This is a worthwhile manual for anyone who is working with school libraries and collection development. Super practical and hands on - it’s built to give the basics without a lot of extra, while still explaining basic library science principles.

Highly recommend for school libraries, teachers with classroom libraries, anyone who is working in school media centers or developing collections for children.

This should be every librarians bible. It’s relatable, honest, encouraging, applicable, and informative. You know those books that you read and you feel the disconnect between the author and the subject matter? (Ex: researchers writing a book on educational practices) this book does the opposite. You feel her librarian spirit throughout the text because she knows the library inside and out. Phenomenal read!
