Blame It on the Eggnog

Rate this book
Jacques:
I'm a single father, and I've had all the change I can handle: Retirement from the sport I love, a crazy ex-wife in prison, and five kids who need me more than ever. I don't have time for a relationship, let alone one with the interfering mother of the best player on the hockey team I'm coaching. She’s annoying as hell, but she’s also equally on my mind.

Serenity:
I'm a hockey mom and proud of it. I'm also the over-protective mother of a talented daughter hell-bent on playing with the boys. I'm determined that my daughter gets a shot at her dream despite her gender, even if it means butting heads with the team's rigid and hot AF coach. I have no intention in falling for this brooding man with a houseful of children, but sometimes life doesn't stick to the plan.

We wanted to blame it on the eggnog, but there's no denying our chemistry. Can two single parents find love and healing in the magic of a Garland Grove Christmas, or will our complicated lives ruin the best thing that's ever happened to us?

Garland Grove is the creation of four friends and USA Today bestsellers: Jami Davenport, Kat Mizera, Kelly Jamieson, and Tess Thompson. Journey with us to the quaint town of Garland Grove set in the mountains of British Columbia as our characters find true love when they're least expecting it.

Blame it on the Eggnog is a nice and quick read.

Jacques Frontier, is a former hockey player who moved with his five kids to the small town of Garland Grove, to give them a calmer environment to grow up. When he accepts to be the coach of his son's hockey team, he doesn't expect to like the job so much and to feel attraction for one of the moms of his young players. Serenity Jacobs is a single mom who wants the best for her kid and she becomes a mama bear to protect her offspring. That's not the only reason she keeps an eye on the new handsome coach. There is a deep connection between them and a great chemistry but will they act on it or will they be too cautious to save themselves and their children from a future heartbreak?

Jacques and Serenity journey gave me all the feels. Their relationship grows organically, their fears to suffer again for love are believable. I grew so attached to them and their kids I was almost sad to finish the book.

Jami Davenport finally gave us Jacques Frontier's full story. I was waiting for this character's story since I've read about him in a previous book. The author didn't disappoint and delivered the sweet happy ending this man deserved.

Don't worry, this is a complete standalone, I'm sure you'll enjoy as much as I did.

The festive season is approaching I recommend to one click this story and consider it an early present.

5 star review of Blame It On The Eggnog (Romancing The Rink #3) by Jami Davenport
This is the third book in the Romancing The Rink series and it was a great addition to the series. It was great to be back in Garland Grove and this time we have single dad and Seattle Sockeyes retired goalie Jacques “Jock” Frontier. I love single parent and holiday stories so this was a win/win for me.

Blame It on The Eggnog was a well written, entertaining story that ticked all the boxes for me. Moving his family to Garland Grove was all about a fresh start away from hockey. When his son asks him to coach his hockey team, Jacques in not keen but against his better judgement finally agrees.

Meeting Serenity, the single mum to one of his players he finds himself attracted. What will happen when the kids realize that their parents are dating? Will they accept it or will they make trouble for the blossoming relationship? The chemistry between them is intense and it is obvious that the connection between them is impossible to ignore. .

Blame It On The Eggnog was full of so many feel good moments that my face ached from smiling. It was also emotional as they struggled to find a balance and I was brought to tears on occasion.

Could the miracle of the holiday season give Jacques and Serenity a second chance at love? One click and find out.

Jacques used to be a goalie for the Seattle Sockeyes. He retired with his five children to a small town after what he went through with his ex wife. I can’t imagine what he went through with his ex wife, especially when she kidnapped his oldest daughter. I felt the children were taking it well with their mother in prison. Jacques was such a wonderful, loving and giving father. I can understand why he never thought he would get married again. I love how children can guilt parents into doing things they want like Dez getting Jacques to coach their hockey team. He had no idea what he was getting himself into! The rich parents seemed to control the old coach and no one liked Charlie who was the only girl on the team and a goalie. I felt Charlie’s mom Serenity was over protective of her daughter, but that was how she really met Jacques when she went to talk to him. Neither Jacques or Serenity were looking for a romantic interest, but sometimes you just can’t help how you feel. I loved how Jacques’ children were behind him in getting involved with Serenity. I was very disappointed in Serenity’s daughter Charlie in how she manipulated her mom to stay away from Jacques. Needless to say their relationship was up and down. I enjoyed the story and encourage you to read it. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

Jacques "Jock" Frontier gets his HEA!

Jacques "Jock" Frontier is a former hockey goalie trying to protect his five children from gossip after retiring from the Seattle Sockeyes and moving to Garland Grove. His plans changed when his son asked him to be the new coach for his team until a new one can be found. Jacques had avoided all things hockey after his retirement, so he was surprised that one of the goalies was a girl, Charlie Jacobs and she had a gorgeous mom.

Serenity Jacobs never planned to date again after being a single parent to Charlie when her daughter’s new hockey coach made her realize that she wanted more in her life even when Charlie didn’t want her to date him.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is the perfect story to put you in the holiday spirit! And the perfect place to be is in Garland Grove! 5 bright holiday stars!
We have Jacques, retired pro goalie who has moved his family to Garland Grove for a fresh start. When his son ropes him into coaching his hockey team, he thinks it's only temporary! When he spots a woman in the stands, he's instantly attracted to her, but he's not ready to dive into anything, still dealing with the aftermath of his ex wife. But there is just something about her.
Serenity is a single mom, and her daughter plays hockey on an all boys team as a goalie. She stands up for her daughter to get equal play time for her. When she meets the coach, she can't believe her eyes, he's very handsome, but she's not ready for that kind of thing. It's always been her and her daughter, she doesn't have room for anyone else right now.
Read along and enjoy this story, as these two fight their attraction with everything they have! I enjoyed it and couldn't put it down! I need to go back and read the other books in this holiday series for sure!

Blame it on the Eggnog is book 3 in the Romancing the Rink/ Garland Grove series of stand-alone stories and this one stars Seattle Sockeyes retired goalie Jacques “Jock” Frontier. If you love the holiday season you will love this magical read.
Jacques has retired from professional hockey and is now a single dad to his five children, he moved them all to Garland Grove to start afresh and the last thing on his mind is a relationship or hockey. His eldest son plays high school hockey and he comes home one day after practice begging his dad to take over as coach as the last one just quit, it’s takes a bit of a guilt trip but Jacques finally agrees to be the temporary coach until a new one can be found. What he didn’t expect was for one of his goalies to be a girl and for sparks to fly with her single mum Serenity. What follows is all the trails and tribulations you would expect dealing with 6 children coming to grips with their parent finding love. Teenage hormones run wild as the younger children take it in their stride but can Serenity move on and finally put her feelings first, just this once……
This is an emotional, magical read that at times will tear at your heartstrings and at other times will leave you smiling like a Cheshire Cat. It’s has wonderful characters and it’s was wonderful to be back in the small town of Garland Grove especially when it gives us the opportunity to catch up with one of our favourite Seattle Sockeyes players. It’s a quick read that packs a mighty punch and I guarantee it will put you in the mood for the upcoming holiday season. A perfect, magical addition to this wonderful series

For fans of Jami Davenport’s Seattle Sockeyes we finally have what we have been waiting for Jacques story! Blame it on the Eggnog is the author’s entry into the Romancing the Rink series. Jacques is the former goalie for the Sockeyes who after immense family tragedy has retreated to BC to raise his 5 kids out of the limelight. Here he meets fellow single parent Serenity while coaching both of their kid’s hockey team. This story is about meeting that person who is meant for you and the complications of dating as a single parent. As a fan of the author and all that she has put this character through, I was thrilled for Jacque to finally get his Happily Ever After. This story was sweet with just the right touch of angst to make you want to root for them as a couple. I do wish that the relationship between Serenity and her daughter had been expanded on a bit more in the story but other than that, this was a wonderful read. My only other recommendation is that the Author update her Bio now that her beloved Seattle has their new NHL team, The Kraken!

Blame it on the Eggnog is such a fabulous read. This is a single parent romance that will put a smile on your face as you go through the holiday season. Both Jacques and Serenity are single parents who have this sizzle that will want you hoping for more. I love the antics all 6 kids get up to when it comes to all that is Jacques and Serenity. Jacque is a wonder dad turned kids hockey coach. He has a lot of tough decisions to make when it comes to team dynamic and I love how he handles himself. Serenity is a sweetheart who is dealing with her teenage daughter the best she can. She is just wonderful with all of Jacque's kids and so patient with her daughter. There is so many wonderful and angsty moments between Jacque and Serenity's family that will keep you glued to the pages. This hockey romance will put a smile on your face as you watch the magic of Garland Grove claim another couple. I love what Jami Davenport brings to the pages to bring this Romancing the Rink book to life in the small town of Garland Grove. This is a holiday romance you will not want to miss out on.

Jacques ‘Jock’ Fourtier moved his five kids and the live-in nanny & cook couple to Garland Grove after leaving the Seattle Sockeyes. He is trying to give his kids a normal life and trying to stay under the radar.

After his oldest son encourages him to step up to coach his hockey team, Jacques meets Serenity Jacobs a single mom of one of his hockey players - the only girl on the team.

I enjoyed seeing these single parents develop a friendship that quickly ignited into more. Both of them have a lot of emotional scars from their first marriages and dating with teenagers watching isn’t something either of them are comfortable with doing.

The reactions of their kids are entertaining and enlightening, and used to create some extra drama for the couple which is pretty realistic.

The town of Garland Grove turns into a something out of a Hallmark Holiday movie, which is quaint and cheery.

This was an entertaining read with a storyline that captured my attention pretty quickly. I was happy to see Jacques get his HEA after all he and his kids have been through.

I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Jacque and Serenity were so good together and I was thrilled to see him finally get his happily ever after. He is hesitant to get in another relationship after what his ex wife did to him, but something about Serenity keeps drawing him to her. His kids are fine with it, even encouraging. He is the new coach to his son’s hockey team and he decides to ask her out.
Serenity is a mama bear when it comes to her daughter Charlie. Her daughter is on the boys hockey team, but has been riding the bench. Serenity is blamed for the previous coach being fired. She is divorced and drawn to Jacque. Charlie is manipulative, but Serenity doesn’t want to admit it.
I loved the connection and similarities between Jacque and Serenity. He was the sweetest man and she was strong, but irritating at times. They were perfect together and for each other, but she was scared. I wish we would have seen her punish Charlie more for what she did but I was happy with how he handled the situation. Overall, a really good Christmas book.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

This was a really fun story. It centers around a character that the author created in her hockey series where, Jaques, fellow teammate sleeps with his ex and then ends up dating thats teammates sister.

In this story Jaques has retired and has all of his 5 kids living with him now as he is single in the small town of Garland Grove. Garland Grove is a Christmas town and we get all the feels of the holiday in this story

Serenity is a single mom and has raised her daughter, Charlie by herself for the last nine years. Charlie loves hockey and when J ends up as the coach of the hockey team, thats when he meets Charlie and her mom Serenity.

I loved this story and its primarily about forgiving yourself for your previous mistakes and moving on. Giving love a chance and family. It was a really fun story with some romantic moments around his 5 kids and her one who is more trouble than all his 5 kids.

I received a complimentary early release copy of this e-book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Celebrate the holidays with BLAME IT ON THE EGGNOG (Romancing the Rink #3). In this story, single father of five Jacques ”Jock” Frontier moved his family to Garland Grove. The retired hockey goalie from the Seattle Sockeye is talked into coaching his son’s hockey team. He meets single mom, Serenity Jacobs, the mother of Charlie, the controversial female hockey goalie on the boy’s team.

I like Jock and Serenity. They both were hurt by their exes and have no desire to get into another relationship. They are instantly attracted to the other and truly enjoy each other’s company. The couple face challenges with the team, kids, and ex.

I appreciate how the Romancing the Rink authors include certain elements in their stories. BLAME IT ON THE EGGNOG was a fun addition to the Romancing the Ring series and Seattle Sockeye series. It was skillfully written and entertain. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Blame it on the Eggnog🎄

I didn’t realise until I’d finished reading this story that there are another three books in this series by different authors, so I’m definitely going to have a look at those as well❣️

I really loved this story, it was sweet with a bit of spice thrown in🤩I especially enjoyed it because it features Jacques, the retired goalie from the Seattle Sockeyes as a single father of five but also the woman he connects with briefly during a Hockey practice, Serenity😍 Serenity is also a single mother of a teenage daughter, who is trying to make her way in a sport dominated by boys but also trying to navigate the difficulties of divorced parents (especially considering one is more present than the other) and then when one wants to date😳

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️

Sometimes something just clicks! Two people’s eyes meet in a crowded arena and the attraction is instantaneous! It’s never happened to Jacques Frontier, retired NHL goalie for the Seattle Sockeyes, and divorced father of five with a ton of baggage. Neither has it ever happened to Serenity Jacobs, divorced librarian and mother of the only girl on an all boys hockey team that Jacques has just begun coaching!
Both have been badly burned in their marriages and are wary with their hearts. But can they overcome small town gossip, disruptions by their children, and all the other pitfalls a new relationship poses?
Is there really magic afoot in Garden Grove at old outdoor rink as legend tells it? Or should they just blame it on the eggnog?
A laugh out loud romantic comedy by Jami Davenport in the Romancing The Rink series! A Must Read! Definitely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Blame it on the Eggnog, book 3 in the Romancing the Rink series is a sweet yet steamy romance story and the perfect book to put you in the holiday spirit and have you believing that love is out there somewhere for everyone!
Jacques Frontier and Serenity Jacobs are both single parents who unexpectedly found a mutual attraction towards one another. They have chemistry but they also have an ease of conversation, a mutual love of hockey and both have made it through challenging first marriages and have come out stronger on the other side. Now, they each have a second chance at love.
There is something special about this town called Garland Grove. Legend has it that many couples have fallen in love while skating in the outdoor rink. Will the magic hold true for Jacques and Serenity even if their kids and life’s obstacles get in the way?

Blame it on the Eggnog is the perfect holiday book. We meet Jacques Frontier a retired hockey player raising his five kids and just trying to get his and his family life back on track. When the local hockey team needs a new coach what he doesn’t expect is not only a girl on his team but her mom catching his eye.
Serenity Jacobs is a single mom raising her determined daughter who wants to play hockey even if she is the only girl on the team, when she meets the new coach she wants to give him a chance not only to do right by her daughter but she can’t help the attraction she feels towards him too.
There are so many obstacles for this couple to overcome, between their pasts, their children and even town gossip but together they are determined to overcome it all and blend their families and try and have a HEA.

Romancing The Rink, Book 3

Jacques "Jock" Frontier is a retired Seattle Sockeyes goalie and also a single father of 5. His crazy ex-wife is in prison for kidnapping their daughter and he has no time for a relationship or anything else. When his son asks him to be the new coach for his hockey team he says ok until one can be found, well that's not happening.
He is surprised when one of the goalies turns out to be a female player, Charlie Jacobs with a beautiful and fierce mom, Serenity Jacobs. Serenity is determined that her daughter gets a fair chance at playing since the last coach wouldn't allow it.
Jacques and Serenity have chemistry but can they make it work? What about the kids, how will they react?

As a reader of Jami's other books I was so happy to see this book! Perfect Hallmark movie, with a bit of HBO Max spice thrown in. I was so happy that Jock got a HEA. He deserves it after all he has been through. This book is about 2 single parents. I love the romantic storyline, and also how the kids reacted. It was totally believable, and I loved that not all the kids were happy right away.

This is not the first book in the series but it can be read as a complete stand alone. You will just know more about the secondary characters and where they are staying since you will have seen it before. But do not let that scare you away. Once you read this book, you will want to read the rest of the books in the series.

This is the third book in the Romancing the Rink series! It was a great addition! I loved it! I love the whole series! Jacques retired from hockey and moved his kids to Garland Grove to get a fresh start. When he starts coaching his sons hockey team he meets Serenity whose daughter plays on his team. The attraction is instant and sparks fly when they are together. What will happen when their children find out they're dating? Will there be added pressure from interfering ex's and the single moms bunch? Blame it on the Eggnog is a very enjoyable fun, emotional, romantic story! I loved it! If you haven't yet read any of the Roman ing the Rink series, I recommend that you do! You'll love them too!

Blame It On The Eggnog is a small town, single parent, holiday romance AND it features a sexy retired hockey player - Ho, Ho, Ho!

This is the third book in The Romancing The Rink series - a multi-author collaboration. I absolutely adore Garland Grove and this series. There is a charming Hallmark like quality about this book (with a nice dash of heat) and it makes for a sweet and sexy, read in one sitting romance read. I enjoyed watching Jacques and Serenity find comfort and love in each other’s arms. It wasn’t easy blending their families together but in the end it was so worth it.

Blame It On The Eggnog gets the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR and Enjoy!

This is a really lovely story. Jacques, is a retired Pro Hockey player who’s bringing up his 5 kids, he takes on the role of Coach for the local kids hockey team, just so happens that Serenity’s daughter, Charlie plays for this team. Charlie is so used to just being the only important thing in her mums eyes and rebels when Serenity and Jacques start a relationship. There’s a lot of soul searching hat happens and a brief breakup but thankfully their is a very HEA. Really enjoyed this story.

I received an ARC in return for a review.

3.5 rounded up to a 4-star read of Blame It On The Eggnog (Romancing The Rink #3) by Jami Davenport
This is the third book in the Romancing the Rink series. I do love the Christmas town of Garland Grove and to spend time in the magical mountain town. While not a huge fan of the holiday of Christmas there is something magical about this town.

Blame It on The Eggnog was a well composed, enjoyable story. There is an underlying sense of joy of family in this story. Both Jock and Serenity’s struggles to find balance between kids and adult life can resonate with many of us. Yet both are connected to their children and want to be as present as possible for them. They also find happiness in the shared moments, the moments of chaos and the quiet moments.

In life and in love it's the surprises that make an impact. The Romancing the Rink series continues to make it's presence felt with haunting stories, heartwarming characters and irresistible romance. Three books in and I fall deeper under the spell of Garland Grove. This time Jami Davenport uses humor and heart to spin a chaotic sort of love story. Blame it on the Eggnog is a tale of family chaos, unexpected attraction and determination that refuses to be ignored. From a strong willed mother to a stressed out father, Davenport shakes up the way we look at family and touches the heart in the process.

An enjoyable read.

Jacques & Serenity are both single parents who aren't looking for a second chance at happily ever after, but can't deny their attraction to each other. With 6 kids between them, they'll have to navigate bratty teenagers and gossipy townsfolk in order to make things work.

When those same teenagers decide to work together, the magic of the holiday season gives everyone what they want.

I love single parent romances and add in that both characters are single parents and I was already hooked. I fell in love with this town and absolutely loved Jacques and Serenity. They are both trying their best while raising their children. The story was sweet and sexy but also funny and now I need to pick up the previous books.

Blame it on the Eggnog is a wonderful holiday read!

Jacques is a retired hockey goalie with 5 kids and his ex-wife is in jail. He's trying to adjust to life outside of hockey and do the best for his kids. Desmond (Dez) is Jacques 14 year old son and he's on a hockey team. This hockey team just lost their coach because of an irate parent and Dez is trying to get Jacques to step in for a bit. Jacques doesn't want anyone to know who he is or worse, what went on with his ex-wife and why she's in jail. But, he feels bad for Dez and agrees to "temporarily" coach the hockey team.

Serenity is a single mom who's only child, Charlie, who's a great hockey goalie. Charlie is also a girl playing on Dez's otherwise all boys hockey team.

Jacques watches the team play for the first time and thinks Charlie is really good but he doesn't realize that Charlie is a girl until he speaks with her. In the meantime, he's already noticed Serenity sitting in the bleachers away from all the other hockey parents. He's attracted to her immediately. After the first practice Serenity pays a visit to Jacques to make sure that he will give her daughter a fair chance during the season. There's something fun about a mama bear wanting her child to succeed.

Will Jacques want to date the mom of one of his players especially when she's the one who caused the problems with the last coach?

There is something magical in the air (and the outside ice rink) at Garland Grove, not to mention something special in the eggnog. This is a wonderful holiday read full of real life angst and sweet holiday romance.

When Jacques gained full custody of his 5 kids after his ex-wife went crazy and sent to prison, he decided to retire from being a professional hockey player with the Seattle Sockeyes and move back to Canada. He found a small quiet town called Garland Grove away from everything and a place to enjoy life. Then his son’s team ran into problems, they needed a coach and fast. So he decided to volunteer. What he wasn’t expecting was to deal with some hockey moms, single interfering hockey moms, one of which was make him think about her constantly.

As a single mother of 1, Serenity was very protective of her daughter, especially when it comes to hockey, because she wants to make sure she has every and any chance possible to make it. So when the team gets a new coach she was even more determined, she just didn’t think he would be so hot looking and she would be falling for him.

Now is it the eggnog being served at the local bar the two of them go to a few times or is it the chemistry between them that brings these 2 single parents together? Can it handle all the complications that comes with families especially when the kids find out they are dating? Will the well known Garland Grove legend prove to come true? We can’t give away too much of the storyline in the book. Just know that it is one you definitely have to add to your reading list. It is the 3rd book In the series about Garland Grove but it can be read by itself.
