Maddison James learned a lot about life last year. Only important stuff, of course. Like how to breathe under water, how to turn an arrow into a weapon, and how to fall in love.
Asher Locke. The one who stole her heart. The one who showed her the truth of her past and ... hopefully her future.
Now it's just time for them to live happily ever after.
Only the gods have different plans. And with Atlantis rising, Maddi isn't sure she'll survive long enough to even finish her second year, let alone have any sort of future.
Even worse, the sadistic Atlantean gods want to break her before they kill her. But Maddi has been underestimated before, and she has hidden strengths they'll never see coming.
Year of purple ... bring it on.
This is book two in the Supernatural Academy series. Full length at 105k words.

I've been holding out on this book for months now and it still isn't doing anything for me. I'm currently almost 2 hours in and I don't want to be in Maddi's head anymore. I like that she's with Asher but I would love it even more if an actual storyline aside from the romance also got started. It's been almost 2 hours of them doing things together, of Maddi wanting to be with him, of him sending her messages. Get on with what I want to read about: the plotline. I like romance in stories. It's a must for me in most books I read, but even I couldn't take much more of this lovey-dovey sh*t. And that's coming from someone who has been reading paranormal romance and urban fantasy almost exclusively for the last 2+ years. This book ended up just not being for me. This isn't the first time and it won't be the last, unfortunately.
Holy flying Atlantean babies everywhere! This book guys...let me tell you is FAN-FLIPPIN'-TASTIC!! I cannot describe the amount of turmoil you will go through in this book. It was like the equivalent of this.
I was not prepared for the world of hurt this book would put me through. When I finished reading the book I was like I think I'm losing my mind. I even tried begging for more and asking if she really wanted to risk me imploding... It still didn't work. Why I do not know. Authors clearly like to be a tease. Who would've known?
I need to get creative though because,
stupid plan A's - I gotto find a plan B for this
In the meantime, this will be me.
I honestly don't know what I can say about this book without just blurting out the spoilers. but I will say...The year starts off extremely promising and then KABOOMIE IT ALL GOES TO HELL!
But I kinda think she set herself up with this line
“So far, the year of purple has started out perfectly,”
She should've thought of her own words, after saying this to Ilia lol.
I snorted. “Way to put that out into the universe. You’ve just screwed yourself.”
But man do they really go through so much and so many obstacles, that its kinda mind-blowing how they have all stayed sane. The key though to keeping your sanity is the people that you surround yourself with...and this is exactly what Maddie did. Her best friends Ilia and Larisa were such amazing characters and a serious strength to her and they supported her through it all. They are the kind of friends you really need in life. Loyal as they come. I absolutely loved as well how much these characters grew and the bond that really solidified even stronger between them.
Then we have the Atlantean Five and these boys wow...I LOVE everything about their bond together. It's so hard to explain...but the love all of them have for Maddison and her for them is off the charts. They will literally do anything for her. Even if that means staying away. (hehe had to drop a little something, something to tease you guys). But honestly, they are tight. There was just something so truly beautiful how these guys and her best friends just pull together. I love all these peeps so much!!
They truly lived up to this:
"Family. It was my theme for this year."
And it truly was.
Through this book Maddi's strength and resilience is incredible. I felt so proud of her for putting herself back together as best she could. She suffered a lot of pain throughout this book (not saying the others didn't but being an unaware party she didn't understand why people were being like they were). She learns a lot annnnnd guess who we meet here in the book??! Yes the Supernatural Prison books crossover! We get to see Jessa (making girlpower gangs - lovethis chick!) and Braxton (who help to train her), along with Tyson and Louis (yep he's still around!). We even get a small sneaksie of one of the twins :D - that was soooo cool having the books-crossover like that. And Jaymin was SUPER clever by doing this.
"She’d mentioned dragon marked, but I had no idea what that was. I wished there was a book I could check out that would tell me everything. I paused. Amanda said they were famous. Maybe there was a book in the library about it. I’d find out soon enough."
Subtle but so blatantly obvious and right there...it totally cracked me up and I appreciated that little addition. 😂
I literally don't know what else I can say about this book without spoiling anything...but be prepared (did you just start singing Lion King? I may have 😂), for gods to start popping out here there and everywhere. Expect lots of tears and heartache - Jaymin probably has enough of them to go swimming in lol (seriously I'm not kidding). You'll see love and strength in multitudes - they go through a lot but come out the other end stronger and closer than EVER before. They may have even found that special little library and a cool little fairy Mab.
Atlantis is rising and so are the gods. gods are at war and they want to rule again. Old enemies become allies. New friendships arise. Powers grow and change...and it's very possible that 3 very important characters may become the only way to take on the gods and survive, if they learn about one potential weapon, the Hellbringers. Sounds destructive right? And yep it could very much likely bring around the end of days. Not terrifying at all.
The biggest question though above all else...what is Atlantis hiding and why did the 'Mother' god sink it, to begin with?
Can we take on Maddie's and Stiles way?...denial, denial, denial....and hope it all goes away.
Never anything is as it seems and wait for that reveal at the end. I had a very strong feeling. Poor Asher. The main couple of the book can't seem to catch a break.
I know I haven't touched much on Asher and Maddie. Eek I just can't. I'm so worried I'm gonna spill too much. I'll say this...their love is epic and I adore them together. But they go through a lot in this book and it puts a huge strain on their relationship. When something particularly horrific happens (you know what I'm talking about Jaymin 😛you are soo lucky I trust you explicitly otherwise I would've lost my ever-lovin' mind...but I was still DYING! And my mum got told all about it because I couldn't keep it inside! I kinda startled her when I randomly just started ranting lol about things exploding and on I went lol)...Maddie then struggles to trust him and a bit of a gulf starts to grow between them, understandably so- and well once Asher learns he needs his girl too much and can't be without her, he gotto go mend those bridges. Get to it dude...oh wait...he doesn't like to be called that 😉
His eyes flashed. “Don’t call me dude, Maddison. I’m not one of your friends.” (I'm so mean right? hehe feel my pain)
But I'm totally slamming that hand over my mouth now or do I need duct tape? I'm not really sure. We can try.
I honestly don't know how Mad's did it all along with school. I'm with Derek on this one. I'm not smart enough to ace everything. I can only focus on one major task at a time...and that would be NOT dying!
I'm soo flippin nervous what is in store next for us! I'm worried for what remains of my sanity and for my wellbeing lol.
probably coz I forgot to breathe through my rising panic of how this is all going to go down? Can you honestly blame me!?
We need survival kits set up or something. With all our favourite things. Chocolate, Coke, Fluffy Pillows you name it! Have it prepared and waiting!
But at the same time I am so so excited...I really do NEED this book I NEED ANSWERS JAYMIN please hehe! I feel like the equivalent of a kid who has their favourite blankie in the washing machine haha. Kinda like Joey down there ↓
You know that weird thing I kinda did with Heather Renee's last book Deadly Declaration? Where I wrote the review backwards? Yeah I'm totally doing it again right now! What the heck is wrong with my brain. Ohhh I know what it is...Jaymin's in my head. That's what it is. They make craziness spew out from me. Is it truly fair though to blame them? I dunno...I have my own brand of crazy for sure...
but I think they make more just randomly explode from me....so I think in these instances
Wouldn't you agree?
Anywho thank you to the amazing awesome-saucy Jaymin Eve for letting me in on your ARC team.I think I nearly died...I was like
It was one of the best days when Heather reached out to me, asking if I wanted in and derh of course I did!
But thank you sooo much for taking me in and for not being weirded out by my crazy. You'll adjust to me (hopefully haha). But thank you, thank you... being on your team is like a dream come true!
So if you haven't gotten or understood my ramblings....I can't put it anymore simpler than this.
JUST READ THE BOOK!
I take my hat off to you Jaymin. You are so incredibly talented and you always leave me wanting and begging for more. I always become so invested in your books and characters that it makes me a little crazier than normal lol so...here is my proverbial hat being taken off to you 😀
Okay, I think my ramblings are done now. I hope you didn't just sigh with relief there. You did, didn't you?
Just a super quick note for younger readers this book is what I would class New Young Adult and does contain sexual content and language.
Cheerio and Happy Readings Book Nerds.
PS Jaymin I told you weird craziness spews from my mouth...I hope you enjoyed it 😉 😂
This book touched my soul! I cried, I laughed, I wanted to punch the author in the face, then I wanted to hug her. It was everything I needed and more. Maddi is an incredible character and her strength knows no bounds. I can’t wait to see what comes next for her in Year Three!
Maddie really is a great character to follow, I like her whit. There is a part in this book which is meant to be extremely sad and emotional, but I just didn't feel it, and I cry very easily in books. It just lacked in emotion. The story about the trapped gods and Atlantis rising, and who Maddie, Conner and Asher really are is all very interesting. I still don't like Asher much though. I don't know, there is just something lacking in this book, I can't put my finger on it.
Pages: 408 My rating: 4 Read other books by this author in the future: yes MC: Maddie, Asher other Characters: Ilia, Larissa, Axl, Jesse, Rone, Calen
I loved the book. We meet Jessa, Braxton, Louis and Tyson from the Supernatural Prison series. It was nice to meet them again. Maddie has to go trough a hard time, as the god play an evil game and try to take a lot from her, but with the help of her friends especially Larissa, Ilia and Jesse, but also the other guys, she hangs on.
Book two was so amazing, but absolutely gut wrenching. I didn't know if I'd have the strength to keep reading for a while there. Hit me right in the feels, jaymin.
Year two at the Supernatural Academy heats right up from the start. The Atlantean six is destroyed when Ash is kidnapped, held hostage and ultimately dies.
Maddie almost dies from a broken heart, only to experience further agony as the situation with Atlantis being in stasis keeps changing by the minute.
Ash is brought back to life, but the Atlantean brothers have changed so far as to be unrecognizable. No on will speak to Maddie, much less allow her to be near them.
Through a year of feirce training in both supernatural skills and hand to hand combat, as well as studying the material she finds in the lost Atlantis Library, Maddie is made ready for the ultimate battle.
Many secrets come out about the heritage of the Atlanteans and many of the supernaturals. Tensions that build from the beginning, explode over and over again.
Maddie is forced into a "deal with the devil" in order to protect her friends and buy some time. Will it be enough to figure out how to free the supernaturals and save the world? We'll find out in book three...
4.5 Stars. Supernatural Academy: Year Two is the second book in the Supernatural Academy series. I liked this book significantly more than the first book. I didn't want to put this one down.
This book was quite emotional and I was eating it up like candy. Maddi, her two best girlfriends, the Atlantean Five, Princeps, and Louis(a Supernatural Prison series crossover character also in book 1), were joined by some other crossover characters from the Supernatural Prison series. We saw Jessa and a couple of the Compass brothers, Braxton and Tyson. I loved seeing them pop up in this book. If you haven't already read that series, I highly recommend it. Book one is Dragon Marked.
We learned more about where Maddi, Asher, and Connor were from and what their purpose is. We also got to meet some of the gods.
The only critique that I have for this book is that I wish there would have been a tad more added in to remind us some of the less important things and minor side characters that we saw from book 1 but might not remember several months later when reading this book. I'm sure it wouldn't have mattered if I read the books back to back but I didn't so there were a couple times I had to stop and think back to 70 or so books ago when I read book 1.
I am definitely looking forward to book 3 and the year of the aquamarine hair. I'm bummed I have to wait 5 more months but I have a feeling it will be worth the wait!
Wow Asher I was so mad at you for some of the stuff you pulled in this book. Maddi forgave you way too easily in my opinion and I don't care if it was all to protect her! The same goes for all of the other Atlanteans except for Axl! Also thanks Jaymin for breaking my heart and making me cry not even halfway through the book WITHOUT WARNING! I was not ready in the slightest! The complexity that was introduced towards the end of this book was not anything I was expecting and I already know it's gonna get even crazier in the next book and boy am I looking forward to it! One of my favorite recurring themes from this book was the strength, stability, and growth of Maddi's female friendships that I felt were highlighted, which I loved! Looking forward to the final book!
I loved this book. The author has done an excellent job at this book. I liked it's characterization the most. The characters felt so alive and full of life. And I love the writing style of Jaymin Eve. It was simply an AMAZING book. If you want the full review, you can go to our blog link mentioned below. https://favbookshelf.com/book-review-...
I wanted a different end for Sonaris, more like something along Rhysand's character, he did help Maddison a lot n all he wanted was to get to know him. Besides, which old God ain't power hungry, but he did want a true mate.. I did like him more than the possessive Asher who literally tries to control her, he atleast gave her choices, real choices.

Grief, Fear, Survival & All The Love!!😭💔😍💘💗 (Read using Kindle Unlimited) Supernatural Academy: Year Two (Supernatural Academy #2)
I do enjoy this Author's writing style 👍 What I loved the most about this book was how much stronger Maddi, Ilia & Larissa's friendship became, it was already strong but they're truly 'Ride of Die' now!!😎 Having Louis, Jessa, Braxton & Tyson in this book, for a while, was a complete squishy heart pleasure 🙏😍
The sadness, anger & rage became a little much, Understandable though!!😳💔 So much was discovered even during their biggest loss 😭💥 I love the guys & think they all deserve to find their fated mates - I REALLY hope that happens in the final book!🙏💕💘 I can't believe we've got to wait until March!🙈😭💔
The second book in this series and I was so freaking excited to be able to read it after everything that happened in the first book I was completely hooked. This one Maddi decided to change her hair to purple. This book my heart was breaking for her and my emotions were just all over with what they were all going through. I absolutely adore Maddi because no matter what is thrown at her she is still just so strong and doesn't give. Love her make shift family and best friends are there for her. I honestly and truly can not wait for book 3 to find everything out and am so addicted to this series!! Every character in this series are everything to me!
This book was just as captivating as the first! We finally learn more about what Maddie really is. Every time you think things are going back to normal something else crazy happens. Asher will protect his mate no matter what. Maddie is no pushover and will not tolerate being treated poorly or pushed away. I’m absolutely loving this series and I can’t wait to read what’s next for them. The other characters are so loveable as well! I can’t wait for year of the aqua hair!
Omg this book totally broke my heart and eventually put it back together. From the start I was sucked into an amazing story full of heartbreak and lots of love, with a splash of godly trouble. The way maddi and the atlantian five have to fight for everything with keep you gripped. Totally freaking awesome your gonna love it once your put back together at the end, but it's a million percent worth it
I enjoyed book two heaps more than book one. This was gripping, heart wrenching and a massive rollercoaster. Great writing tying in many threads and loved seeing Jess’s and the Compasses. I’m waiting for Madi to find her trident. It feels like it’s coming. Can’t wait to see what she does with Sonaris. Bring on book 3. The fight of their lives is coming.
Another great read and again so much drama! Before we even reached halfway I was so confused with the turn of events that I physically turned the book over in my hand questioning how there was more to this book with a whole other book following. Everything about this book was crazy and the ending was not quite as crazy but enough to keep you intrigued.
GODS, this was amazing. I'm invested. I'm not even going to lie though. My heart was completely shredded. And now there are extra factors that are coming into play that have me stressed. Really bummed that I have to wait to wait five more months to get the finale.
Again thisnhad me entranced from the first paragraph
I feel like when I'm reading your books, it's almost as if I'm really there. I love how you incorporate characters from other series into this book. I love learning more about each of them, seeing them learn and grow.
Best grappig dat het over een school gaat maar ze meer dan het halve schooljaar mist.. Het verhaal gaat dus minder over de school maar meer over het gevecht met de goden. Opzich was het best een leuk verhaal ondanks sommige irritaties die ik had.
Year two is everything I imagined and then some. I feel a little overwhelmed with all the future possibilities for the next book and also so nervous for what may come.
This year had so many unexpected revelations. So many thing I didn't see coming and was definitely not emotionally prepared for but holy wow... What a story. I'm going to try and keep this review as spoiler free as possible so bare with me if this doesn't make much sense.
Madison's crazy story continues and we finally get some much needed answers as well as even more questions thrown our way. To say her journey is turbulent would be a understatement but the evolution of Maddi and her God like powers are nothing short of magnificent. Her character is strong, independent and loyal to fault. She continues to thrive and grow even more powerful with every book and we still are yet to see her full potential. Boy am I looking forward that.
I loved the pace of this story and the love between the character. The chemistry is fire and the bond between them all so sweet I can't even with the feels. The journey is complex and difficult to say the least but they are nearing the end which I'm not sure is a good thing just yet. I'm both excited and nervous to see where this goes because at this point not even the sky is the limit.
It's climactic, action packed, suspenseful, swoon worthy, sweet and at times .. Absolutely heart wrenching. I laughed, swooned , ranted and raged through reading their story because it really is a rollercoaster of emotions and I feel like the worst is yet to come. But it made me feel all the feels. I adored the characters even when they acted stupid. I was so completely consumed in this crazy world and all the dysfunctional shenanigans that followed these characters. It's hard to write a review about an unfinished story so I'll finish this off by saying.. so far this journey exceeded any and all expectations I had and I cannot wait to read the conclusion to Maddi's story.
