Provides information on each step of the college admissions process, including selecting a college, writing application essays, handling college interviews, and financial aid.
Helpful overview for folks starting to think about the college selection process. Read early (definitely before junior year). Also helpful for students to hear what their parents have been telling them, from a different voice so maybe they'll listen...
I’ve been going through the 2018 edition which I got from the library. I would recommend buying a used copy so you can mark it up and dog-ear pages. Nicely organized, fairly concise descriptions, handy lists of schools by strength and consortia. I highly doubt the material changes much from year to year. The description my alma mater and the school I almost selected are oddly pretty similar now to what I recall from ages ago. Selectivity may change over decades but the core personality of a college seems pretty consistent over time. This is a solid reference guide for an admissions adviser, guidance counselor, parent, or student.
Great guide for parents and students needing a down-to-earth walk through the admissions process. The 1 hour college finder is a great tool! One of my favorite books. - Ashley McCarrick, Corporate Director
