me. She has to give me a chance. I have to show her she can be safe here. I have to show her not every man is evil like the devil. The only thing is how the fuck am I going to convince her or make her let me?”

Having been through hell with her ex-boyfriend, Bella isn’t looking for a man at all. She’s glad she and her daughter are alive, and that she finally can give her daughter a normal childhood with toys and regular food on the table. Bella hasn’t counted on the persistent Jackson, but slowly he breaks down her walls and she lets him in. Jackson has had a normal life with normal relationships with women, but what he feels for Bella – and her daughter Lilah – is something much more. He wants to protect them, love them and be with Bella in every way.

It’s hard to read about Bella’s previous relationship. What her ex did to her is horrible to read, my heart breaks for her and Lilah. I’m so happy she could get away and that the girls have a chance at a normal life. Not only a normal life in safety, but also with a good man who is willing to protect them at all costs. But unfortunately, this man – Jackson – is also my main issue with this book. As a police officer, he knows Bella comes from a very bad place, but instead of taking it slowly, he almost steamrolls himself into her life. He doesn’t take ‘no’ for an answer and doesn’t listen to Bella. I know Jackson is an Alpha and that he means well, but in my opinion it was a bit too much. Despite the horrors of Bella’s past, Hell and Back is an easy book to read, besides the twist it’s a bit on the predictable side.
“Marry me?” I look at this man with the crystal blue eyes, who has personally chased off every single one of my demons. The man who showed me what it was like to love and to be loved. The man who shows me tomorrow will be better than today.”

I love how Bella and Lilah find their Happy with Jackson, but due to my issues I give Hell and Back 3.5 stars.

“I’m no one’s fucking hero, but I’m going to be yours.”

4 beautifully broken stars

I loved this book! A beautiful romance between two broken people whose love story absolutely stole my heart!

Bella has just escaped a devastatingly abusive relationship and is in hiding with her three year old daughter, Lilah. She has returned to the house where she grew up, left to her by her recently deceased grandmother, and she is determined to create the life that her daughter deserves – full of love, laughter and peace.

Across the road from her lives Jackson Fletcher, a dedicated Detective with the SVU who is driven by a mistake from his past which still haunts him seven years later. Jackson knows all about Bella from her grandmother, and from his first glace of the broken woman and her adorable, yet terrified, daughter, he is drawn to them. He immediately recognises the fear and brokenness in Bella and Lilah, and like the protector he is, he wants to be there for them. He wants to shield them, to heal them, and to be a part of their lives and he immediately sets about doing so.

“I won’t hurt you or Lilah, not now, not ever. You have my word on that.”

God, I love Jackson! He is a fiercely protective alpha with a heart of gold and a sensitive, gentle way about him that had me falling for him over and over again. He makes his way into Bella and Lilah’s life, becoming a friend and promising that he won’t hurt her, and he pushes her to start living her life again, leaving no doubt as to what he wants with her.

“I look at you, I watch you, and it takes everything I have not to lean in and hold you. To pick you up and carry you to my bed. To hold back and not tell you want I’m feeling.”

Bella has been brutally and tragically hurt and is understandably scared of Jackson, but he is there for her in a way that she’s never experienced before and as she gets to know him she learns to trust him, and the feelings she is beginning to have for him. And as she slowly starts to let him in, neither of them can hold back any longer and they fall into an easy, natural and heartfelt relationship. Jackson takes things slowly with Bella, earning her trust and gently working his way into her heart, and I love the mix of his gentleness and his determination.

“There is no pushing me away now, angel. Just take my hand. We’ll go slow and take baby steps. Please, Bella, I need you two as much as you two need me.”

But life isn’t all love and happiness for them. Despite the peace that they find together, the bad times are far from over, and the twists, turns and intrigue that is woven into the story from Bella’s past, and from the case that Jackson is working, add a great sense of intrigue, drama and suspense to the story. It’s a wonderful contrast to the love story, but it also adds to everything that is developing between them, and I thought it was really cleverly done.

“One day you’ll let me in completely, Bella. One day you’ll lean you can trust me completely. One day you’ll give me your heart, and I am going to cherish it.”

I love this relationship. It’s sweet, tentative, honest and easy, and the pacing is perfect. The development of their feelings is beautifully written as they grow closer, and the sexy time is hot, passionate, and an extension of all that they are feeling for each other.

“I love her. All of her. The broken pieces, the whole pieces, the good, the bad, the ugly, everything. I love them. I’m not letting them go.”

There is a lot of healing that's needed for both of them, but Bella and Jackson are there for each other, and though they have their ups and downs, their relationship is a true partnership - with little Lilah very much a part of what they are building together (Jackson with Lilah is ovary-quiveringly adorable), and their love story is absolutely beautiful.

“I don’t deserve you. I don’t deserve anything you have to give me,” I say as I trail kisses along her neck, “but I’m not walking away from you.” Her hands grab my shirt, bunching it in her fists. “You’re my perfect, you’re my salvation, and you’re my everything.”

I loved this book! The story is told in dual POV and it is beautifully written; I could feel everything that Bella and Jackson were going through. They are both fantastic characters, and I loved watching their individual journeys, as well as their journey together. The strength that they show in dealing with their issues, as well as in trusting their hearts and moving forward together, was really nicely done and makes this a compelling, heartfelt story.

This is my first read by Natasha Madison, and I’m definitely looking forward to more of her work – especially the next book in this series featuring Jackon’s partner, Mick, whose story is previewed throughout this book.

A great read – 4 stars.

Review Done By Natasha Mahadeo....

When my Girl Natasha said to me that she was writing her 1st book I really loved going on that journey with her. It was exciting and i loved watching how her mind worked. When that book came out I knew how amazing of an Author she was and I was glad the world was getting a glimpse of her brilliance. But this book  this damn amazing book shows us she is firstly definitely not a one hit wonder, and that she is not afraid to push the boundaries. She is a magnificent Author that obviously can give us Different.

Whether it is Sweet Romance or Darker this girl hands down knows what she is doing. From the moment you start this story, you literarily grabbed by the ur heart and Balls... This story will fucking Shred you. This journey is gut wrenching and will at times make ur stomach turn. This book is about Lilah and Bella. Ladies there is no easy from the first chapter but these two grab ur heart and never let go. Fuck did I tear up many times , sob and ugly cry during this book.... The emotions you go through because these two beautiful souls go through the fires of hell. The Devil Himself had caught them and never let go until our Warrior Bella realised that there is hope outside of where the demon had her trapped. That she has the Fight and strength to get them out the depths of hell.

When they make it out of the monsters clutches these two crushed souls are battered and broken both physically and emotionally. I was so thrilled they had something  and someone that gave them hope to take the leap and faith,  that everything will work out fine for them. Little did they know, the leap they take would lead them down the road that will take them only to love, kindness and protection.

Unconditional love is what  they find when they least expect it. That's what Jackson is to them both Jackson ,Jackson , Jackson he is Alpha and Hotness wrapped up in beautiful muscle and a gorgeous face to go with. Jackson who has his own monsters to slay takes one look at this mother and child and knows these two have been damaged in the worst kind of way, he knows that he was put here on Earth  to love, protect and shield his girls... From the moment he meets them he knows something is wrong he just never realized how utterly wronged these Two were This man and his love for Bella and Lilah had me sobbing and saying finally they getting the man they deserve and need. He fought to gain their trust, he slayed dragons, burned down the devil himself to get and keep his girls safe. Every scene or chapter had me in one emotion or the other.

This book will give you the biggest MotherFucking Twist I have EVER read in  book History.... The Angst and OH MY GOD MOMENTS will make you put that kindle down and look for a Cigarette. I polished a couple double Absolute with cranberry during this book...

Hell and Back is so amazingly true to what happens in this book. It fits the story so Perfectly.... There moments where I just sat there and  almost called Natasha and asked what the fuck were you thinking? How could you do that? Were you not loved at some point in your childhood? Where dies this kind of dark from. My Beautiful Natasha Butterfly can't do this to me. She is not deranged or not a phyco....This was all because the twist and turns are ones you never see coming. Its amazing to know her mind went there and she could give us this.

This magical book just doesn't give you main characters that you will never forget but side characters that you fall in love with as well. This Magical Book is book about having faith and hope even in our darkest of times, it shows us that Good always wins over Evil. And that bad days never last forever. Its teaches us that each and everyone of us deserves their own  HEA....

Ladies grab this book nothing I or anyone else says will do this Fantastic, Nail biting and magical book Justice.... I can't wait to get everyone's reaction on this beauty. I can't wait for URL to be wowed and in the end after all the ugly cries you will be sobbing happy tears.....

Enjoy Ladies!!!!

Bella hasnt had the easiest life and now that she has a chance to give a better life to her daughter and herself she is making the most of it!

When a single mom and her daughter move into the house across the road, formally owned by a sweet old woman. Jackson is intrigued to find out who the mysterious two are. Barely leaving the house and closing all the curtains has Jackson even more curious as two who they are hiding from.

Bella and Jackson's story was definetly a slow burner. Bella was hesitant to get into a relationship after the last one left her so broken.

From the second he lays eyes on Bella Jackson vows to protect her and Lillah from anything that tries to take them away.

Lillah and Jackson's realtionship was so sweet. Lillah really stole the show. She was so cute.

Hell and Back is filled with lots of angst and some action. It wasnt a second chance romance but it definetly was a second chance at happiness for Bella!

ARC received from author

OMG this book... I want to give this book like a million stars... It was dramatic, sad, emotional and so much more.

Bella and her daughter Lilah has just moved in across from Jackson. But something isn't right with this women and her daughter. They have been living there for a week and he has only seen her out at night. Clearly she is hiding, but from what or who

Jackson is a detective in the SVU department. But he is also hiding something that is a huge burden to bear for him.

This book deals with so many issues, and it will have you in tears believe me. It is so beautifully written that you cannot help yourself but finish it in one go.

I loved all the characters in this book. Ms Brenda OMG I want a fairy godmother like that. And Jackson, what can I say. Once he met Bella and Lilah all he wanted was to make them happy and to protect them from whatever they were running from.

But he is in for the fight of his life

Natasha Madison Awesome and Amazing. I can't wait to read Mick and Marissa's story!

Hell and Back was an ok read for me. It started off pretty good and my heart broke for Bella and her young daughter Lilah, what they suffered at the hands of her ex was just terrible. After that I was kind of bored. The story moves along but were supposed to believe that Jackson sees two broken girls and he's in love. The love happened so quickly I had a hard time with it because I just didn't feel any connection between the two. I actually felt nothing while reading this book and would have probably DNF it if I hadn't already wasted so much time with it. With that said will I read the next book in this series maybe hopefully the writing improves and I feel a better connection between the characters.

This book really took me to hell and back!! Bella has been in an extremely abusive relationship for the past few years. One day she finally gets the courage to leave and do what's best for her and her daughter Lilah. She moves into her deceased grandmothers house and tries to start fresh. But the thing is she really isn't living. She's in constant fear and not getting any better. Both her and Lilah are prisoners in their new home. We have a hottie detective neighbor next door named Jackson. From the moment he met them he couldn't help but feel protective of them. He forced his way into their life whether Bella liked it or not. At first I thought Jackson was way too pushy but he was exactly what Bella and Lilah needed. They needed to know it was ok to be happy again and not to live in fear all the time. I loved how good Jackson was when it came to Bella but especially Lilah. He was their protection the monsters. In this book we had one heck of a plot twist I didn't see coming. I was in utter shock. I had to get confirmation from a friend that I did indeed read that correctly. This part in the book really threw me for a loop. I loved this book as a whole. It showed us how to have courage and to move on after something terrible has happened. It's ok to have hope. It's ok to be happy. It's ok to love again. It's ok. This was my first time reading anything by this author and it won't be my last. The story flowed, the secondary characters were great and didn't over power the story. This story just sucked me in and I didn't let me go! I can't wait for Mick (Jackson's partner) and Marissa story next!!

description

"I can't lose you, Bella. You own me. My heart, my body, my soul. Everything is yours."

Hell and Back is about Bella and her three year old daughter who escaped from a very dangerous and abusive relationship. She eventually ends up at her grandmother's house, who has passed away, that was left to her. Her next door neighbor Jackson is a detective for the special victims unit and sees right away that his neighbors are broken. As an alpha male who is in the business of saving people, he can't resist to help them out. Bella is very guarded and has mixed feelings about his sudden interest in her. She tries to keep him out of her life. But he slowly gains ground and eventually wins both Bella and Lilah's heart.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a solid story with very interesting characters. I especially LOVED Brenda, who is another neighbor, who became such a great support and friend to Bella. She was a fairy godmother who does whatever she likes, and boy does she loves to spoil little Lilah. Bella was a very strong woman, who finally breaks free from the abuse she endures. She had a backbone! She stood up to Jackson and told him to stay away from her. She didn't trust him at first. She wanted to do things on her own, and I respect that a lot. I loved that their relationship grew at a slow pace, they really took their time to know each other before taking the next step. Jackson is obvious someone who wants to save people but had a bit of boundary problem. He sometimes came on too strong, especially in the beginning. He also had a bit of an anger problem (e.g. punching walls).

This is a great story with a couple of twists I didn't see coming. I also loved that we got see a bit of the case that Jackson was working on. It added another layer and made it a better story. The writing was very easy to read, and had a great flow to it. The flow of the story was steady and very pleasant to read. Also I didn't have a feeling that anything was rushed, especially towards the end. Everything fit great together. I am looking forward to reading Natasha's next book that will focus on two secondary characters we met in this book.

Oh my! What a rollercoaster! I will start right out of the gate that this book has some definite triggers. Abuse in many forms (drug, emotional, physical, sexual, child) can be found from beginning to end. Some of it is the retelling of a single event but even so, it is still tough to read or listen to.

That said, it is a fantastic book, even if the journey is incredibly rough! I laughed, I cried, I cried some more. My heart was erratic as the suspense and drama ratcheted up. My heart nearly broke several times. I was listening to the audiobook and kept finding things to keep my hands busy so I'd have an excuse to keep listening (needless to say, my Christmas wrapping is nearly done, tree is trimmed, and house is looking pretty clean!).

I liked Joe Hempel's and Melissa Moran's portrayals of Jackson "Ackson" and Bella (and the secondary characters) were terrific!

OMG MINDBLOWING!!

“You’re my perfect, you’re my salvation, and you’re my everything.”

I remember reading the blurb and thinking “ ok , I’ll read it, sounds good” and saying that I am grateful I did, is an understatement. 3 Weeks later I am still suffering from the biggest bookhangover I have ever had.

Hell and Back was so addicting, I had to have more and I devoured it in just a few hours. The story of Jackson and Bella totally consumed me. It was so good that immediately after finishing, I contacted Natasha Madison thanking her and asking when she was releasing more in this series.

To be honest, words fail me about how to describe this book... but trust me, if you can only buy one book this month, buy Hell & Back. It will not disappoint.

The dual point of view narration enabled us to get to know all the characters as individuals, then as a unit ... It was a roller coaster full of ups, downs, twists and stomach dropping moments. N.M ripped my heart out and I literally stopped breathing at some point… to the extent that my husband kept asking me what’s wrong? I will tell you what was wrong- the writing is flawless and the story so captivating that you are sucked in and forget that the story of Bella and Jackson is purely fictional.

My emotions were all over the place- tears, heart palpitations, and lots of heartfelt sighs.
I don’t think I have ever crushed on a character in a book more than I did while reading Hell and Back . Jackson is the embodiment of perfection of love at its highest, purest level.
He’s a bit of everything- friend, lover, protector, Alpha and a knight in a white shiny armour.

Bella bless her heart, she was a damaged heroine who, despite her traumatic past, strived for a fresh start, a new beginning for herself and her daughter!

“I’m broken. Your mother is right. You can’t save me, and you can’t heal me. I have one goal in my life now, and it’s to make sure Lilah knows what love is. Unconditional love.

This book read like a movie in my head. For me Bella and Jackson’s story is more than a story about love, abuse and loss, it is a story about trust and letting go.
This book will simply blow you away and make you feel all the emotions, all the angst that the characters are experiencing. I can't even describe it...
With its unique take on love, loss and learning to open up again, Natasha Madison has written a masterpiece, un “chef d’oeuvre” and 5 Stars doesn't do this book justice.
Outstandingly pure and beautiful.

"I never want to know what a tomorrow will be like without you in it. I never want to wake up in a bed without you in it. I don’t want to go through this life without you by my side."

4.5 stars for HELL AND BACK by author Natasha Madison.

Bella got caught up with a man and didn't know how to escape until she finally found a way. She lives in fear and worry that he will find her and her daughter. She has lived in hell and has no intention of ever going back. With the help of her deceased Nan's inheritance she has a way to move on, to live again. Fearful of everything and everyone in the beginning she will slowly learn there is good in the world and people who are good too.

The woman inside that house looks like she has the inside of the devil's playground and she's survived to tell about it.

Enter Jackson. When he sees movement in his deceased neighbors house he is intrigued, when he meets the new neighbor he is pulled to her and wanting to know her story. Being an SVU Detective his protect nature is elevated and as he learns more about her and her daughter he is pulled in further. When he hears the utterance of one scared child. "I want 4 sand castles, no monsters in castle? Momma no ouchies in castle."

Slowly he works his way into their lives, showing her he is there for them. That he will lay down his old life to protect them. But when he fails he is even more resolved to protect them, even if it means killing the person responsible in doing so shattering a part of his world.

This was such a good read. I loved Bella. While shattered, battered and bruised. She is resilient in her willingness to save and protect her daughter, Lilah. Lilah is a scene stealer as a 3 yr old. Jackson is a true hero in job and his character. Neighbor, Brenda is a gift from the heavens. Maybe from her Nan.

Just so good.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

This book completely owned me from the first page. I was turning the pages Faster and faster because I had to know what happened. From the first word I was completely hooked.

Hell and Back is about Jackson, Bella and her daughter Lilah. Bella and Lilah move in across the street from Jackson. He feels an instant pull to her, but she is hiding from something or someone . Bella is very timid and Jackson being the Complete Alpha he is decides he will be her protector.

Bella is very guarded and nervous and tired everything to push Jackson away but he is completely determined to knock hee walls down. She seems him with Lilah and he so sweet, she has never met a man like him. Let me tell you I Swooned so hard reading this book. Jackson is the Ultimate man.

Will Bella's past catch up to her, If so Jackson will be there to protect both her and Lilah. Nothing will harm his girls again.

OMG the twist. I did not see that coming at all. Natasha has such An amazing writing ability to keep your attention and entertained on every page. I Swooned, I laughed I cried reading this book.

Natasha is fast becoming one of my favourite authors I can't wait for more
