She wants to come out stronger and more independent, for herself and her unborn child. So, she sets her sights on starting a new bakery in Cliffside Point. Evelyn and her sisterhood of friends are ready to help, although Renee is a bit out of her element. Luckily, a sweet local guy with a heart of gold offers to give her a hand. Ellen lives in a small town in New England, between the Atlantic Ocean and the White Mountains. She lives with her husband, two sons, and one very spoiled puppy princess.

Ellen writes in the early morning hours before her family wakes up. When she's not writing, you can find her spending time with her family, gardening with her puppy and chickens, or headed to the beach. She loves summer and flip-flops, running on a dirt country road, and a sweet love song.

All of her stories are clean romances where families are close, neighbors are nosy, and the couples are destined for each other.

I just love these books. They are so wonderful and I love all the characters. It’s so much fun to continue to visit with Bitty , Evelyn, Charlie and of course Mateo. I can’t wait to start Samantha’s story in the next book. If you want a wonderful clean romance I highly recommend them.

Another clean story and winner from Ellen.
I was hooked from the first chapter, read till 01.30 this morning, and was very reluctant to put the book down. Was so great to connect again with the familiar people from Beach Home Beginnings, book 1. This didn't just feel like a story told, it felt like I was a part of this amazing family and their friend. At times I had to dry a tear or two, and at other times I could just hug them. Ellen did such a great job describing all the delicious treats Renee baked that I could "smell" it in the air, and Mateo was an artist at renovating properties and making beautiful furniture pieces, even at drawing up plans for extensions and renovations in his business. I wanted to get to the end of the book to see how it worked out, but now I'm sad that the book is finished. Cannot wait for the next book in the series.
I received this book as an ARC for my honest opinion.

Sea View Cottage is sure to be a bestseller. Ellen Joy is a master storyteller, creating characters and storylines that are so heartfelt and engaging. You find yourself hooked within the first chapter - not wanting to put the book down but sad when the story comes to an end. I find myself so invested in these characters and I love the way she wrote Renee and Mateo! I simply cannot wait until the next book is released -so many possibilities for how this story can further weave its way deeper into my heart. If you are searching for books that make you feel good and entertained while reading them - look no further and pick up anything written by this amazing author. A must have for any book lover's collection.
Happy Reading...enjoy!

This book focused less on Evelyn and the two women living in her house on Martha's Vineyard and focused more on Evelyn's daughter Renee.  Renee moved in with her mom because she was pregnant and getting a divorce. I admired how she changed, made friends, and became so self assured, and less dependent on her mom, Evelyn. She really blossomed as a character which was so much fun to see happen. The story surprised me and it was so much fun to read.  I enjoyed the brewing romance too between the contractor and Renee.  This is a great series that has really delved into the characters, one by one.  I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

Renee and mateo

Book two I was shocked at the love interest in this one, Mateo has been in love with Harper all his life but only ever been a best friend,he kisses her to show how he feels but she turns him down, the next day he trys to talk to her, Renee hears there conversation and feels sorry for mateo.I did think he was attracted to Renee from the start with the wink at her when eating her food. But it felt fast one minute he loves one girl then another,I would of thought he would have to have a long talk with Renee about his feelings for harper, any other women would be worried about being second best.

Good book

I only gave this book a three because it took a lot for me to keep reading it due to the irritating daughter character. Every time she was nasty she would keep saying to herself to stop it but five minutes later nasty again. So many stupid feelings and secrets and feeling sorry for herself. Still in love with her husband who wanted her to abort their baby then offered a ton of money to have her raise the baby alone. So she had to treat everyone bad because she was waiting to hear from him and didn't. The rest of the people is what kept me reading. Not sure if I want to continue the see.

Am really into the people who live in Martha's Vineyard, especially Evelyn and her family and friends. Good read on Renee' and her problems. Also enjoyed learning about Mateo and his kind, loving ways. Am hoping there will be another book added to this series defining Evelyns and Charlie's relationship and what happens with Bitty? Also there's Charlie's daughter and so on, really enjoy this series and would love to see more added. Like and enjoy the author's flow of writing and style. This is a good series, just like her Camden Cove!

Another great book by Ellen Joy. Renee is trying to figure out what comes next for her and her unborn child. She takes a suggestion from Mateo to start selling her pastries. But what she really wants is her own bakery. After being rejected by the ones they love, Renee and Mateo find a second chance. Beautifully written story, of staring over and finding true love. I highly recommend this book.

I was given this advanced copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Ellen Joy has created a masterpiece in this sequel. Every single character had me emotionally invested in seeing what happened next. We finally get to meet Evelyn's second daughter, Samantha, and we find out what happened with Renee. I loved seeing all the characters come back-from Wanda and Renee to Charlie and Harper. The emotions are real and vivid. The imagery is gorgeous. The whole story from beginning to end had me immersed in the world of Cliffside Point.

Better and better!

I loved this series. Where can you find multi generational women making life work for them for the better and throwing in a little love on the side. Women have ups and downs in their journeys. Each one of these characters find a path that works for them as well as the people around them. I'm so happy I found Ms. Joy as a new writer for me. Can't wait to see what happens next. Enjoy!

I was so excited for this to come out and it was worth the wait! I loved that we got to read Renee's story, but we also got more of Evelyn and Charlie and, of course, Wanda and Bitty. This is only the second book in the series but I already feel connected to all these characters. Perfect feel good story!!

Her husband wants NOTHING TO DO WITH OR THEIR CHILD!
Who does that?? And so she goes to visit her mother. And stays there. With her mother, her mother’s boyfriend and her mother friends. And opens a business. And makes lots of friends. THIS BOOK IS SUPERB!!! I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and comments are my own.

Great series

Read the first book in this series and loved it so much I bought four more and have loved each one. Ellen Joy knows how to write a really good story. Her characters are people you want to be your friends and neighbors. You want to be where they are and enjoy their ups and downs. Perfect read for anyone who likes to lose themselves in the story.

Beautiful story of love lost, family and love found

Sea View Cottage: Romantic Women’s Fiction (Cliffside Point, 2) is the first book of this series I’ve read by Ellen Joy.
It drew me into it immediately and still hasn’t let me go yet.
I can’t wait to read book 1 and then go on reading this simply charming series of books.
It gave me all the feels of being in love.

I love Renee & Mateo’s story. Renee went home pregnant to her mother Evelyn with no explanations. Where was her husband? Job? Evelyn & the golden girls stood by her and supported her through it all. She decided what she wanted to do with her life. She made a plan and stuck to it. She’s stronger than she thinks and loved even more by the community around her.

Having a character that I personally disliked in the previous book, as the heroine of the next one is a turn off for me. Renne was despicable in the first book, it’s hard to relate or sympathize with such a character, and being pregnant is not an excuse to be rude. Also, the choice of her love interest would’ve been better if it wasn’t someone who was interested in another in the previous book.

My second of Ellen Joy's and the second of the Cliffside series. I have fallen for the entire Rose family and all their friends. Renee and Mateo's loves story arc did not disappoint. I have alread began the third one which focuses on Samantha. I love that even though the focus and love story in each book is different, I still get to check in with and hear how my other favorite characters are doing. This series is perfect as a calm but engaging story-perfect for my busy, anxious mind.

This book is filled with heartache between generations, the coming together of women and camaraderie. sisterhood can be so powerful and affirming. Any relationship done right can be good. Having the support of sisterhood as you actualize dreams is powerful too. This book also deals with mother-daughter angst.

While this book is mostly about Renee there is still so much going on with the women that live at Sea View Cottage. I enjoy reading about the compassion, the friendships that are almost closer then family and the relationships the friends have with others in Martha's Vineyard.

The 2nd book in this lovely romance series Derry on Martha's Vineyard centers around Evelyn's daughter Renee. She's a chef who comes home to her Mums after realising her marriage is over; and Mateo, Evelyn's contractor who renovated Sea View Cottage for her.

A lovely romance series about new beginnings, making changes and friendship! If you like this series, try Camden Cove by the same author.

The books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series.

what a great read

This series is one of the best ones I have read and I read a lot! No sex scenes, no vulgar language. Suspense was there but not confusing. Just a real pleasure to read.

Finding true love is a blessing.

A very enjoyable story. It's such a blessing when family can come together and support one another. A lot of characters in the story but they were all so caring and loveable. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

Sea View Cottage

Rather predictable romance, but the conflicting emotions of mother and daughter save the day! Occasionally there is some confusion as to who is speaking or leaving the room. Enjoyed the location and the characters.

Amazing

When I started book 1 of this series I thought I would quit there. I did not know that I would enjoy it so much that would have to continue the series. Enjoyed book 2 so much that I am getting ready to read #3. I really enjoy Ellen Joy's books. Keep them coming!

Absolutely terrible but the perfect book to listen to during insomniac nights - put me right back to sleep. (It couldn’t have been that bad, I did after all listen to 7+ hours of it. It cost £0.99 on Apple Books. Sometimes you just need an EXTREMELY low effort narration in your ear).
