Alex has some worries. First off, he got caught sneaking through the fence into the zoo grounds early and now he's afraid he'll never be able to enter again, even though he has a parent who works there. Second, he wanted to do red pandas for his school project but he got stuck with vicious wolves. And third, his pet cat is missing.

Alex is a believably dramatic youngster who definitely learns his lesson about sneaking into the zoo. He eventually comes around to wolves, and the mystery of where his cat went is solved without much drama. These Mysteries on Zoo Lane are very light mysteries for possibly more sensitive readers, and are super quick chapter book reads with a very large font and illustrations scattered throughout.

This is the third book in the Zoo Mysteries series. I’ve been reading this aloud to my son, who loves animals. I would definitely recommend this series!

Alex is another kid who lives on Zoo Lane. He is not excited that summer is over and he’s going back to school, because it means less time spent at the zoo. But his new teacher has a plan for them each to write an essay about an animal at the nearby zoo. Alex loves the red panda!! Sadly, he gets assigned the wolf, to his disappointment. Meanwhile, his cat goes missing! Will he find Oreo?
