Um, would it have made more sense if I'd read the earlier books first? And why does a leveled reader have such difficult words as Hilarious and Hoarse and Neighing?* And why were the horses screaming in the beginning? And why does the cow have no udder? Very weird story. If it wasn't by Yolen, would it have been published?

*Don't get me wrong; I love vocabulary, always have, but in a leveled reader?

Interrupting Cow meets a horse with some weird patterns going on. Cow discovers the odd looking horse is a Zebra, and the two quickly bond over their fondness for jokes.

It is nice for Interrupting Cow to find kindred spirits, and Zebra is definitely one. The puns in this book are abundant. It would be a good pick to introduce kids to homophones.

Interrupting Cow was wakened one morning by the noise of the other animals running and screaming. When she went to investigate, she discovered a strange looking horse - which turned out to be a zebra. Interrupting Cow started telling her jokes and the zebra asked her to be his friend.
This is a Level Two Ready-To-Read book with fun illustrations.
