One of Virginia's most successful women, Loraine Farrow tries to focus on her marriage to Leon, but her ex-lover Michael refuses to let her go--especially when he discovers that Leon is hiding a dark secret that could break up their marriage.

Sometimes we know we should leave well enough alone, but like a train wreck about to happen, we just can’t look away. In my review of Carl Weber’s Big Girl’s Do Cry, I wrote the following:
"What really would have set this book over the top for me, and I was actually waiting for it to happen, was for Leon to be revealed as Big Poppa. Now that would have been a mess. The third installment, “Torn Between Two Lovers” will deal with Lorraine, her husband, and her new love Michael. Not sure that Mr. Weber will find the same interest as he did with “Big Girls Do Cry,” only because I found Lorraine’s storyline a bit annoying and unbelievable at times. Jerome's drama would definitely send me back to the bookstore.
When a close friend nudged me towards reading Torn Between Two Lovers, with a smirk on her face, my curiosity was peaked and I decided to take the bait. However, my disappointment soon set in, which was only alleviated by the fact that I checked this book out at the library, and did not purchase it. I don’t mean to go on a tirade about my disdain for sequels, so I will just say that this book is a prime example as to why I avoid them.
Torn Between Two Lovers was obviously written in haste. Although the book was a page-turner (because I just wanted to see who would be Big Poppa, and I must admit I was beginning to think it may be Rashid, Egypt’s husband) it lacked substance. At 190 pages, and nothing mind-blowing going on, Weber could have easily wrapped up this last bit of drama at the end of Big Girl’s Do Cry, which I enjoyed a whole lot more.
There really isn’t much I can say about the book, so I will just send out another plea for writers to PULEEZE stop it with the sequels when you can wrap up the story in one book.
Much Love,
Tracy

The sequel to Big Girls Do Cry is the hottest thing of the year!!!!! Torn Between Two Lovers has the same characters returning and bringing their drama back with them. Loraine, her husband Leon and her ex-lover Micheal, Jerome and Big Poppa and stalker Peter, and their friend Egypt has you rocking in your seat for the entire book! Make sure that you have enough time on your hands bcause this can easily be read in less than 24 hours! Too hot, too exciting!!!!!!
When you find a good friend, you should never do something that will permanently destroy your friendship. Jerome & Lorraine fell out in the previous book, "Big Girls Do Cry (BGDC)" and she fired him and discontinued their friendship. Now Jerome gets the opportunity to rekindle their friendship but blows it again in the most devastating way! That friendship is dead.
If you have a stalker, take care of your business and let your friends and family know because the stalker will interfere with their lives as well. Peter was a one-night-stand that Jerome (name comes up again) had. Peter fell hard for Jerome, left his wife and now won't take no for an answer in regards to being with Jerome. Peter tells him, "If he can't have him, no one will.". Peter's destroying relationships of the present and the future for Jerome. This obsession will lead to the death of two innocent people.
If you're married and believe the grass to be greener, you need to modify your thoughts. Lorraine was so sure her husband was cheating on her from the previous BGDC and so she went out and had a one-night-stand with a Soldier and then started dating Michael. Only to find out that her husband "never cheated" on her with a "woman." Now Lorraine and her husband, Leon decide to renew their vows but Lorraine is still seeing Micheal and she don't want to stop and Micheal wants her to leave her husband. Eventually she will get caught but the drama from this will have everlasting effects for all involved. Jerome is to blame for Lorraine cheating but wait until you find out about Jerome's main lover for six years!
There was a lot of deception, unnecessary drama & pain, non-accidental deaths without remorse and issues amongst them all. The lives lost in the story was because of the selfishness of others.
Why do I keep doing this to myself? This novel was definitely a guilty pleasure...except without much pleasure. This third installment of the BIG GIRLS DO CRY Series was a disappointment. Although the ending was meant to be a shocker,I could see it coming from a billion miles away. And though it was predictable, it somehow managed to be farfetched at the same time. Figure that one out. I don't want to be rude, because Mr. Weber is a successful published author but the ending doesn't just throw you for a loop, but a do-loop de doop.
This was an ok read. It lacked any substance, which I guess I shouldn't be searching for in what I consider to be a "guilty pleasure" novel, but durn, just a little couldn't hurt.
Definitely not the best from the Carl Weber library.
After realizing in Big Girls Do Cry that her best friend Jerome secretly and single handedly plotted and executed the destruction of her marriage, Lorraine is heartbroken that she was duped into starting a new romance and kicking hubby Leon to the curb. Luckily their divorce is not finalized before Jerome's scheming was brought to the light and never mind the fact that she has already given her heart to an old childhood pal, pretty boy Michael, Lorraine immediately decides to give her marriage a fighting chance since Leon has apparently been faithful all along.
With Leon struggling unsuccessfully to cure his premature ejaculation issue, before long Lorraine decides she can no longer go without Michael. Subsequently Lorraine finds herself torn between two lovers literally when her lover knocks on her front door directly following her husband Leon finding out about their affair. The men demands that she makes a choice right then and there and that is exactly what she does.
This novel wouldn't be possible with Jerome. He is surely the root of all evil. It seemed that he deliberately or inadvertently had a major hand in every single scenario that went astray. I knew I didn't like this character for a reason and exactly the type of person he is comes to light in this installment. I was shocked by him planting panties around Lorraine's house and thought it going too far but as we finish up this read readers will realize that he is capable of anything, and most of all, can never be trusted.
Surprisingly short but sweet is how Carl Weber kept it this go 'round. He was also sure to kept it juicy, drama flowing, and astonishingly unpredictable. The characters we have grown to love and hate all seem to step out of their normal personalities and that makes it all the more interesting. There are many peeks in this novel but the most prevalent of all is definitely finally finding out who Big Poppa is! I'm sure we all had our suspicions but seeing the name in black in white is just scandalous. To get the most from this novel I strongly recommend you first read Something On The Side and then Big Girls Do Cry. Happy reading!
Damn, damn, damn....Weber knows how to write some drama. Loraine, Jerome, Peter, Michael, and Leon are in some tangled webs and there is no telling who is going to get caught up. I never saw the ending coming (well it crossed my mind but I didn't want to go there). I thought the first part was good (Big Girls Do Cry) this one was ten times better. You don't have to read the first one to get the background story as he quickly recaps early on but it defintely will connect all the crazy dots. Now I'm out in search of another Weber novel...
WTF?!!! A coworker recommended this and went on and on about how shocking and suspenseful it was. Is it just me or were there no other choices of who Big Papa could be?! I'm starting to wonder if my taste is changing as I get older because things that might have appealed to me 20 yrs ago ain't cutting it now. And the ending?! OMG! Whatever, this wasn't a hit for me. I guess I missed what all the rage was about. I'm hearing the same thing with The Man in 3B and I'm leery about getting it now.
4⭐️ I knew I knew it!!!!! I totally knew who Big Poppa was! Anyway, this was a fun short read to finish out the series. I liked this one even more than the last one. Excellent drama, excellent stakes. Some of the trauma in this was a bit much, but overall I give this book a round of applause. I wasn’t connected to any of the characters but I liked the book. Especially the ending, except now I need a spinoff lmao there was a lot of loose ends from the book prior to this one that I thought would be tied up here but they weren’t even mentioned.
I didn't get a chance to read the first two but I'm kind of glad I didn't. Although I love Weber, this book just didn't do it for me. I felt like the ending was rushed and thrown together and for Loraine to end up with Michael ??? Like... I don't know.
It took Loraine to find out that her husband was cheating on her for more than half of their marriage to decide to be with Michael.. If I was him I wouldn't want it; if your not first then your last but I guess once your in love, logics becomes less appealing. Haha... Shame.
Everyone in the book was torn between two lovers in some form or fashion. It was going good until we got to the end ... True Bomber! If I would have read all three books I would have been pretty disappointment ...
When I figured out who Big Poppa was I literally screamed!!!!! Then I back tracked this book and Big Girls Do Cry to see how I could have missed any clues!!!!!! I really enjoyed this story, it was short and drama filled!! I just don't like when Weber uses phrases like "it's nothing you can do" instead of "there's nothing I can do". That just gets on my last nerve! I live in the south and the people here talk like that. I'm not sure if Weber's way isn't grammatically correct but it just sounds stupid and allowing some of his "black elite" characters like Lorraine to speak that way adds nothing to the story.
In this book, the perspectives are from Leon, Michael, Jerome, and Lorraine. From the title and the previous book, I thought that Lorraine was the one that was going to be torn between two lovers. This title applies to all of them in some way. Leon is continuing therapy and learning more disturbing this about his past; Jerome is still being stalked by Peter; and Lorraine still loves Michael even though she and Leon are trying to make their marraige work. It was a page turner. It's shorter than Big Girls Do Cry, so I finished it in two evenings.
Talk about drama and scandal! This book had me on edge wanting to know what was going to happen next. That reporter dude was so far gone off his rocker, I thought for sure he'd go down another way for what he'd done but I guess he went down the "street" way instead. Oh how love will make you do some hurtful, crazy and stupid things... Very good read, I definitely would recommend this book to others!
This book is part of a series. It is hot, steamy, complex and exciting. A sister has a man and another one takes him away, more like steals. There is parental drama, sister drama and friendship drama. No doubt this book is all about drama! Naturally, with Carl Weber writing this book you should know you're definitely going to your monies worth and then some.
Where do I begin?this book had me in suspense finding out that the best friend and husband were lovers, wait! I mean he was bi sexual what is that about?the wife had her affair and then ended up with him in the end. I mean he seemed stalkish and cra cra but she wanted him. This book I recommend everyone read ☺
I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick read for me and I did not expect the ending at all. The author did a great job of giving the reader just enough without giving too much. The main character did not evoke any sympathy from me.
I did not read the previous books in this series and this is why my review may not be up to par for the story.
Loraine, Jerome, Peter, Michael, and Leon are in some tangled webs and there is no telling who is going to get caught up. I never saw the ending coming . Jerome secretly and single handedly plotted and executed the destruction of her marriage, Lorraine is heartbroken that she was duped into starting a new romance and kicking hubby Leon to the curb. Luckily their divorce is not finalized before Jerome's scheming was brought to the light and never mind the fact that she has already given her heart to an old childhood pal, pretty boy Michael, Lorraine immediately decides to give her marriage a fighting chance since Leon has apparently been faithful all along.
I'd read the second book in this series a long time ago without knowing there were 2 other books! Now, after reading the whole series, I am just flabbergasted!
Jerome was the friend nobody needed. I can't believe I spent the first half of this book feeling sorry for Loser Leon thinking Lorraine needed to stand by her man because he was going through so much when he was out there wilding!
This book was great and I read it entirely too fast trying to hurry up and find out what's happening! I may need to circle back to some of my old Carl Weber reads soon because this was the jumpstart I needed.
Sometimes, the secrets we hide have a way of getting back to us in a big way. In "Torn Between Two Lovers", this is more true than ever. Leon and his wife Lorraine have just moved to Richmond,VA and are looking forward to spending the rest of their lives together. However, her ex Michael isn't ready to leave her alone for good, which makes it more complicated. Leon has some issues of his own that's he's working through in therapy. Can they both find a way to make it work,or are they better off alone? Read it and find out!
WHEW CHILE is all I can say! This was my 1st ever Carl Weber read and this book had me hooked since I opened it up. I didn't expect the big twist and it just kept getting better and better as I was approaching the ending. My favorite character had to be Michael. This novel has been added to my favorite reads bookshelf. You will be in for a ride once you get your hands on this one here! I promise :)
This book started off pretty decent but as it got further and got past Jerome preference, and the twist came and was like okay that who did it. He pulled it off pretty well. Some people say they love someone but willing to sleep with another, think of Tina Turner's jam "What's love got to do with it?"
The audiobook reading was phenomenal and now listening to another book by Carl Weber even though I read that copy via book (So you Call yourself a man)!
I was vacationing in Florida for a few days and found the book ”torn between two lovers” at a dollar general. I bought it as a joke assuming that it was dumb sense I found it at a dollar store for three bucks. But holy shit i COULDNT put it down, Im so excited to get the rest of the books in the big girls book club series because this book was so amazing. the characters are well written and there’s so much going on. This is by far one of my favorite books now, and I read ALOT of books.
I give this book 4 stars, because it kept me listening (yes, I love audiobooks!) which means it was interesting enough, as it had a build-up of a story and the plot was present. There was also a lot of cliché, but it made me laugh. I’m going to look for a sequel, because there was no corpse collected, so Peter’s not dead, only Big Poppa bought the farm 😂
What a mess this story was! Very entertaining. I hadn't read a Carl Weber book in a while and had forgotten how good he is at writing messy drama. This book was no exception. There was a lot of cheating, and I do mean a lot. The twist at the end was unexpected but good, and I'm glad Peter got what was coming to him.
