Learning Their Language: Intuitive Communication with Animals and Nature

Rate this book
Forget about whispering to horses, our author knows their language and talks to them. Almost everyone has had a moment when they felt a connection to an animal, almost as if they were communicating. According to animal communicator and author Marta Williams, they probably were. Over the past 13 years, Marta has worked with clients (people and the animals in their lives) to resolve behavior and training problems, find lost animals, assist animals that are ill or dying, and help animals get along with each other. Her human clients have contacted her from all parts of the globe, and her animal clients have included horses, dogs, and cats. In the course of her work, she has come to believe that anyone can learn to communicate with animals and with nature, and this inviting book teaches readers how they can use techniques and exercises to tune in and learn this language.

One of my very first, pivotal introductions to the essential world of animal communication: the proof that animals are fully capable of ANSWERING us! The reason we presumed animals were inferior, a supposed inability to speak, is smashed with this proof and it's paramount to spread. Why is animal communication proof? Because this concept is the methodology for learning how to receive our animals' end of a conversation! The being who has been missing one side of the ability for conversation, was never *them*!

Nature is always speaking in our original, preverbal language: telepathy or "intuitive communication". We all have it but in the last few hundred years, societies developed an inferior attitude towards other souls. The only blockage is brainwashing ourselves that this intuitive muscle cannot exist. We can all open that channel, exercise that muscle, when we turn off distractions; starting with that pooh-poohing deterrent, derived from a warped obeisance and covetousness of "logic". Imagine beginning to understand animals' answers to conversation and a more detailed, personalized awareness of their preferences and needs!

After discovering animal communication in a wondrous book by Richard Webster that changed my life, I searched for practitioners in Manitoba. I not expect anything metaphysically cutting-edge nearer than Lily Dale, New York or California. It was spring 2006 and astoundingly, a California communicator was about to teach a private workshop two hours from home, Marta Williams. I bought "Learning Their Language", 2003, in preparation for it.

My spouse drove our Siamese, McCartney & I, now sixteen, to take it. I bought Marta's second book there, "Beyond Words", which she autographed at the end of our two days, after getting to know us a little. They are very clear, reassuring, and written to be all we need to reclaim our skills.

I've been an animal lover all my life and for many years I have thought of learning to communicate with animals. I have finally decided that I would read books and start practicing how to communicate with them. I think it would be treat to be able to talk to animals and help them when they need it.

This book really has a lot of information, great stories from clients and students, and great exercise to learn to communicate with animals. I did do some of the exercises and found the one easiest for me so was asking questions. I asked her dog questions (she has pictures of her animals in the picture) and got answers. I checked in the back of the book after doing the exercise and found the information that I got was correct. I've never met this woman, never even heard of her before reading this book and I know nothing about her animals.

It was really neat to get accurate information and I'm looking forward to practicing more.

This book is a copy I got from the library and I definitely on buying my own copy to continue to practice exercises. Great book.

A friend gave me this book to read because they knew I was interested in Rupert Sheldrake. I dippped in and was turned off at first because of the intuitive communication with the spirit of a dead animal hocus pocus, but kept an open mind. Some of the activities are meh, but some opened my eyes. The talking as equals was an interesting experiment and the talking from a distance. I tried this while at the grocery store and asked my husband to watch my dog and her reaction - I told her to be at the front door as I was coming home and she was there. It was a spooky and strange feeling. I particularly loved the sections stressing honoring as that was so right to me. This is a book to read with an open mind, but with love for animals, I quickly realized I was opening myself to a deeper love for all and it seemed no big stretch at all. Perhaps she is right - animals have a knowledge that we have forgotten.

A fascinating and inspiring book for any animal lover. Filled with amazing stories of everyday people learning how to communicate with and listen to their animals. Plenty of suggestions and experiments for learning to do it yourself. As my dogs can attest, I'm working on it!

I loved this book! I started reading it as a curiosity, expecting an autobiographical account of the author's experiences, but she made it sound so easy and fun. I tired out her exercises and was surprised at the accuracy of the answers I received. By the time I was halfway through, I could really see how animal communication would combine very well with my energy healing practice. I checked out the author's website and she has a great deal of helpful recommendations and also courses that she offers. I am grateful to the book for opening me up to a new path and providing such excellent guidance!

I can't say whether the techniques work, but I loved this book anyway. Even if it's complete nonsense, it makes me happy to think about it. Animals are much more intelligent and complex than we give them credit for. They're able to pick up a lot of nonverbal cues from us, at the very least sensing vocal inflection and emotional intent. I'm not sure it goes as far as Marta Williams takes it, but I can't help wishing it did. I've had some eerie experiences using these techniques, but there are also times they didn't work at all. I'm filing this under "Nonfiction books that are better than fiction, because of the hope that they might be true."

Communication with your furred companion is tantamount to sharing the closest possible relationship that you can share. People tend to "speak" for their pet in baby talk. Animals honestly will communicate with a human being who is willing to take the time to learn their language. Marta Williams' book helps to teach the human being how to intuitively "listen" to your furred friend. From someone who has practice this my whole life, I give 5 stars. Excellent book!

This is a great book to read if you learn best by yourself, reading and practicing on your own. Marta's instructions and practices make good sense, and are easy to do. A great foundation book, along with Penelope Smith's books, for learning animal communication

This book may really have been closer to a 3 for me, but I was so happy to see someone writing about the subject matter that I let my bias up the score a bit. 'As for me and my' animals we will keep working on better communication.

Interesting and fun book. full of useful information and positive messages. i just adopted a feral cat. i have no experience on keeping cats before so i have been finding books and youtubes to learn. i came across this book at the book store while i was finding books on communicating with cats. it teaches me things that i can do to develop and enhance intuitive communication(even better becoz i cant understand what their meows means) with my cat and as well as with myself and the world around me. i have been practicing for two weeks. i already find that my cat seems less sacred of me and giving me more responds than before. i will keep on practicing to see what will happen.

from the book, i really can feel the love the author feels about the world. not just for animals but everything. which i am touched. which changes a bit how i feel about the world as well and what we can do for a better world even with the only tiny effort we can give.

thanks to Marta for sharing with us her skills and technics <3 love this book!

Definitely the best guide to animal communication I've read! Her writing is very good and everything is explained very clearly and easy to understand for beginners. She has some beautiful stories and goes more in-depth than many other books in that she addresses speaking to plants, the elements and places. Very good section of recommended books at the back.
I already knew basically everything she tells you but it's a beautiful book and so interesting, it's a keeper for references for sure and she has some cool ideas for practice.

This book has helpful tips and exercises to help you develop your intuitive communication with animals. I think the book is best read as the author intended--with a notebook to take notes and track your progress. I did not do this, and I believe I would have gained more from it if I had. Think of it more as a teaching text, not that that is a bad thing, it's just not quite what I expected. I did love the author's real life stories though and her encouraging style of writing.

While this book is written for people who wish to understand animals and practice animal communication, the exercises are also applicable to working with human to human intuition development.

DNF'ed - Was a good enough read but wasn't intrigued enough to finish personally. I have some other books I'd rather spend my limited time on. Got about 1/2 way through.

This took me forever to get through. It was certainly filled with information and the author clearly loves animals and feels called to help other people love nature effectively but it was a drag of a read. The writing style is simply very boring.

About ninety-five percent of the book is dedicated to teaching how to communicate intuitively with pets, and is very repetitive, and only the last pages give attention to the rest of nature (the reason I wanted to read it to begin with). In fact, the last chapter was the most fascinating and beautifully written part of the book.

I did learn quite a bit about animals but after 251 pages of monotonous writing, I was happy when it was finally over.

I just re-read this book. I find the information shared very insightful, it's just a matter of making a connection and being able to take in what is perceived. The questions to ask are quite helpful. I really liked the chapter of energy work. I have become a Reiki level 2 and enjoy the thought of being able to share or tap into energies that are healing and good.

I don't know that I will ever feel compelled to become an animal communicator outside my own pets. But I love the notion that I could be still enough to have conversations with other life forms.

This is very intriguing. I've had a couple of experiences in the past of communicating with nature. I don't feel ready at the moment to do the exercises described in the book, but I will start to be more aware of my surroundings and perhaps can work toward that.
