Study better -Mnemonic devices -Definitions -Diagrams -Educational doodles -and quizzes to recap it all and get better grades!
I don't know about the "double-checked by an AWARD-WINNING teaching" part though. I went through the entire book and found six errors:
p. 148 #s 9 and 10 p. 284 #6 p. 306 #5 p. 609 #2 p. 618 #5
Not good if you're shaky in mathematics and doubt your own solutions: "Am I missing something or is this book wrong?!" I double-checked with others whose mathematical abilities I trust, so...!
Anyway, this book is useful for review, not so much for learning new concepts -- especially not the final unit which felt really rushed compared to the rest of the book.
The book has problems with solutions and covers everything up to Algebra I.
I wouldn't recommend this book to people who only need a refresher on a few of the topics, but anyone who hasn't taken any algebra would gain a lot from this book.
This was good and easy to understand, but there were quite a few practice problems that had the wrong answers listed. (I triple-checked and asked for second opinions, so it's not just my math skills!) It seems like a shame that such a nice resource wasn't proofread before publication.
Everything You Need to Ace Pre-Algebra by the company, Workman, is a fabulous way to educate anyone in Algebra I class. I recommend this book for students in 4th grade through adulthood. After going through the chapters, I realized I remembered some but not everything. Having a solid understanding not only keeps one sharp but also helps us to build up to higher levels of math. I have not found any issues with this book. I bought this book to help me refresh on math that I knew.
The math book teaches math concepts in a simple and easy to understand way. I wish I had this book as a kid! I believe any parent or guardian homeschooling their children or needing extra help for their kids, this is a must have tool! It is a treasure to have. Both to work on while young and to go back to, to refresh on what one does not remember as they further their math education. Great reference material and teaching book to keep for all times. It made learning algebra fun. Lessons are straight to the point, simple, and easy to follow.
Pretty good! A very thorough run down on the basics. Just make sure you're doing all the practice sections and incorporate some flashcards into the mix, or else the information overload will be too much to bear for a kid who's being exposed to the concepts for the first time or an adult who needs some revision.
The gold standard for helpful guides. Includes colorful illustrations, clever cartoons, and thorough explanations that doesn't stray into minutiae. Also eschews antiquated symbols no longer used in high school algebra. Is not terribly advanced as the New York Regents Exam prep book, but this will be better for the casual or struggling student.
Aeally like this one, it was easy but complicated at the same time, greate if you never learned algebra before. I hated math before i got my hands on the everything you need to ace series and now i love it.
Although I would be careful with this one, it has some solution errors, but aside from that really recommend
It is a great book to remember Math subjects again. I was just wondering several sections but I read all of them because I started to wonder for next subject.
Also, next I will start to read its Geometry book which was unplanned but after the Math book I wonder about Geometry :)
Great, it can help understanding some complex ideas in mathematics, and has funny cartoons to lighten up the mood now and then. It can make some topics more difficult than needed, which is why I removed one star.
I've only gone through 1/4 of it and it's full of incorrect answers as well as incorrect math in the examples they give you. I caught 5 in 2 chapters alone, pretty unacceptable.
DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK. So many of the printed answers for the chapter quizzes are blatantly wrong. I have wasted many hours checking to see if I'm wrong and its always THE BOOK IS WRONG! Don't waste your time on this book, buy one that actually has CORRECT ANSWERS IN IT!
